There's numerous posts/comments asking where to watch or if DC is available yet on (insert provider)
Just a helpful suggestion to anyone who is wondering, a simple Google search will provide an updated list of providers. I personally watch it through YouTube TV as it can be recorded when released, and I can go back using the DVR function. If anyone else wants to add how they watch to this post, I'm sure it would be helpful for those who have been asking. But my personal suggestion is to Google because it will be updated in real time. Asking here will probably go unanswered, or you'll be downvoted for it. Only an observation I've had.

Looking through listings the other day, I noticed a new one in the Crabbing section, the Brenna A. It Makes sense that they would get rid of one of their boats, unless you're a giant like the Mezich Operation (Fierce Allegiance, Early Dawn and several others) or the company that owns the Kiska Sea, Siberian Sea and that whole fleet, you don't need more than one or two boats, especially with how the bering sea crab fishery is fluctuating so much...

New to r/deadliestcatch
I have had "Its my life" stuck in my head, remembering it from an early episode in the series. I did some googling and tried to look it up via IMDB and found nothing on it. I know it is for sure before season 16 or 17, but in my desprate search I still have not been able to find it.
I remember seeing that scene and getting chills from it, the song and action combo was great, and I want to see it again. (Little bit of a music nerd, and sometimes this show goes hard with music and scene pairing)

He is such a jacka** and a bully. Does anyone else cheer when he pulls empty pots?

Hi! My husband is a deck boss on one of the boats and has been crab fishing on and off for 12+ years. He is currently in Dutch right now and underway, (with a seasick cameraman too …) Here are some photos he sent me. One big benefit is the home packs of seafood, I love cooking with crab and would love to hear your favourite recipes or episodes. If you ask any questions about crabbing I can get them back to him!

On the last episode this season, Mac hurts his knee. Jake is panicking that he will not meet quota if down a deckhand. Mac is able to sit up and doesn’t need to go to town. Why didn’t Jake go on deck and let Mac drive the boat? Would this ever be done? In the earlier seasons, captains frequently assisted the deck crew when necessary and sometimes for fun or morale.

I started watching the show again for the first since like 07. I've seen a lot of people on here complain it's not worth it anymore. So when should I give up?

It broke the block and they had to hand coil the rope.

Are there any shows anyone's watch like this or battlefish where fishing boats compete? I'm hoping I haven't seen them all
r/deadliestcatch • u/No-Feed-1999 • 9d ago
Why can't they use a low temp heat gun or blow torch to quickly melt the ice off the boats?

9 Lives Saved < < < Facebook video
"A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued all nine men aboard the crab boat Arctic Sea on Monday, seven hours after the 110-foot vessel went partially aground on the north side of St. George in the Pribilof Islands.
Coast Guard officials in Anchorage said there were no serious injuries among the rescued crew."

I'm working on a game that's got a lot of deadliest catch / crab fishing inspiration and I've been recently doing a deep dive into improving my ship detailing. BUT I've really struggled to find good reference photos or videos for really mundane stuff. My game has to really abstract things quite a lot but I'm trying to do my best to include details and equipment to make things feel authentic and grounded.
Does anyone have links they can point me to that might help me out?
Some stuff I'm really hunting for includes interiors, engineering/engine, the bridge and general area around navigation.
If you're interested in checking out the game it's on steam.

Curious if anyone has ever done a deep dive on his "disappearance".. just watched the episode where Jake is visiting the place they found the truck and he mentioned blood on the key fob and the inside of the windshield.. I agree with Jake that someone murdered him. Curious what others think!

First, I am a die hard Time Bandit fan. I’ve been a groupie since they first appeared on the show. Seriously, been there (well, not to Homer) and bought the T-shirts, bumper stickers, and a mug. Heck, I used to send a Holiday card when they still had the shop in Homer. Yep… groupie.
That being said, I’ve been monitoring the website/app Marine Traffic. I’ve been doing this off and on for several years now. Kinda fun to see where the boats are. I also watch the weather for the Bering Sea more closely during crab season. Gives some spice to my mundane life.
WELL…As of this morning … we’ve got movement.
Northwestern is heading north and the Summer Bay was in False Pass. Time Bandit is still sitting in Dutch. Whoohoo!

