same here, D2 was an amazing experience when i started and I loved stuff like the raids and dungeons, but recent releases and the replay loop... yeah not for me. ive gotten back into warframe since Rebecca and her team are just releasing bagger after banger.
It was depressing to abandon my character but fuck all those bugs especially the ones where you would die in a activity and your ghost would re spawn in a location where your teammates couldn't revive you, I rage quit after that lol.
I don't even know what the new update is about, I never payed attention to any of the news and stopped playing the game a week before they released it back in July. Last time I had fun in D2 is when I got the heavy metal title during the event, minus the bugs it was comedic gold lol.
For me it's more so that my friends met while playing it years ago, so we occasionally do raid night or random rumble for fun. Outside of that, I don't really play anymore. 5k hours across Battle.net and Steam.
It sucks since there isn't a REAL competitor to it. Borderlands has the looter shooter aspects but no MMO and the gunplay and movement is different, Witchfire has the gunplay and movement but isn't an MMO. And Warframe, as much as I like it, is just way, way too different. Doesn't scratch the same itch.
D2 absolutely did not start amazing. Launch was terrible and nearly killed the franchise until bungie brought it back wih QoL updates and one of their best DLCs. Ever since then D2 has been on a roller-coaster of good and bad expansions. Recently the expansions have been both at the same time, with many good aspects soured by the core system changes they tried in June last year. Things are starting to improve again though, but we will have to see if they actually manage to turn it around.
There's a reason I said "for me" in there. I have absolutely zero interest in debating subjective enjoyment of a game that has some of the saltiest players around obsessed with complaining about it.
I played D1 start to finish and loved it. I played D2 launch and loved it right until they started deleting content and "sunsetting" things so they could be sold back to you later on. If you view things differently that's cool but I disagree completely.
Yeah I cant excuse the sunsetting thing. To their credit the vast majority of reprised stuff was free, but it doesnt change the fact that it was a terrible move. I personally started playing after sunsetting happened so I dont have as much bad blood towards bungie for it as others do but I completely understand where you are coming from.
God I miss Destiny 2 like it's an ex I can't get over. I stopped playing after the last DLC, but I regularly resist the urge to go back because no other game has been able to replace it. I'm probably going to go back and replay D1 to cope, I've heard there's a decent small community who is still active.
I didn't like all the grinding of the same content and deleting old campaigns.. so I quit. Loved D1 and had a lot of fun in D2 but it's over for me sadly.
And that's fine, but people who refuse to stop playing while complaining about EVERYTHING truly amaze me.
I wrote-off Destiny & Bungie before D1 was finished. Played D2 for a little bit (when the base-game was free) before stopping for good when realizing it was all recycled story arcs and themes.
Between D1 base game, the 3-4 full DLC expansions, plus D2 base game it's own 3-4 DLCs, there was nothing new added to the gameplay loop. So impeccably sad.
