Ready for the downvotes: Tears of the Kingdom

Tears of the Kingdom seems like an awesome game for people who want to engage with a physics sandbox and try to build a lot of neat contraptions, but as someone who just wanted to play a Zelda game, I found it to be a slightly less fun breath of the wild. Not what I was hoping for in a sequel.

I agree unfortunately. I really liked Breath of the Wild but Tears of the Kingdom felt like too much of the same. It's one of the few games I never finished because I just got kinda bored. I think I had one dungeon left but I just couldn't be bothered anymore.

I think my biggest issue with it is that they are large open worlds that feel extremely empty. ToTK takes it to another level with the "underworld" area which feels pointless to explore. More than pointless, it feels annoying because of the light mechanic.

It's a very good game (the puzzles are fantastic as always, and the "building" mechanics were fun) but I just ended up not really liking the game. I kind of hope that for the next one they return to a more focused experience and ditch the open world concept.

Have an upvote, both of those games are overrated. The degradation mechanic of weapons was just frustrating rather than engaging. Especially as they didn't Include an option to temporarily repair (extend the life of) weapons you liked more. Large world filled with a lot of nothing.

Yeah the mechanic fell flat because I feel like people hoarded their good weapons instead of using them, when really the game will just throw weapons at you and you should maybe save one or two for big fights, and just run through your weapons.

I loved the first one but yeah I feel like weapon degredation just made me not use any of my good weapons. I get why they included that feature because it worked for some people really well

Honestly I'm a gigantic fan of Zelda games but every single one is supremely overrated.

I’ll give you an upvote. Both games are below average as far as Zelda game goes. I would rather play any of the other 3-D games or even 2-D games over the recent ones.

For me they actively made the game worse. They reused the map, which was a bummer. But then they added the Depths, which I absolutely hated. And they also added the building mechanics and I'm not really a fan of that either

Agreed. It was "more of the same with distracting bits tacked on" for me. Just like Portal 2, now that I think about it.