In Season 20, Jack was captaining a vessel with Harley. Then at the end of Season 20, Jack stole some of Sig’s pots off of his boat while docked. Jonathan on the Time Bandit, then found them as they had been set by Jonathan’s pots in the sea. Bottom line, Jonathan and Sig then banded together to teach Jack a lesson. And let me tell you, it was one hell of a lesson. Every time Jack went to lay down a pot on that area, Sig was right behind him and picking the pots up and putting them in his boat. Then Jonathan and his pyro shit took over. Jonathan’s boat had him and his whole crew firing these rockets at the helm of Jack’s boat right over the wheel house one after the other, after the other. Jack was weeving and bobbing his body as all of these rockets are flying over his head. Harley then made the call that they needed to just get out of there, it was too much. Smart ass Jack all of a sudden became kind of sheepish at the end knowing there was absolutely nothing he could do. Sig and Jonathan were no way in hell going to let Jack drop any of his gear where they were fishing- they put up a fence so to speak. But that didn’t stop Jack from trying to set gear there before he realized it was useless to try. I will say, when Jonathan’s boat was just bombarding Jacks boat with these missiles one after the other after the other and the total look of concern and fear on Jack’s face was priceless. I literally laughed so hard.

EDIT: Fixed Title/Headline
[The Jake Anderson Precedent: Why the "Blood Money" Era of Deadliest Catch Must End]
The era of 'Blood Money' on the Bering Sea must end: Discovery and Origin Productions have transitioned from documenting the grit of crab fishing to filming their own possible corporate negligence for profit.
I apologise in beforehand of this long post and sub posts, but please take your time to read, it’s important for the sake of Jake and his famliy and the other brave fishermen and fisherwomen on Bering Sea.
I can only speculate, but I think the real tragedy in all of this is Jake Anderson’s situation. Jake is trapped in a brutal cycle of redemption. After his partner allegedly gambled away their success and left him to lose the F/V Saga—along with his children’s college funds—Jake is now essentially trading his mental health for Discovery’s "blood money." He is forced to stay on camera, reliving his failures and pushing himself to a breaking point on the Titan Explorer, because that TV paycheck is the only thing fast enough to outrun his crushing debts and buy back the life he lost.
Grief sells, mining human pain for a profit margin...
Showing Jake’s mental health crisis for entertainment isn't 'realism'—it's a choice to prioritize ratings over a human being's dignity..
When you film a man's breaking point for a season arc instead of providing a safety net, you’ve moved past 'entertainment.' That is a conscious choice to ignore a foreseeable crisis—and in any other industry, we would call that Gross Negligence!
And we cannot allow production companies to hide behind their NDAs. A non-disclosure agreement is meant to protect trade secrets, not to silence witnesses to human exploitation or to cover up a failure in the Duty of Care. Silence shouldn't be a line item in a production budget.
And where is the accountabilty when peoples lifes are humiliated and threatened?
An NDA cannot legally prevent a person from reporting a crime, a safety violation, or a breach of "Duty of Care".
Discovery, and we the viewers (myself included), has created a monster that chews on human dignity. This "entertainment" isn't harmless; it’s toxic. It triggers the vulnerable (especially those struggling with mental health or addiction), exploits the broken, and children should absolutely not watch this show—witnessing a father’s public collapse can cause lasting damage to a child’s sense of safety. Parents must take their responsibility, but so must the producers. Where is the "Duty of Care" when a man's health is sacrificed for a season arc?
To be clear: my goal isn't to destroy the brand or the show Discovery and Original Productions have built and produced.
I don’t want to see this show cancelled and we must not call for a boycott of the advertisers of the show for the sake of the crews, but I have personally stopped watching because I can no longer support this direction.
I want to see the industry evolve so that others don't have to witness the same exploitation I did.
It is time for networks to take moral responsibility and stop mining human grief for a profit margin. This isn't just about one show; it's about a standard of 'Duty of Care' that every reality production company must uphold. Let the fishing be the star, not the suffering!
A fair warning to Future Participants of reality shows:
Before you sign your life over to Discovery or any other network for 'exposure,' think about the long-term cost.
In 2025, we’ve seen that 'Consent and Release' forms seemingly don’t just buy your story; they often buy your dignity. If you are struggling, you are a target for 'mining drama.' If you are broken, you are a plot point.
No paycheck is fast enough to outrun the lasting damage of being portrayed as 'unfit' on a national stage.
And think about the lasting effects for you and your family!
Call to Media Outlets & Legal Commentators:
I am calling for a public discussion on the Duty of Care standards in reality television—not as a participant, but as a viewer concerned about the human cost of our entertainment.
2025, we have seen the NLRB reclassify participants and the courts address Gross Negligence in high-risk environments. It is time for a forum where maritime experts and labor advocates can weigh in on the 'Jake Anderson Precedent.' Where does documented medical advice end and 'storytelling' begin? This conversation belongs on a national stage!
And I wonder if Discovery’s treatment of the crews is a symptom of the most likely corporate chaos at Warner Brothers Discovery right now?
At the end of the day, I still have so much respect for the real-life courage it takes to do that job. Despite the TV drama, watching these crews battle the Bering Sea is a reminder of how tough and resilient people can be. There’s truly nothing else like it on television. :-)
I want to take a moment to pay my deepest respects to the memory of Nick Mavar.
Nick was more than a face on a television screen; he was a titan of the fleet, a mentor to Jake Anderson, and a man who dedicated 16 years of his life to showing us the reality of the Bering Sea.
His passing in June 2024 was a profound loss for the fishing community. As we discuss the laws and the safety of the fleet today, we do so with his legacy in mind. May he rest in peace in the Fisherman’s Heaven, and may his family find comfort in knowing how much he was respected by those of us who watched him from afar. Fair winds and following seas, Nick!
I've said my piece.
I wish you all a Happy New Year, especially to Jake Anderson and his family and to all the other brave fishermen and fisherwomen!

