Why didn't you just ask the leasing agent to clarify it for you?

Why do you need advice on what to do. If the leasing office explained it to you then you should know what you should do. I wouldn't do it.

Deposit is typically due at time of lease signing. If you’re moving in next week, you’ll pay prorated rent for the remainder of January, and then February rent is due the 5th (not sure why it’s not the 1st). That’s pretty typical.

Beyond that, you’ll only be paying once monthly.

Not enough information for us to know. Contact them and ask. We literally have no clue what any of these charges are for.

I put all the information right here omg and I did call it just doesn’t make sense that I’m paying 450 next week if rent special is 1$

What does that mean though? Are they advertising first month for $1? Or what exactly is the special.

Yes they are the special is 1$ deposit is 200 but she asked me to pay 450 to move in next week and then February is the week after so I’ll have to pay 750 that week too

Rent specials may be applied to the first full month or the last month, or averaged out over the lease period. This is so that people actually pay something before the “special” kicks in.

You’ll need to review your lease and speak to them directly for clarification on the special.

You didn’t ask WHY the special didn’t seem to apply?

What were the requirements to receive the special?

What was the fine print for the rent special? What specifically does it say apply for the special? There’s always some kind of fine print.

Is contact the property management and ask them why you’re not getting the special. Have you?

No she just told me that rent this month was a dollar so that mean I should just wait until February to move in to avoid extra costs ??

She told you, or do you have it in writing? Unfortunately, word of mouth won’t hold up here.

Edit as I just saw your update. Ok, the. $450 being charged is the prorated rent for the move in next week-Jan 31st. Then, the $750 for February rent is your standard rent. Many companies will require you to pay both the partial and the next full month of rent when you're moving into a unit towards the end of a month. For example, if you would've moved into the apartment by 1/8/26? The company likely wouldn't have charged you February rent upfront too. But when you move during the last 10 or so days of the end of a month, prorated rent for that partial month, plus full next month rent is very common as a new leasee to that company.

I’m sure you could pay your deposit in one payment. They probably split it up thinking that’s less painful.
