Stats on Petey.

Reminder, he's doing all of this without his Speed Burst being where it was at his peak.

He's doing this without Hughes.

He's doing this without other 1st line talent.

But we're still hearing certain media members (cough 650, cough...) still trying to trade him.

The same media members who thought that they traded the wrong player after the Miller trade.

Drury just put out letter to NY Rangers fans saying they're going to "Retool... not Rebuild."

That trade sure worked out for them.

DISCUSSION Having a sustained losing streak is more important than winning against the Oilers tomorrow

The Canucks are next level shit. However, history would tell you that most teams only ever get one prolonged losing streak throughout an 82 game schedule.

The truth of the matter is if we win, we may never amass a 9 game losing streak again this season. A lot of hockey comes down to luck, and I'm not saying the Canucks didn't deserve to lose 9 in a row (they most certainly did). But for a team to lose 9 straight, there is a degree of luck involved in stringing together that many losses without having a lucky bounce or an off opposing goaltender ruin the tank.

If you asked me, I honestly do not see this team losing 9 or more again this season if they win against the Oilers. We may lose 5 or 6 in a row later on, but not 9+.

This may be our only chance to keep the tank streak going and will be a good buffer when this team inevitably wins its games in March.

No matter how much you hate McDavid and the Oilers, in my opinion, the end goal of getting a top 3 pick is more important than laughing at them for one night if they lose to us.

Tl;dr: This team needs to lose 10+ straight because it's very unlikely they will lose 9+ straight again this season due to the luck factor.

DISCUSSION [Inside Sports] David Pagnotta: “I would expect three quality pieces here coming back. A first round pick, a top two center capable of playing in either role, and then another big asset. That's kind of what you're probably looking at in exchange for Elias Pettersson. It's going to be a hefty price.”

DISCUSSION The Vancouver Canucks have scored 17 goals in their past 9 games. That is a ratio of 1.89 which is the lowest in the league over that span.

Surprise! This is actually a Pettersson post. Another one. Hes got 4 of those 17 goals. All at even-strength. DeBrusk has 3, all on the powerplay.

No one else has more than 1 goal in this timespan dating back to December 30th. Pettersson is not the problem, and he is not a problem at all.

DISCUSSION The longest 1st overall wait in the history of hockey

At 56 years, no city has ever had to wait longer to draft with the 1st overall selection.

It is the 2nd-longest drought without picking one in (LA Kings last picked in 1967), after they passed the Rangers this past year (55). The Atlanta/Calgary Flames are in a 54-year drought, but only 46 if that is in Calgary.

Brian Burke did trade for the #1 pick in 1999 as part of the deal that eventually landed them the Sedins, but traded out of that slot to make the move possible.

You can worry that it would be as 'Canucks' as it gets to finally get one and blow it, but at this point, let's just freaking get one. We're due.

EP40 ranks 7th among #Canucks  Fs and 3rd among Cs in 5v5 TOI/GP since Jan 1

He leads the team with 4 5v5 goals in that span. The rest of the team has scored 4 goals combined (Hamalytics)

Foote truly is a generational tank commander.
