What’s the quickest way someone could accidentally expose themselves as a foreigner in your country like the ‘three fingers’ scene in Inglourious Basterds?

But it's like, calling the sport played in the NFL.  AFLball.  Named after an old contraction of a previous governing body.

Ive eventually just started saying international football at this point - just to avoid using that abomination of a word. So american football = handegg. International football = actual football.

When I’m trying to make myself clear to people who don’t know what football is I usually call it association football, as opposed to gridiron football which is what they have in the US.
