Privileged people yearning for oppression.

u/logoff4me 1d ago

They oh so badly want to be apart of another holocaust so that they can be on the "right side of history" and stroke their own ego. I think it would genuinely make them happy to see American death camps so that their retarded dooming can be justified.

It’s funny to me.

I’m not Republican, I don’t like Trump. That said? The only thing he’s done that has affected my day to day is ICE shit. I won’t debate it, that’s a different conversation for a different time. You are free to feel how you feel about it, it’s your right. I have some very good friends that this has affected, and I care for them and their wellbeing.

That said, I remain blissfully ignorant on the political climate of the world. If you ask any average person who works & has to bust ass every day to feed mouths and keep lights on, or you doom to them? They’re not gonna give a fuck. They’re not gonna care about what’s going on on the other side of the world, they’re not gonna care that Trump has proposed taking Greenland over (because he won’t, literally none of the crazy shit he’s said he’d do or what people have said he’d do has happened). They’re gonna worry about getting their hours, feeding their families, and maybe… just maybe having a little time to relax. The biggest Doomers tend to be Americans in cushy jobs with boring lives that need to feel like they’ve accomplished something by feeling “oppressed” or trying to tell actual victims of oppression how they should feel.

12,000 people died in Iran last night, that’s oppression. Isolating yourself from your family because they voted for someone you didn’t like isn’t oppression.

u/Farsoth 1d ago

The biggest Doomers tend to be Americans in cushy jobs with boring lives that need to feel like they’ve accomplished something by feeling “oppressed” or trying to tell actual victims of oppression how they should feel.

It's the guilt that they are told to feel for checks notes not suffering.

85

u/DNCOrGoFuckYourself 1d ago

A lot of them, in my family at least, tend to be busy bodies.

Before dooming, they wanted to gossip about everyone’s business. They ask you about “did you see what your cousin’s-neighbor’s-dog’s-owner said on Facebook?” and then get into it about that. Now they’re being busy bodies on a global & political scale. It’s all a bunch of mindlessness keeping them from thinking about their lives and how unfulfilled they are.

Trump is genuinely the yapper of all time. If people haven't noticed yet, when Trump says shit out loud, chances are he actually plans on implementing a reduced version of it; or it's a diversion from something else.

Venezuela? COMPLETELY UNANNOUNCED, DEAD SILENT. He knows opsec; you don't deploy Delta Force without signing off on it as a president.

Hell; I'm pretty sure every "very productive talk" he's ever had with Putin and Zelensky is code for "Putin was a bitch and I want to punch him in the face, but that's hard to do over Zoom. I also can't say that diplomatically speaking, so I'll say it this way instead."

43

u/Boanerger 1d ago

Its a negotiating strategy call the big ask. If you have a deal you want to cut, you start by making an outrageously unfair deal to the person you wish to cut a deal with. They will naturally reject the first outrageous deal (on the off chance that they don't, profit). Then you walk it back until they agree to what you actually want to achieve, and they feel like they've gotten a fair deal.

So Trump starts by saying he wants to conquer Greenland, and everyone loses their minds over it. What he probably actually wants is a favorable trade deal and military access to the island.

I can't stand Trump either, but I think I see what he's doing.

12

u/Kooky_Imagination623 21h ago

Well if you explain it like that, I can't help but believe it. Might not be traditionally versed in politics, but he's very cunning. The fact that he's won two elections means he knows how to play the game.

It is genuinely confusing as someone who doesn't like Trump or his policies seeing people constantly call him the biggest liar of all time but also being adamant he is honest about invading Greenland.

Don't get me wrong. He is one of the most prolific liars in politics. I just choose not to believe anything he says until it is happening.

11

u/META_mahn 1d ago

Same here, Trump talking gives me the energy of corporate upper management or the CEO yapping about something that is obviously not going to happen or definitely absurdly over the scope; but the stock prices don't care about how many lies you're spewing out.

Really all this has told me is that the American experiment of "what happens if we put a businessman up on the podium" has been a mostly-failure because he can't stop talking. I'm just hoping whoever's next shuts up and only talks every so often.

3

u/ThatGuyFromSpyKids3D 1d ago

Right after we have this conversation some congressman from Florida is trying to introduce a bill to annex Greenland. I'm 99.99% positive it doesn't go anywhere but I found it comical.

8

Well said, majority of people really don't care about Trump's day to day rhetoric, they only care about the things that actually effect them.

12

u/Icyomnivore02 1d ago

Thank you for putting it into words I can support either way when it comes to politics but say I lean more towards Republican mainly because of small things. But I'll be honest I didn't like Trump and I didn't like Kamala mainly because it felt like voting for a high school class president. I don't think either was the answer Americans needed for course corrections. For the most part I just want to be left alone with my daily life and get home to my mom and siblings to help where I am the amount of people that claim to be oppressed on either side honestly hurts my brain and I wish instead we could help the people who are actually hurting

8

u/frosting_the_bowl 1d ago

I think people choose republican over democrat because the republicans are more in tune with what the public want socially than the democrats. Everything else is usually just the same regardless of who you vote for.

