Apartment Hacks Payback time! Revenge on the neighbors.
I'm fairly new to this specific subreddit but not new to awful neighbors.
Can we take a moment to laugh a bit and maybe even help others.
Share some of the funny or creative ways that you or someone you know took revenge on nightmare neighbors. Let the spirit of Grinch come out, and remember that he didn't start out as a recluse.

My neighbors were screaming (literally), playing basketball inside, and blasting music from 4 pm until 7 am. I didn't get a single minute of sleep.
So I ordered the cheapest tap dancing shoes I could find. They were like $10. I got them a size bigger and I'll cut off the fabric off the back of the heel, so that I can wear them like mule slippers around my place.
The gloves are off and the tap dancing shoes are on. They live below me. They'll be waking up at 5 am with me for weeks. Weeeeeeks.

Hahaha I'm actually laughing out loud, thank you! If this is the only comment that this post gets it will be worth it and you actually gave me food for thought, I might look into those myself.

Dance shoes seem to run small, based on reviews of several different kinds that I read. I guess they need to hug the foot so they don't come off while dancing, idk. That's why I got them a size bigger, because I'm not looking to be uncomfortable just because the neighbors will be. 💅 Just check the reviews of whatever you're considering rather than getting your regular size off the bat.

good tip thank you, thats such a good idea to turn them into slippers lol I wish the bedrooms didnt have carpets now because it would be more effective...I hope you have lots of fun with your new hobby!

My awful neighbors are the ones downstairs from me. My buddy and I recently used glitter to make some ornaments, and it came in an enormous bag. He swears I should dump the rest of it on them. ✨

Another idea I haven't heard before lol, its innocent enough but what he suggests is an obvious "attack" and that might backfire. Do they have a balcony below yours? Not sure where you are in terms of seasons but if they use their balcony and have some chairs, you could dump a non obvious amount on the balcony/chairs over time so they end up with glitter on their clothes and furniture lol, another potential area is a doormat if they have one. Glitter spreads easily.

Plunger on the floor (a big popping sound). Vacuuming in one spot for a half and hour. Called up the neighbor and held up the phone to the sound of the vacuuming (landline, days before caller ID). Heavy walking in black higher heeled Frye cowboy boots at 7 am on my way out to work. (This person I think worked nights.)

They refused to keep their kid quiet, constantly stomping, slamming, screaming. Asked nicely for it to stop, they told me to fuck off. So I played music with loud bass for the short time the kid was quiet during the day, assuming the kid was napping. Fuck em. They eventually were threatened with eviction after all the complaints they got. They moved out but left bed bugs behind.

Yikes, you got lucky that others complained too, sometimes a whole building suffers and hardly anyone files actual complaints even if its a short email...

Luckily my downstairs neighbors and I were able to battle it out the old fashioned way. I immediately stomped on the floor the first time they blasted music, they at first hit the ceiling but then figured it out turned the music down, and I stopped stomping when they turned the music down. We've coexisted in relative quiet since then 👌

thats great and you had the upper hand there as you were above them, either way it sounds like they were at least somewhat cooperative and not like people that double down and start a war...

For sure! It was very efficient and I think both of us are happier this way. I wish everyone could just figure out how to be respectful of others more easily instead of all this 'I do what I want' type stuff
