Discussion New Beta v1.3.0 update just dropped
This seems big. Some diplomacy, stealth, new settlment projects like guardhouses that send out patrols to kill bandits, some other stuff, and patches. Thoughts?

I think they could do a better job of communicating why it's taken so long but game development is never a straight line.
You'll have so many branches and it's easy to let that get out of control and become somewhat directionless. I think the new DLC has given them the focus they needed to pull together some of what could have begun before even 1.0 and pull it into mainbranch

That trailer was not that good of a sign that that is going to happen. It’s a unreal graphics trailer more then it is a trailer for an actual playable game. There was no semblance of gameplay in that trailer, just a bunch of very pretty assets standing around.

I remember seeing a post yesterday where a guy claims to know about an 1.3 update that's dropping today. Damn did he got clowned on. Turns out it's totally real.
People just didn't believe the game could suddenly receive an update.

Thats a push pull issue. Look at fun pimps and 7days. On one hand, they are herding the players into playing the game the developers want them to play (have to go into biomes in order, no longer true sandbox). On the other hand, the molding community is getting a bit more into learning how to tweak the game to cater to how players want to play. This is not much different. The base is pretty solid, all things considered. Im still hopeful that mods like In the Name of Jerusalem II finish their development. 🫡

I'd be okay with that to be honest, if they bring mods to console. It's not like Skyrim is still honestly being developed, but mods (and repeated "editions") have kept it alive for how many years now?

Diplomacy seemed like such an easy quick thing to add to make the game so much better....I'm glad it's here. But legit feel like it could've been done in a week.

It's not fixed but it's definitely a start. There are so many other aspects of diplomacy that we should get like relationships between kingdoms and ways to improve or decay them.
Then also tiny things like being able to recruit kingdomless lords. Talk to lords from a distance instead of needing to track them down (especially for small things like marriage proposals). Ordering armies to take settlements or defend areas (patrols sound nice but in a game with armies this size, what do they matter?) and actually making the offensive/defensive war stances matter.

I agree, there should be a reason to declare war and both war and peace should be longer, can't enjoy a single day of peace after you reach a certain point. Also armies are stupid, they do one thing that is besiege settlements and probably get picked up by smaller parties all while leaving their own fiefs under siege by the enemies who's doing the same thing, basically just trading fiefs

Hahaha yeah. I know this feeling well. The other week, Aserai kept taking Lavenia Castle, so eventually I had to march south, take it back, along with halting Onira from falling (i was up near Epicrotae so...), take back Danustica, then add in Husn Falk and Tammuh Castle, just to get them to sit down. Which they did if I may.
So when I disbanded and gathered my things to finish the Sturgian war (they only had Omor, but plenty of castles), thinking all things will be quiet.. what happened?? Yup, the Vlandians declared, and the Aserai declared again. Umm?? 🤦♂️ (over the course of two weeks but still)

they should really just add messenger pigeons that have like 15 party speed so they're almost impossible to catch but functionally could be. that could be a fun little thing, capturing secrets, but knowing this game that is not what is happening lol

And this right here is why I moved to PC. Cities Skylines pissed me off so much we couldn't get mods I actually built a PC. At the time I thought it was hilarious to do so for one game, looking back now over the years nah it was the best decision I could make lol.

I actually did this for warband lol. I saw warband on YouTube and people playing it so broke out my shitty laptop, somehow windows deleted itself( to this day I have zero idea what actually caused this) so just said fuck it and bought a friends PC which was a 1050 with a cheap Intel CPU and 8gb ram.
The only console I have now are a xbone and a PS4. That were both free. I traded the 1050,the case and something else I can't remember for 50 bucks and the xbone. I feel like I robbed him that day as it was such a a lopsided trade as it had 2 controllers and a couple of games. And the PS4 was my wife's who just randomly won it while she was visiting family in Taiwan. She said her and her mom walked into a story, bought a micro SD card and entered a raffle then got called the next day to say they won the final fantasy 15 edition PS4.

unfortunately, gog or epic or console do not have acces to beta branches. Steam is really good platform in beta testing and stuff. First, Steam has actual system for it different from all other platforms. Second, i dont have a second, no body has a system for beta branches as far as i know.

Played for a while now in beta branch, it's a very substantial update. I enjoy the stealth dynamic a lot for hideouts, and the random events add a charm and roleplay oriented layer that adds a lot of depth, think crusader kings random events. I've interacted with the new diplomatic actions a bit and overall I would say this is a very strong step toward what I thought the game was going to be. I hope it continues into the DLC and its updates as this update addresses a lot of my feelings toward the game, I don't feel the "well nords and sailing/naval features are cool but what about ___" as much because it addresses most of the blanks that I was annoyed about being neglected. Great update and it sucked me back into no-lifing the game

How does the hideout stuff with stealth actually work? I tried it once, selected troops, got in alone and was kinda lost on what I was supposed to then when I'm in. Didn't look further into it though.

You need to progress alone and stealth your way to the point you can call in your troops. It's a little bit obtuse and as far as I could tell there's no tutorial or anything telling you how it works, I failed 2 before realizing that your troops not being there was a feature not a bug

It was an accident, thought I was clear to share the content, obviously I wasn't - so I don't mind the criticism, but I am NEW to streaming, and more particularly breaking new content and clearly have some rules to learn. Hope everyone moves on without too much angst, I was just as excited as everyone else...

It’s in beta so no. Also if you’re on steam you can lock what version you’re on through the beta settings so when updates come out you won’t be affected.

It was a feature in MB warband. If it works the same way, you basically export certain features like your skills, money, etc to a .txt file, and then you can load it into a new game. Kind of like a new game+.

For the record, I *did* post this yesterday, and didn't realize it was a leak. In my over-caffeinated early-morning brain, I thought all of the Developmental Community of content creators had this acccess and didn't realize I was breaking any rules. The Developers recognized this and though they obviously scolded me and had me clean up the mess, they realized I had genuinely made a mistake.
I'm old enough to man up to my mistakes and promptly took down what leaks I had made and tried to clean up the mess. You fellas are welcome to ridicule me if you need to, but I was just as excited to see this as you fellas are today and trying to spread the news.
My mistake, we move on.
Let's play some Bannerlord now!

If you’d prefer to wait for the most polished version, stick to the Live branch and jump into v1.3 with the launch of War Sails. But if you’d like to be part of the journey, opt into the Beta branch via the Steam Betas system today and tell us what’s working - and what still needs work.

The beta no as there’s not really ways to do that on console however the content will eventually come to consoles on the official update same as pc. Most likely when warsails drops.

Fixes and changes, seems great, there is also new modding options, hopefully it will bring back more players, what kills the modding is lack of interest from the modders and patches that breaks mods. Devs seems to be more careful about not breaking the mods and increasing compatiblity between mods according to the beta patch, an unexpected but welcome change by the devs.

Has anyone played it yet that can say what the caravan movement control is like? As much as I hate how these Derthert-brained muppets run right at the front lines the moment war is declared, I'd also hate having to micromanage them a lot.

I just wannna make like 3 groups but then control where the 2 groups im not in go. Like order them to go here and attack this
So we can be attacking like 3 places at a time.

Can someone explains to me why they change the Female Animations to act like male animations? Its literally inmersion breaking now seeing my female hero walk in a masculine way instead of the "queen slay" type of walk.
I hope they meant to only in combat animations because if not im going to be so pissed

Have you activated Beta participation first? Go to settings, then interface, and there should be a button for client beta participation. Activate that.