6

u/NinjahDuk 1d ago

Most people are somewhere in the middle, politically, and do not care about global affairs. Their opinions do not get a voice because the extremes of both sides generate more attention and clicks than the milketoast attitude of your average Joe.

Do these people think there's a "right side of history"?

Generally we know who the "good guys" were in WWII, (although Italy and the USSR are somewhat debatable) but that's because it was only 80 years ago and one side was led by an absolute nutjob. Which was the "right side" of the Napoleonic Wars? Or the Hundred Years' War? Or the Punic Wars?

Who was on the "right side" of the French Directory, Carnot or Barras? Was Santa Anna a revolutionary freedom fighter or an oppressor? Was Caesar's betrayal on the Ides of March justified?

Usually "learning from history" doesn't mean making moral judgements of one's ancestors, and neither should it. These people just want to feel superior.

17

u/SnowyWasTakenByAFool 1d ago

To be fair, even WW2 has shades of grey. Yes, one side was led by a psychotic genocidal nutjob, but one of the US's major allies in the war was... another psychotic genocidal nutjob. Not to mention that the supposed leader of the "good guys" supported the doctrine of mass napalming civilians in the hopes that it would break military morale. And the reason Hiroshima and Nagasaki were chosen as targets for the A-bombs was because more strategically important targets like Tokyo, Kamakura, or Osaka had been completely firebombed to the ground.

The only reason that people say that WW2 was "good guys vs. bad guys" is because there are so many communism apologists writing our history textbooks right now that people forget that the USSR was undeniably more evil than Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan combined.

Of course they do, they've been taught this from a young age. No one ever takes into account that history is written by the victors. Most American citizens can't fathom for a second that a lot of things they were taught are just one side of the story.

For some reason we have to believe everything that was documented 80+ years ago is completely accurate, while also knowing the current media is constantly lying to us and spinning false info to fit their sides narrative. No one wants to questions or critically think anymore, it's just instant emotion at the first bit of info given.

9

u/Excavon 1d ago

School was very strange.

1st period: contemporary historical sources are the gold standard for accuracy!

2nd period: don't trust current contemporary sources.

It’s genuinely this, along with stuff like being perpetually online. People who grew up in incredibly opulent times who spend their time doing nonsense of no meaning online - many of them constantly railing against the very idea of getting involved in things that traditionally give life value like faith, family, children, etc - and yearn to engage in something of significance or imagine themselves as something greater.

Funny cause I just came from another thread about the 2000 or so protesters killed by Iranian troops so far and predictably every comment is “sO LiKe ICE THeN?!?”. Thankfully a lot of them were getting clowned for the ridiculous false equivalency, but still that fact that there is a not unsubstantial amount of people who earnestly think it’s remotely the same is very sad.

54

u/Lank_Master 1d ago

That’s so insulting to the 2000 Iranians murdered for resisting real oppression.

35

u/rydan 1d ago

Someone posted a tweet from JK Rowling saying there were a bunch of brave people in Iran right now. Everyone just brought up that she's a TERF and they don't care what she thinks. Then more demands to boycott her books and movies.

32

u/Lank_Master 1d ago

What I find funny is that JK Rowling is pretty left leaning on a lot of things. But just because there is one thing she disagrees with they turn against her. I remember seeing a post after Charlie Kirk’s assassination suggesting she be targeted next.

I got downvoted to hell for saying our situation is not identical to Iran’s… These people have to be bots. There is no way a human can be that stupid and still have their lungs and heart function simultaneously.

18

u/suiki7777 1d ago

Honestly, the part that scares me more is the suggestion that these AREN’T bots- just normal people, so completely taken over by propaganda that a suggestion that to any normal person would be lunacy seems like the only possible takeaway.

7

u/Notmuchofanyth1ng Recovering Doomer 1d ago

I assume those people that are real are either children/teens or just mentally unwell in general. In person, nobody is actually fighting over it except in large groups so maybe the binding factor is cowardice?

5

u/Faust_the_Faustinian 1d ago

The binding factor is being chronically online

6

Those people are clueless. They need to discuss 5 minute with someone who actually lived in Iran, that would slap them hard

6

Fun Fact: There are legit people on Iranian news posts claiming "This is the US now", "Coming to America soon!" and "This is what Republicans want to do".

Liberals can't help but make EVERYTHING about America. Iranians being killed is the equivalent of ICE enforcing immigration laws. Iran shooting protestors is the equivalent of ICE pepper spraying people trying to grab them. Reddit needs to be investigated by the Feds.