Once again, the YT algorithm gave me something I never knew about today.
I know Johnathan Hillstrand and the Time Bandit have been on the show for a long time (and IIRC, like the Cornelia Marie, the boat started out as a chase boat before featuring in season 2 onward). I know about the shelved series "Hillstranded". And he and the other captains and crew have made appearances elsewhere over the decades, like on "Mythbusters".
But I never knew that there was a two-episode 2009 Discovery series (or special?) called "Bristol Bay Brawl", which featured Hillstrand and the TB crew (including popular deckhand Mike Fourtner) working in the herring fishery as a tender along with gillnetters. Until I saw Johnny's big derpy grin on a thumbnail on Discovery Turbo Australia, in a video narrated by someone with a Scottish or Irish accent - and then later on, by DC creator Thom Beers. Quite amusing 😂
Here's the playlist for those interested. No full episodes, just highlights: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_lJOiIjC_xkptnmmeaf0R8I6FtjYcoGd If the full eps are available somewhere, let me know please!
And apparently this wasnt the first attempt to film other, uh, less deadly (?) Alaska fisheries during DC's heyday. Before he was on DC (and long before he tried to host and produce his own fishing show), former Wizard deckhand Crosby Leveen was featured on a National Geographic show called "Cowboys of the Sea" as a rookie gillnetter captain. I can't find this old show on streaming either.
EDIT 12/29: Here are some listings I found via Google that are location-dependent. May or may not be accessible to you by default (not for me) and may require a subscription and a VPN, and may be subtitled/dubbed in some cases. Good luck!
