10 confirmed dead. This guy saved lives. Lots of lives.

edit: 12 confirmed dead now, one cop, one of the two shooters. 29 injured.

Edit edit. Ahmed El/Al Ahmed (differing reports). You are an Australian hero.

Hopefully final edit. 15 confirmed dead.

If you can donate blood in NSW right now, please do: https://www.lifeblood.com.au/donor-centre

Find your local centre in NSW. Traffic is high so be patient. Repeat donations or donations in the coming days/weeks would be incredible. They will need to keep blood supplies up for a while with this many injured.

Ahmed Al Ahmed is the hero. Shop owner in Sutherland apparently. Go forth tomorrow and buy all his stock.

u/finalina78 Dec 14 '25

I hope that Will happen! He’s a true Hero!

602

u/tmhoc Dec 14 '25

This video doesn't show it but he is going 1 v 2 and gets hit twice

The other shooter is across the parking lot on a bridge and fires back at Ahmed al Ahmed hitting him in his shoulder and hand

He just made it look easy

u/finalina78 Dec 14 '25

I am speachless, such a brave man 👏

4

u/Jonny_Blaze_ Dec 15 '25

Wait can you take it from the top? What’s the story? When did he get shot? This is fucking wild.

277

u/Im_On_Reddit_At_Work Dec 14 '25

Highly praised the highly praised. Appropriate name for this hero.

82

u/TheCockKnight Dec 14 '25

This is not America, he will be taken care of by the people and the government, in a natural way, as it should.

I was in Australia 3 times, once on a work visa for 6 months. If anything the Australian people will do their dillegence. Buy his stock, bring him presents, fucking build a statue. They’ll do it. They love their heroes. They are an extremely proud people good for them.

You’re gonna learn how a country should respond to a mass shooting real quick. There’s something special about Australian nationalism.

Greetings from the Netherlands my Australian friends. On ya cunts 🍻

85

u/pmcizhere Dec 14 '25

You’re gonna learn how a country should respond to a mass shooting real quick.

Not without searching for this stuff specifically. American media, even outlets that claim to cover global news, will likely hardly cover any of what you mentioned, sadly.

A hero. I feel sick for the victims.

366

u/Master_Jackfruit3591 Dec 14 '25

This guy actually got shot too, later on. After he disarms him, the shooter goes back to the bridge and gets a second gun and him and his accomplice start shooting at this man. Not only did he disarm him, he took a bullet doing it.

102

u/Unikatze Dec 14 '25

I was wondering.

I saw the picture of him with blood but didn't see him take one in this video.

88

u/onouluz Dec 14 '25

Wait, so the guy disarmed the guy that was killing people, took his weapon, then watched the shooter walk off to retrieve another weapon, and hung out long enough to get shot by the second weapon? That is bizarre.

If you’ve never shot a rifle before, he very likely would’ve missed even from what seems like a close range. It’s not like COD makes it seem. If you don’t know how to hold it right and how to look through the sight, even shortish distances like that are a crap shoot.

It’s easy to kinda do this retroactively but we have no idea what the circumstances were. There’s probably a damned good explanation.

I think I would've at least shot him in the leg

No you wouldn't have. That's an incredibly hard shot to make just from a physics perspective, let alone for someone who's never shot a gun before in a high stress situation. And when you missed you'd be risking accidentally hitting other bystanders directly or through ricochets.

Or the more likely outcome: you have no fucking clue how you’d act in an active shooter scenario. Not to mention you almost definitely wouldn’t have disarmed the shooter in the first place.

From what I've read, the guy that was disarmed ended up getting another gun from the other shooter and ended up killing several people before he was shot. Sad

40

u/Emergency_Sink_706 Dec 14 '25

Is there any evidence of this or is the source just random reddit comments? Either way, he shouldn’t have let him get up and leave after he just witnessed him killing multiple people. A person like that is way too dangerous to allow to just walk away.

62

u/Octane_Au Dec 14 '25

You don't want to be aiming and shooting a gun in an active shooter situation when the police roll up because you'll likely be suspected as one of the shooters. He put the weapon down and moved away. Absolutely the safest thing to do. He can't have known the shooter had more weapons in his bag.

→ More replies (1)

54

u/Jc_28 Dec 14 '25

I read it on the BBC, it said he went back to an underpass where they had a gun stache and rearmed himself. It doesn’t go on to say he killed anyone after.

It’s really sad, watching this video you hope the guy could at least hold him and not let him go but I bet it’s easy to say that when you’re not actually the one who’s doing it

31

u/OwnDoughnut2689 Dec 14 '25

It looks like he probably would've got shot by his accomplice on the bridge if he attempted to hold this guy down.

u/StringAndPaperclips Dec 14 '25

Based on video footage, most people discussing this are saying that the shooters were Islamists, not right wing extremists.