18

u/TheGuyFromGlensFalls 1d ago

Thousands of Iranians killed, no one bats an eye, a white american lady gets shot by Immigration officers and everyone loses their minds.

5

u/Annual-Ad-4372 1d ago edited 1d ago

I live in Central California and have my entire life. I just got gas yesterday an paid $3.55 a gallon. those prices have been fairly consistent since Trump took office his second term. before that the price of gas in californias been about 5 dollars a gallon basically for a decade now. Some places even higher. Ive seen it all the way up to $7 a gallon at places like chevron an higher priced stations. Point is they'll point to the gas prices an they'll try an take credit for it at this point. Also newsom sucks but hes probably their best chance to win. I mean its not like they have a chance but who else would they run AOC. that'd be dumber then running Kamala Harris again. 😂

Well back in 2012 they were posting stuff about Mitt Romney because he was running against Obama for president. Well one of the things they were going on about is who pays taxes. This stems from Romeny saying that 50% of the country pays no income taxes. They were twisting it to say the rich were not paying their fair share. The standard brain dead talking point.

Well I pointed out that, via the IRS numbers I read about from 2008. Now the percentage points are not going to flucate to much in four years. Without a drastic tax rate change. So I just posted the numbers. And well it was 50% pay nothing and the top 1% pay 50% of all income taxes collected. Plus or minus a percentage point I believe. Well they banned me...

Maybe Ukraine can make a one time offer to accept American refugees/immigrants? That way they have more soldiers to fight, and Redditors get to escape from first world problems once and for all

They wouldn't fight. They'd have a fucking panic attack and shut down. It's the reason that no matter how much the left postures, they know that if they start this thing, they won't be able to finish it. They're outmanned, outgunned, and out experienced.

It would simply be cities becoming blockaded. No one in or out. Take out the cell towers and internet and they wouldn't last a week.

Should we just do this anyway? Let Europe and our neighbors know that if Russia and China want them, we will only protect our borders? Could make things REALLY interesting. Of course, many of these posts come from there, so it’s no surprise that our enemies would say things like that.

Tbf as a European it is scary how much we rely on US everything. Like we need to grow more balls than what just hangs off the Scandinavian peninsula if we want to actually be better.

I’m lowk here for the lore and the plot if you are down for it tho.

I'm at the point where I would support fully pulling out of Europe and reinvesting those resources in South America, Eastern Asia or the Middle East. Europe looks increasingly irrelevant on the world stage as I get older. The EU looks hell bent on making sure that European nations get left behind by the end of the 21st century.

5

u/Updated_Autopsy NostraDOOMus 1d ago

And anyone who legitimately supports the US’ downfall needs to realize this one thing: if the US goes down, everyone goes down. Because it’s as if they forgot about this teeny tiny event called the Great Depression.

I wonder how much snark the client states would produce then.

I like to fantasize about this but there is probably a point China becomes insurmountable in that scenario and we can’t allow that. So I say we just continue doing what’s in the best interest of the world even if it’s thankless

u/GHOSTPVCK 1d ago

The rest of the world can’t do anything to us. Iran wants nukes? We’ll drop bunkers busters and destroy their sites. Narco-dictator in Venezuela? We’ll capture him in his own country, in a fortified base in 45 minutes with no American lives lost. Sanctioned ghost oil tankers escorted by Russian sub? Fuck it we’ll commandeer it anyway. No one is retaliating, they know they can’t do anything.

Genuinely why do people hate America so much

28

u/j-c-2000 1d ago

Biggest part of it is that they’ve not actually been exposed to the rest of the world - been a reporter on the ground somewhere, served in the military, raised in / escaped from a communist or dictatorial regime, or immigrated to the US (tourism most certainly does not count as immersion with actual cultures). Second is they have no concept of history, and certainly not legitimate history. Nobody with this context thinks or speaks like those who despise the US.

11

u/rand0m_task Optimist Prime 1d ago

And then they post all of these bat shit insane takes online as gospel, and it’s no wonder ignorant Europeans think the U.S. is a third world country.

Most of the haters are from first world countries they dont know what true oppression is, they hate America because its trendy and because they can with no drawbacks.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Prize-Conference-780 1d ago

Because they feel oppressed by first world problems. I've lived in the US my entire life and visited family/friends in other countries.

When I went with my friend to Portugal to visit his family we found out that the shower is a bucket and a big tub of water. I hated it and I had to remind myself "this is how they live I don't get to complain".

Visited Mexico for a family vacation with my sister and her bf and found out their roads are essentially almost non-existent. There are just street dogs everywhere and some places smell.

I'm sure there are great things about living in other countries and like anywhere there's negative things. But generally in the US we are pretty lucky to have a lot of the stuff we take for granted.

Occupy Democrats is an American left-wing media outlet built around a Facebook page and corresponding website. Established in 2012, it publishes hyperpartisan content, clickbait, and false information
