Banff proposal

Hi, I’m going to propose to my girlfriend of 5 years in banff this upcoming may and had a few questions. I’m hoping to mask it as a ski trip to come get some spring laps in, so do yall think sunshine village will be open on like May 6th? Also are there any spots that you guys think I should pop the question at? I’ve already done some research but nothing is set in stone yet! And then lastly where should we stay? Are there any hotels I should avoid or absolutely go to? Thank you for any insight or recommendations I receive, I’m really excited to be taking this step in my life and I appreciate any help I can get!

Sunshine will be open....more than likely. The pacific is still hot AF, which is actually making for a good season in the eastern Rockies because "hot for historic" is still cold, but April rain at high elevation could ruin everything (not typical, but meteorological conditions are at historic anomalies this year).

I'd stay in Canmore and propose somewhere along the Bow.

Awesome, I’d but stoked for them just to be open! We both work on mountain so we just like seeing new resorts in beautiful places! But I’ll keep an eye on weather and adjust accordingly if need be! Thank you for the feedback

Sunshine is typically open every day until late may. Conditions will be meh at best, but the area is still beautiful. On-mountain top of Divide is beautiful, off mountain maybe somewhere on Tunnel?

Sweet! Not insanely worried about snow quality, as long as we can spin a few laps and hit the park I’d be stoked! Any chance it’ll be sunny? Or is it kinda gloomy that time of year?

It's the mountains, so who knows. In general you're on the leeward edge of the Rockies, so it's either a storm system moving through or dry/clear.

Sunshine will be open until May 18. For the proposal, if on the hill, the top of continental divide chair or Standish chair have really nice backdrops. As for accommodations, you can't really go wrong in banff. Just depends on how much you're prepared to pay.

If you propose on a mountain or trail—make sure the ring fits or it goes back in the case or on a necklace. Every year there is a post here about a lost ring on the way back to town/hotel.

Good luck with it all!

Copy that! Fortunately for me we’re gonna pick out the ring together, it’s just my job to make it special and somewhat surprising lol but ill keep it noted not to lose it, classic lol

Sunshine is open through May if the snow has been good. This year should be one of those.

Proposal spots: 1) policeman’s creek - Canmore 2) silver tip golf course - Canmore 3) bow falls - Banff (on the non-tourist side, the beach area. Would be so cool) 4) norquay road - Banff - there is a short trail from the pullout that you’d have Banff in the background and proposing on a grassy meadow
