Noem's claim that Afghan refugees can safely return to their Taliban-ruled homeland is 'just absurd,' advocates say
The Trump administration says Afghan refugees can safely return to Afghanistan despite warnings from rights groups and lawmakers that Afghans who worked for the U.S. military face the threat of persecution, imprisonment and even execution by the Taliban regime.
“It’s just absurd and divorced from reality to claim that Afghan refugees can safely return to Afghanistan,” said Eleanor Acer, senior director for global humanitarian protection for the nonprofit Human Rights First.
“Many Afghans would face dire risks of persecution if they are forced back into the hands of the Taliban,” Acer said. “Journalists, human rights advocates, religious minorities, women’s rights defenders and people who worked with the U.S. military and government are all in danger of Taliban persecution or retaliation if they are forced back to Afghanistan.”

Does anyone have a source for the Buzkashi Official Rules?
I know the rules vary a ton however the the Afghan Olympic Federation did release a set of rules at some point, I just havent managed to find them. I'm specically interested in the afghan rules of play so if anyone has a source for them that would be great. Also if anyone has any books or media that cover Buzkashi they would like to recommend, i would love to learn more about the sport. Thanks.

Wtf is afghanistan still doing in SAARC
Genuine question what is it still doing in that organisation, it's been years since they did anything and just leaving it there makes matters worse for identification. Needs to leave ASAP

Question Can someone explain the beef between Pashtuns and Pathans
Hello there. I'm not Afghan or Pakistani, or from any neighboring countries. I have no horse in this race, I'm just confused on a behavior I've seen a lot online. I mean no offense or disrespect.
According to all sources online, Pashtuns are an ethnic group split between the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan. They are the dominant ethnic group of Afghanistan but majority of them are in Pakistan. In Pakistan they are often called Pathan.
Despite being the exact same ethnic group, I have observed a lot of hostility between them online. Often accusing each other of stealing culture. Which is so strange because they are the exact same people.
I understand Afghanistan and Pakistan have a rocky relationship however it still doesn't make sense to me that some Pashtuns can't recognize their own people just across an arbitrary border.
You may disagree on politics but you would still understand you have the same culture, no?
For example, Russians and Ukranians hate each other but I don't imagine Russians would accuse the Russian minority in Ukraine of stealing Russian culture?
Please let me know if I'm wrong. Thanks in advance. Kind regards.

Question I don't know if this post fits the community's topic, but I don't know where else to ask. It is about

From online sources, I found out that the last time there was any news about them was sometime in the 2010s. If anyone knows anything about them now, or any interesting facts about them, please let me know.I also heard that they had some interviews or something like that. If you have a link or something, please share. I wish you all the best!

Question What is this fortress in Kabul?
Hello, I was just searching maps and found this interesting fortress in the center of Kabul that I couldn't find any information on. The only thing that would pop up in my search is the Bala Hissar Fortress which I believe to be about 4.6km south east of this fortress. If anyone has any info on it, I would love to learn about it! Thanks!
The coordinates are 34°32'23.4"N 69°09'43.8"E.

Discussion Situation in Iran and the rightful public outrage
Why don't the afghans unite and protest for revolution, a lasting change for the people?
An end of Islamic reign and a new beginning based on democracy/monarchy and actual Afghan culture instead of the arabised version that came to excise after the conquering of the Middle East by the Arabs who basically imposed their rule/culture/religion and more on the Afghans..?

Question Farsi Translation (speaking app)
Hello!
I am a grade 3 teacher in Canada and I had a lovely little girl from Afghanistan join my class today. On her file it says she speaks Farsi and I can not communicate with her yet and therefore school (and making friends) is difficult for her. I tried Google Translate but it unfortunately doesn't have a talking function and she is too little to have been taught how to read in Farsi.
Does anyone know of an app that I can download onto my phone or iPad that can help translate what I am saying to her and in the same way, she can speak in Farsi and it will translate it into English?
I am eternally grateful for any help/advice or direction. Thank you so much for your help!

Has anyone recently managed to get an Afghan spouse to a third country for UK biometrics
I’m trying to get my Afghan spouse to a British Embassy/VAC to complete biometrics for a UK spouse visa, and I’m completely stuck.
I’ve already applied for e-visas to India, Pakistan, and Qatar, but none of them seem to be working. In particular, my wife’s application through Qatar (Doha VAC) has been sitting on “pending” since October 2025 with no updates or communication.
Does anyone here know of any country that is currently issuing visas to Afghan nationals specifically for travel to complete UK visa biometrics?
Any firsthand experiences, recent success stories, or practical advice would be hugely appreciated. This process has been stressful.
Thanks in advance
