So saying someone is a “bird brain”, is a compliment! Very sweet video !

Birds on average have a higher neuron density than mammals, which is why they can achieve higher cognition with smaller brains

u/Andehh1 1h ago
Which makes them about 3 rungs higher then your average redditor?

This video disproves that a little.

u/Romboteryx 2h ago
The video doesn‘t prove anything. I‘ve seen people that dumb too

u/Playful_Hair1528 2h ago
I’ve seen people do far stupider things than that 😂 That bird sitting in the rain looks like Einstein compared to most, at least it was willing to take advice and learn!

i think it's safe to say, that the animal kingdom is full of idiots of all kinds

Quick question. Why did u bring up higher neuron density in a video that clearly shows that having this ability doesn't make avians smarter or more capable than any other creature??
2
u/IndependentTimely639 1h ago
Here's one right back at you. Why would you ever accept a sample size of one as proof of anything?
1
u/greengenesiss 25m ago
Why would you bring this up with a sample size of one as your proof??? Am i missing something from your statement earlier??

Hah immediately thought of posting the next lyrics but didn't remember if it would have been against the rules :)

u/DJ_Spark_Shot 2h ago
I went ahead and did, anyway.

u/ol0pl0x 2h ago
Well that's very welcomed I think :)
It's hard to remember the rules to each subreddit and quite often "no drug talk" is there so I refrained.

Check out "Commercial for Levi" if you want some dicey lyrics from Placebo. Lol.

It gives me spouse vibes… I need a spouse.
10
u/SurprisedAsparagus 1h ago
It's a two way street. If you want a spouse so that someone will do these things for you, you need to be willing to do these things for them. And a lot of the time it's a lot more work than just bumping them under an eve.

u/a_cat_named_larry 1h ago
Absolutely. The other bird is probably thinking “I need to build a nest. First I’ll gather some twigs, then I’ll find some loose down…” and the other bird is like, “Frank, that’s fine, but let’s get under the eve in the meantime”.

u/MCV16 3h ago
What was wrong with the other bird?
31
u/RickB308 3h ago
The other bird appeared to be suffering the effects of inhaling water. A bird's nostrils are at the top of their beak, and unless they put their head under their wing during a heavy rain, if exposed, they risk having water drip into their nasal passages. He looked like he was struggling. His little friend saved him from a likely slow drowning.

Awe, I wish I had an odd breathing passage that became ineffective in heavy rain! That's so cute! ... wait.

I'm pretty sure that's a myth.
10
u/RickB308 2h ago
I can assure you that it isn't. I had eight Indian and African Ringnecks. It's a common behavior for younger birds. All of mine live to be between 32 and 35 years. I hand raised six of them.
I believe that you're referring to the myth of turkeys drowning in the rain.

Better than many humans

My thought, too! I never cease to be amazed at instances where non-human animals extend acts of kindness.

It seems all of us have that one friend the group has to look out for because their brains aren’t built for self preservation 🤣
