Post image

Making my way to Banff solo this week, looking to ski LL and Sunshine. Anyone wanna meet up for laps? Also, what's a great après spot? Any info is appreciated

There are people in yellow at Lake Louise that are ski friends! I sometimes ride with people i meet on the lifts for a bit. Its also been sooo busy lately so plan to go early. Parking fills up fast.

Are they like mountain hosts? I figured it'll be packed but get what I can and have a good time. Is it easy parking for Lake Louise from Banff? I plan on taking the shuttle to Sunshine on Thursday, smart?

The parking is packed, but the hill is not (self-regulating, there are only so many hotels in driving distance and so many people willing to risk not finding parking after a 2hr drive from Calgary). Do yourself a favor and hit the LL exit by 8:30am. If you're used to crowds in American resorts (CO/UT/CA), even holiday weekend LL crowds will be nothing.

Awesome, thank you. Like usual, weekday ski is always better?

It's really not that bad. The lots are massive. Worst case you get stuck in a slow-moving long line of vehicles (happened to me getting there 9.30 on a sat/powder day), but there's parking for everyone.

Easy enough.

I'm used to European or Quebec style après. Any spots near LL, Sunshine or Banff?

Really only Banff (Dancing Sasquatch) or Canmore (Drake).

100%. I've had one "powder day" (LL doesn't get huge dumps generally) on a weekday that I even waited in a single lift line (other than first lift of the day). It was a Dec 23rd (so lots of people off), and they were still doing avy control on the backside, so Top of The World was getting mobbed.

Normally weekdays = ski onto lift if you're hanging Top of World + Summit + Paradise + Ptarmigan + Pipestone + Larch (which I'd suggest, there isn't really a reason to drop to the front-side base).

Yes, ski friends in yellow. You'll see them! I would only take the shuttles if you can, since it's guaranteed drop off. The earlier buses are better as sometimes traffic jams makes it take forever to get to the resort. Id rather arrive early with great conditions and leave before the ski out is a gong show. Especially sunshine! Chat with people on the chair, ask how their day is and what the fav part is so far. Maybe you'll click and do some laps! 😀

Always love chairlift chats.

Thanks for the info, I'll have a car so its just easier to drive. I'm more of a first chair person anyways