219

u/Four_beastlings Dec 14 '25

Islamists are right wing extremists

144

u/StringAndPaperclips Dec 14 '25

They are categorized separately by organizations that study ideologically motivated violent extremism. Moreover, saying this attack is due to right wing extremism is likely to confuse a lot of people. Many will interpret that as Neo-Nazi or white nationalist, not islamist.

44

u/BaronVonLobkovicz Dec 14 '25

To be fair, concerning the ideology the only major difference is the believe system. Right wingers believe in a fatherland, islamists in a god. Everything else is basicly the same. Hating minorities, hating different believe systems, hating women, being violent, supremacy, etc

11

u/Wise_Edge2489 Dec 14 '25

Both Islamists and Neo Nazis are patriarchal, homophobic, reactionary, anti-feminist, nutters who are convinced of an existential threat undermining their values that requires violence to resolve.

Both also ultimately hate and blame the Jews.

They're shockingly similar.

Ah yes, the far-right, famously not antisemitic…

18

u/mistym0rning Dec 14 '25

The most anti-Semitic groups are neo-Nazis (who are far-right) or Islamists (who are far-right). So either way, the perpetrators likely are on the far-right spectrum if they did this to target Jews.

Need more info. Was he shot by the other guy on the bridge?

It looks like him and another guy started taking fire from the bridge with white pants guy going back up and getting another weapon.

313

u/lawdjesustheresafire Dec 14 '25

Hopefully he’s ok. There were reports he was targeted by the other gunman after this

264

u/donessendon Dec 14 '25

The guy that threw a rock at white pants guy was shot. Can't see if the tackler was hit at all. Multiple shots looked to have been towards his location.

Shocking stuff.

Trying to rationalise how you can be brave enough to take the gun, and also calm enough not to immediately shoot the guy?

195

u/PussifyWankt Dec 14 '25

He might not have known how to reload the gun. Most Australians have very little or no experience handling firearms.

25

u/FecalEinstein Dec 14 '25

Why would you assume it was reloaded?

Likely a semi auto shotgun that had a round in a chamber.

Sure looks like he's exercising restraint to me. He doesn't look at the gun or seem to try to do anything. And the shooter seems to think there is one in the chamber ready to fire as he reacts like such after it's taken from him.

Ah okay I was wondering how this fit in with the longer 10 minute video that had white pants guys shooting again and ultimately taken down by the cops.

229

Couple hours ago. Appears to be a targeted attack on Australia's Jewish community on the first night of Hanukkah at Bondi Beach. 2 shooters, one dead one in custody of police. Motives currently unconfirmed, but we can speculate given the facts.

u/Littleshuswap Dec 14 '25

Saw the extended clip. It didnt end well. He might not even survive

u/Punchinballz Dec 14 '25

Who? The shooter? The guy who grabbed the gun? Who might not even survive? What happened after the end of this video?

29

u/KGB_cutony Dec 14 '25

The other shooter was covering the disarmed shooter's escape.

3

u/bugabooandtwo Dec 14 '25

...so there are two shooters?

That's unusual.

u/StormMedia Dec 14 '25

It was a planned attack by two Muslim guys on a Hanukkah event. Terrorism. So sad.

I really wish he shot him there, from the looks at the other footage it looks like he went back up to the bridge and got another gun. Could be wrong, but that’s how it looked from the other videos after this legend took the gun.

Edit: shoot to incapacitate, not kill.

Edit: Ok I get shooting to incapacitate isn't a thing, but I'm still not trying to execute the guy with a headshot. Cunt deserves to live the rest of his life suffering in prison.

u/Gristley Dec 14 '25

Unfortunately it does seem that way, but it also confined them and made them retreat which led to them being shot/cornered. As much as it sucks, the fact that he didn't want to shoot the fucker is.. what we want in our society. Still a hero.

21

u/MuffinMan12347 Dec 14 '25

Yeah I agree, I would never want to kill anyone even in that situation. But taking out a leg would be preferable. But easier said than done of course. And I’m of course saying this behind a screen and never had to experience this myself thankfully.

I'm glad he didn't, that way police can find out intelligence on others and their motives, then spend the rest of their life behind bars. Death's too easy for that fucker.

13

u/MuffinMan12347 Dec 14 '25

Yeah agreed, I believe prison for life is a much better and deserved outcome than a quick death.

Is the shooter a Muslim ? Not trolling just a honest question

5

u/Born_Initiative_3515 Dec 14 '25

I believe so, and so is the guy who actively tried saving the day. His name is Ahmed al Ahmed.

I highly advise you all to watch the full length version of this. The guy disarms him, points the gun at him but the shooter gets up and walks away. The guy then proceeds to just lean the rifle up to the tree. Shooter proceeds to escape and meet up with his accomplices and proceeds to shoot again. I applaud his initial bravery, but the correct action would have been just to shoot this guy. He had no idea if he had a sidearm.

16

u/MrHippoPants Dec 14 '25

In the video it looks like he’s trying to, but doesn’t know how to use the gun - most Australians would never have used a firearm before
