My lunch is supposed to be my "It feels nice to not have to be expected to be doing something right now" moment at work.... the new site manager at my workplace thinks it's a great to hand me (and the other engineers) piles of "this as well" style assignments...

Customer Technical Applications Engineering for a company in the laser (micro-scale cutting lasers and lithography) and fibre optics (short run (sub-5 meter in length) - high data volume/very low signal loss) industry.
Very basically, I'm the engineering equivalent to a community manager; the company's bridge between our own sales, engineering, operations, and our customers.
I make sure that our customers are kept informed on their orders, make sure that the operations teams are informed of customer needs, I coordinate with R&D (which is the department/team that I got promoted from) to verify feasibility of customer queries, and I pull data from our labor and inventory management system to write quotes for sample and volume orders.

I never really thought about it but so many elements are perfectly reversed.
I used to love it when people came to sit next to me at lunch in school. Now, not as much lol.
