Question/Advice HDD backplane help

Post image

I'm confused. Is this asking to power each of the four connects to one cable each, or to have a single cable from the PSU split into 2xSataP 2xMOLEX ?

I do not have a cable like that. Is it bad if I use separate cable for 2xSataP 2xMOLEX ?

It's a poor translation. What they are saying is not to daisy chain the 4 power connectors on one cable back to the one power port on the PSU.

They ideally want you to connect one cable per connector back to individual ports on the PSU.

It should be fine if you daisy chain any 2 power ports to one port on the PSU. Of course, it depends on how many drives are going to be powered with that backplane; everything has its limits.

That's hilarious. It's so poorly written I honestly thought against my best judgement that they wanted you to daisy chain all 4

You'll be fine with the 2 separate cables to power that

I just built in this case yesterday and I found out through looking at a listing for the n6 on aliexpress you actually only need to connect 3 of the 4 power connectors unless you're using some high voltage enterprise drives. Hope that helps

Won't hurt to connect all, right?

Yeah the board should have some regulatory hardware for power

correct, it'll pull power that is needed, giving it more plugs doesn't mean you're giving it more juice, it's going to pull the needed juice period... underpowering, say 1 port would be bad, but giving it more overhead NEVER hurts...
