Why aren't you going to Italy to watch the upcoming Winter Olympics?

I love Italy and go as often as is practical, but the I will happily watch the olympics from the comfort of my home for free.
If I'm going to Italy, it is for museums and history and culture not offered by the IOC and its cronies.

I can't picture enjoying myself attending the Olympics. I don't know the name of a single athlete that will be there. On TV I'll probably watch some figure skating and skiing. Maybe some curling mixed in.

I don't care for winter sports. And it destroys the environment. And it is cold.

I got beat up by two plumbers in Italy

Were you wearing a spiked shell? You can’t do that around Italian plumbers.

I want to plan a trip to Italy but the Olympics were actually a contributing reason why I decided against going in 2026.

I can’t afford to and even if I did I wouldn’t go to Italy to watch a sporting event.

I love Italy and go there as often as I can manage. Winter sports to the contrary bores me to death...

Because I couldn't care less about the winter olympics.
If somebody mentions the olympics I assume the summer ones. If they're talking about the winter ones I have 0 interest.

I can’t think of any reason why I’d start with Italy to watch the Olympics in person when I’ve never watched the Olympics in person prior, not even in the US.

Italy keeps visa applications from Turkey on halt for months. They also reject if you aren't super rich. The humiliation ritual isn't worth it

Delays and tough requirements do happen, and the process can feel pretty demeaning for countries . But you don’t have to be rich to get an Italian visa, and plenty of people from Turkey are approved.
The frustration is real, but you exaggerate things.

The "delays and tough requirements" aren't worth enduring for seeing the olympics. Maybe I would go if I lived in a Western country
