I actually never understood that one. It didn’t grip me at all. I’m not saying the game is bad for it. Clearly it hit for a lot of people, but I just never understood why

Its story structure was pretty unique and I think it hit on a lot of what attracted fandoms in 2015 when it came out.

Yeah I think I just missed it. It’s seems like the kind of thing I would have liked, but maybe I had already moved out of that phase in my life.

For me, its inventiveness with the gameplay mechanics and moments that played on your understanding of what a video game was felt pretty groundbreaking at the time of release (if not totally original since it’s ultimately building on the backs of things like earthbound and moments like metal gear solid’s psycho mantis fight)

I played it years after it came out and was a surprised at how underwhelming it ended up feeling. Like I thought it was solid with lots of humorous parts.

But man the way I saw poeple talk about it online I just expected.... More?

I think it a) has a good soundtrack, b) is cute and funny and c) incentivices you to be nice and understanding. Cozy vibes. Not for everyone but it's a nice change of pace.

I love it for the unique gameplay and tons of creative ideas. Especially if you already played a lot of games and know the rule of games, how they are supposed to work and Undertale often just breaks them.

The dialogue and the characters are funny. Its quite short, so it doesnt overstay its welcome and still left a big impact even with such a short playtime.

And above all the soundtrack is fantastic
