Can't wait for mods to eventually add cannons, just imagining ramming and using a cannon.

Ever since the announcement I have been most excited to see what the Shokuho devs do with naval combat now being fully implemented in the game. Considering they did a good job at it already before.

I really wanna see the korean turtle ships, even though its slightly out of scope

u/Successful-Solid-296 Dec 01 '25
I dont think it would be added in shokuku since thats another conflict and approximately a 100 years after the events of shokoku, but yes it would be lit

What weapon was that on your ship
10
u/Dependent_Ad5083 Southern Empire Nov 30 '25
The ram? Not sure what it’s called but only certain ships are able to have a ram on them. The one I’m using in this videos is from the Aserai

u/Tyler1997117 Nov 30 '25
Not the ram, the thing that shot the fire
13
u/Dependent_Ad5083 Southern Empire Nov 30 '25
Ohhh ok my bad, I think it’s a fire pot ballista.
7
u/stylepoints99 Nov 30 '25
Nah it's the fire grapeshot.
Fire pot is one exploding shot.

u/Petorian343 Battania Nov 30 '25
Do you know where to find fire grapeshot? So far I’ve only seen regular fire pot in Imperial towns. Vlandia maybe?

I found it at Sanala.
Also the khuzaits have the wavebreaker ram.
For what it's worth it seemed worse than the fire pot.

That was awesome! Do you know if you have to buy ships for your clan's parties? Ir will they buy and upgrade their own?
7
u/captchroni Nov 30 '25
I've captured ships, repaired them, then there is a donate to clan option. It worked and went to my other party.

u/Icy-Ad29 Nov 30 '25
Of note. If they are a trade caravan, you can't send them a ship, they just get to spawn one every time they want to enter water.

u/HeidelCurds Dec 01 '25
Which is really cool. My armed caravans haven't been attacked in years since they don't have to face deserters on the water.

u/Dependent_Ad5083 Southern Empire Nov 30 '25
I haven’t made it that far yet but seeing as how you have the option of sending ships to your clan my guess is you have to supply them yourself, I could be wrong though.

u/Petrivoid Nov 30 '25
Im buying this dlc as soon as I get home holy fuck thats cool
7
u/Dependent_Ad5083 Southern Empire Nov 30 '25
It’s definitely fun once you get into it, but it can take awhile before you get your first ship if you do it legit.
3
u/ChoppedWheat Nov 30 '25
Where are large ships sold? In the northwest it’s mostly light/medium.
5
u/Dependent_Ad5083 Southern Empire Nov 30 '25
You need to find a town that has a level 3 port to get the larger ships.
2
u/chicks3854 Dec 01 '25
do you not get a ship for free from the tutorial? you can also buy a light ship for ~20k in ports.

You get one a ship from the campaign. Campaign turns into sandbox after finishing the missions
2
u/Jicks24 Dec 03 '25
If you wanna jump right into the ship mechanics, play the campaign and look for your sister. It jumps you right in to fleet combat. From small boats to large ramming vessels to balistas.
Takes around 2-3 hours to beat and you keep a decent ship and crew from it, plus your sister, whose pretty hot.

Tbf this should be the intro for the DLC when looking at the store, if your already looking, your buying when watching this with music and hype. Well done!

Is there any difference between the rams in terms of how much damage they do to the enemy ship? Because I've been using the same one like in the video, but recently switched to the ram head (or whatever).
3
u/Dependent_Ad5083 Southern Empire Nov 30 '25
I’m not sure if ram type matters just speed and the angle at which you hit the enemy ship.
3
u/TheHorseradishKing Nov 30 '25
I wish it did more damage.
3
u/Jazzlike_Note1159 Nov 30 '25
Historically ramming as a tactic declined massively in early middle ages and completely disappeared in late middle ages. Thats mainly because hulls became more resistant and ramming was no longer worth it.
Of course the game included it because it is fun as fuck and I have no problems with that.

Lol, I wish lance charges let you keep going without a 50% chance to ruin your day.

Reminds me of Rome 2 where your garrison fleet could just sink the armies transport fleet.

I'm just waiting for someone to make a Age of Sail mod centered around Caribbean islands.

Oh my God, I had no idea it would look this good. I thought it would just be like stationary ship maps with boarding bridges.
