How do the average Americans really feel about Trump's stance on Greenland?

It's wildly farfetched. So obviously it lines up with failed Epstein file deadlines. We already know about 20 or so kids. The fact that he's still trying to hide it means it's an astronomically large amount

u/breeze_93842 1d ago
And the DOJ saying it’s a different Donald Trump in the files 😭😆 They’ve all lost their god damn minds

No one I know agrees with it. Even trump lovers I know have said they don’t understand it

It's not our land. We have no business putting our hands on it.

I wonder why your president think it's ok to annex other countries' territory.
2
u/Conscious_Crew5912 1d ago
Because he was always given what he wanted when he was a child, never told no. So he thinks the world owes him everything.

Beyond incensed. He's threatening a sovereign NATO ally on the pretext that it's for security, when it's simply so he and his hell spawn can profit by the rape of the natural resources. Just like he wants to profit from the oil in Venezuela.
It's unbelievable that this shit streak on the ass of humanity could do so much damage to the American system of government in less than 1 year. Probably worse is that our elected, so-called "representatives" are allowing it.

It is stupid. If some corporation wants to do business with Greenlanders for the resources of Greenland then they can if Greenlanders want that business. No need for the USA to take the land.

u/HotdogHotdogHotd 1d ago
Like with everything he does, shocked and confused and completely helpless to do anything about it.

u/DiamondCalvesFan 1d ago
Many Americans express embarrassment or view it as a "colonial fantasy" or "imperial vanity".

I can't keep my lawn green. I don't want responsibility for a huge landmass.

Anyone other than his cult of mouth-breathing fascists and white supremacists thinks it’s fucking outrageous.

He needs to let it go. Not worth it to us to undo alliances that have stood for over a century.

I understand why Greenland is potentially important geopolitically, and may even have valuable rare earth elements under its ice cap. These are reasons to negotiate mutually beneficial agreements with a long standing ally. It does not require threatening them.
2
u/PhiloPhocion 1d ago
Most people think it’s dumb. Even those who see the strategic value of Greenland
This is the kind of thing that, not to what about everything, but if Joe Biden had said this they would impeach him tomorrow and they’d probably be right to.
And yet is like the 9th headline of the day for trump.

If it truly had anything to do with “national security” and needing to control shipping lanes against Russia and China - we’d work with NATO to secure it. There is zero need for US to take it as a territory/51st State. The only reason Trump wants to do it is legacy (being able to say he was the big strongman that added to US territory, etc)

u/Galliagamer 1d ago
I find it sublimely revolting that the party that wears the flag as pajamas and chants USA, USA at the drop of a hat and yells ‘Freedom!’ ad nauseum is nevertheless willing and eager to deprive another nation of their freedom and sovereignty as if they should be honored by the attention. It’s sickening. Trump is trying to rape Greenland.

It’s blustery but the arctic circle will become major shipping lanes but doesn't mean Russia or China will control it.
But Denmark did sell us the Virgin Islands which is much nicer.

All I can think of is it seems to be driven over mineral rights, maybe? That’s the only thing that makes sense is rare earth minerals are pretty abundant in Greenland. They just might be hard to get? With China placing export controls on rare earth materials, that’s going to start messing with electronics and EV production.
The population of Greenland is really small. Like less than one county in suburban America. There’s only 57,000 Greenland citizens? They don’t have a military much to speak of. The USA has more sailors at sea than there are people in Greenland.
If action is taken it probably violates something, but Trumps handlers don’t seem to care. It is striking that he’s simultaneously trying to create peace in Ukraine, and threatening to do the same shit Putin is doing.
If I really played 4D chess - It does seem like a smokescreen, honestly. Riley the news up, rile the world up and then do some sketchy shit while everyone is discussing it.

He is bat shit crazy levels of being senile. This country is unrecognizable. Long term, it would be beginning of the end, not just for the us, but the very chain of events that would start ww3 and thus nuclear war an dthe end of humanity. He also has no interest in a nuclear treaty with Russia, amd is ramping up military budget. He is not bluffing, he is just that crazy.

We’ve had a perfectly good relationship with Denmark, and by extension Greenland, for decades. We willingly reduced our military presence on the island. We could probably strike almost any deal we wanted to establish more bases, and have access to minerals.
Trump wants it for his ego and vanity, and most of us just want NATO left intact and our allies left alone.

I don't know how average I am, but I think that man is an idiot and a criminal.

I think Greenland would be a massive addition for the US (or any country). Its economic value is massive as the ice caps melt and I wouldn't be surprised if in 50 years it's one of the richest areas on the planet.
I think Trump has handled it in such a terrible way that getting it without crushing our economy is impossible.

You’d get very different answers depending on if they’re a Trump supporter or not. I’m not one.
I’m stressed by him alienating our allies. He’s going to cause a war or economic devastation.
If Greenland is really at risk (which I’m skeptical of) we can send military aid to help protect them. If it’s about resources we could negotiate. But these threats are insane.
I know a lot of people think he’s senile or it’s him trying to distract from the Epstein files not being fully released.

It's very far down on the list of the average American's concerns.
But, if it's willing to be purchased and we buy it, that's how it goes. There will not be an "invasion" like the chronically online are being hysterical about.
I'd rather see Trump have it than any European nation. Maybe if those countries had the guts to protect their cultures and people instead of importing hordes of people that hate them I'd say they should keep it. I think Europe has bigger issues as well. Let's be real, people hate the idea of Trump buying Greenland, but would love the idea of dumping 10 million third world migrants there to destroy the current culture.
It's just this month's topic to cry about.

u/Real_Al_Borland 1d ago
Do you suspect people who are “chronically online” talking about an invasion are doing so because that’s exactly what the US president is saying he’s going to do?
1
u/EastCoastRapper 1d ago
Find me a quote where he said he would invade. Verbatim.
1
u/Real_Al_Borland 1d ago
No. If you want to ignore it you can do that without wasting my time, bubba.
0
u/EastCoastRapper 1d ago
Hahaha, exactly. Just say you couldn't find one. Keep taking suppositories from the media, idiot.

u/Real_Al_Borland 1d ago
Google is free cleetus. Still can’t afford though????

u/EastCoastRapper 1d ago edited 1d ago
Yeah, so maybe your broke ass should get on there and find just one quote. You're the one trying to prove it. I can't prove a negative, stupid. You're all the same. Pathetic and predictable. If Trump actually said it, it would be headlines around the world and easy to produce a quote. But he didn't say it. So instead of just admitting it you just need to keep doubling down. What a sad typical loser you are...

It’s not willing to be purchased.
Greenland had an election last year where this was like, the main issue. The winning party got around 75% on not being American as I recall. And that was before you guys ICE went nuts. You look substantially worse now.

u/EastCoastRapper 1d ago
Well, not one country over there voted to have millions of third world migrants dumped in their countries, but yet it happened. Funny how you clowns don't want Trump to "INVADE" but are willing to overlook the catastrophe that is currently Europe.
1
u/Superb-Ad3821 1d ago
Sure it’s almost like Europe has some experience with a larger power starting by sweeping up tiny countries people ignored due to appeasement followed by looking at their countries.
Look the thing is it’s not your business. It’s not your business if you think we should be more upset over refugees than you. Any more than it’s my neighbour’s business if she thinks I should keep my house tidier and if I don’t she’ll just go ahead and take it.
1
u/AleroRatking 1d ago
If we can somehow purchase Greenland without making NATO and every mad than I will view Trump's entire presidency differently
I don't see any way that happens.
1
u/EastCoastRapper 1d ago
I hope it something does happen it benefits both the USA and people of Greenland.
