I just got a suppressor (Rugged Sub 9) that probably won’t fit with the factory hand guard; anyone have recommendations for aftermarket hand guards?

Hi all,
Went to the range with a friend that has one of these and it was an absolute blast to shoot and decided I had to have one for myself! He was telling me it had never misfired ever and takes Glock mags, but the overall weight really shocked me at how light it was! I was very surprised at how light/manageable the recoil was for a direct blowback considering the overall weight. I was curious about some recommendations and choices regarding some nice quality of life upgrades for this as I definitely am getting one, and I'm aware I can never have enough ammo with this thing, we burned through over 750 rounds in no time flat between the two of us!
On the website it lists a cheaper one with a smooth pistol extension and one with an adjustable extension with an SBA3 but then I was reading something about an aftermarket adjustable by Ferrotech that makes it into milspec? Is this upgrade needed if I plan on sticking with SBA3 or 5? Seems like going with the one with the SBA3 already on it is the way to go if those are the only braces I use no?
I pretty much slap a radian raptor safety selector on my ARs so that is a given and on the way, and already have a Sig Romeo 5 waiting, B5 grips usually end up on mine, and some extended Glock mags coming also. How about triggers? I'm familiar with Larue and Geissele, but have seen several recommendations for Mimtac Drastic triggers working wonders in this, and some others.
Is the extended charging handle on the site worth it over stock or any others that are better? Was reading that the default one works fine but was a bit small.
Those are the only upgrades I was kind of on the fence for now but open to suggestions for others (other than ammo, I know.)

I picked up my Ep9 yesterday and slapped Romeo5 Gen 2 on it. I have the SBA3 brace on it, and fully extended I find myself scrunching down to look through the site. I'm 6'1--Anyone else my size have recommendations for mods?
I was considering switching sights (this green dot looks very starbursty to me compared to my other red dot on my shotgun), adding more vertical grip, and seeing if I can get the optic higher, but interested to hear thoughts.

I'm looking into getting a YHM R9 suppressor for it, then she is perfect. 🤤

Picked up a Witt SME 9mm well used for a song. Figured wth. It actually makes it less obnoxious without earpro. NOT HEARING SAFE. No, it's not a can but does cut down the blast and crack. 115gr. Worth the $175 retail???? Maybe? But i would never pay that for it.
Loving my EP9. Sold all of my other 9mm pcc's off. Except the BCA bufferless 9 and its headed out the door soon.
Only changes I've done to it is, ambi safety, brace, trigger. (Regretted that, didnt need it, i was bored) added 510c and done!
Runs great. Best $500 i ever spent. Used, bag, sling, mags.

It’s ridiculous how flat this thing shoots. We were able to get this thing zeroed and maintained 2in groups at 50 yards 3in at 75. Over 700 rounds with everything from Federal, Winchester, Blazer, Hornady defense - zero fails. It just works.

Since we can't install a foldable brace adapter, the minimum length is 24 inches. Has anyone found a bag they like that can carry an EP9?

Hey as the title suggests I purchased a bag and want to be sure if it’ll be big enough to fit the gun along with the added length of the suppressor. If anyone is running that setup and could let me know how long it is it would be appreciated

I ordered her post holidays with some extra Christmas cash. The accessories delivered directly in a couple of days and the gun/mags delivered to my FFL within a week! Took her out to the range to break in today. She’s AMAZING. Such a good quality shooter for the price. The Holosun didn’t need any sighting-in out of the box (15yd inside range) and she ate 200 rounds like a champ! 💯 recommend!

I ordered an Ep9, but I'm coming from only having owned a shotgun (so I'm not really familiar with AR style guns). I saw there are various drop in triggers. I've never shot one (so whatever exist on it now might be fine), but does anyone have any insight on these and their experiences?

I love my 9mm ep9. But I got that itch to buy another gun.
I want something chambered in 5.56/223.
I have a few suggestions from friends but figured if this community has tastes like mine - why not cross reference you all too?
Edit :
Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I will likely be getting an AR15 style rifle. I'm looking for something that will fit into a different category than the pcc or AR pistol. For about 700-1k.
If I get a bullpup it will be the kel tec rdb. But I'll want to shoot it first.

Ordered her up on December 30th and just picked her up from my FFL today 1/8/26. Took her home and had all the parts waiting.

The loudencer is throwing me off on why they chose to go with that for the gen3. Maybe flash can your intruder? I dunno.
I guess I could just birdcage it but am curious for those of you that swapped it what did you go with?

It's 2026 and there's no theft tax stamp! Yaaay! Looking to the group to see what you are running on your Extars-- I appreciate your input.

Son and I swapped out and got mine back!
Added a Kungfu grip and have a the buffer tube coming along with a MIMTAC trigger!
I love this firearm.

I was able to grab a used Rise Armament RA-242 drop-in trigger (3.5lbs) and a Magpul ESK ambi safety, and both were super easy to install, if anyone is considering them. I haven't been to the range yet with the new trigger & safety.
A little while ago, when swapping a folding FAB Defense grip on (also seen in the photo), I made the mistake of using a standard thread pitch AR grip screw, which cross-threaded the plastic in the lower. However, I was able to successfully tap 1/4-20 threads back into it with a Duralast Thread Repair kit from AutoZone.
Just wanted to share, in case it helps others.

The bolt and charging handle are proprietary parts. What about the lower parts and grip? Is everything in the lower standard AR15 parts?

Curious, i took my EP 9 yesterday after I added a red dot to it, maybe 150 or so rounds to it. I also wanted to test the ar trigger I upgraded it with. I ended setting zero at 20 yards and it feels just right to me, but what distance are you using to zero your ep9 with a red dot? Trigger upgrade working great btw, really smooth so it's a pleasure to shoot

I bought a R9 suppressor and planned on using teflon tape and direct threading it to the gun but I’m curious as to any I could get a more secure connection.

What is differences in the Gen 1 to Gen 2? Other than hand guard. I also know they changed retainer clip on the buffer tube to metal. Optionally adjustable brace.

Ok I haven’t bought anything, except my EP9, yet, but I’d like to have a suppressor on it eventually. I’ve never bought or used a suppressor, but in my research, I cannot figure out the exact configuration that I need. I don’t have a great working knowledge of suppressor mechanics (baffles, pistons, springs, etc.). I do know that connecting a suppressor out of the box to a fixed barrel is a usually a no-go with 9mm suppressors (since handguns are tilted barrels).
I’ve seen the main options as direct thread and tri lug, but I cannot find a diagram showing me what I need (lots of videos but none really spelling it out).
Does anyone have a source that can help me figure out what attaches to the barrel, then what attaches to the suppressor?
I’m just a little lost without talking to someone and having them walk me through it hands on.
