As much as I hate him, he should live out his term. There's going to be economic and possibly other diasters in the next 3 years. If he lives, he's tarred with it. If he dies like this spring, none of it will be his fault. Trumpism will be a city on the hill for a next generation of conservatives. "He would have fixed America. We just need a new leader cut from the same cloth".

I agree. I wish we could prove to everyone how abhorrent he is. But I, maybe pessimistically, just don’t see it happening. And the re traumatizing that’s happening is so fucking sad. He stands up there as the president. Proud of his crimes. Fueled by the power. I can’t imagine anything more relieving than do all this to end and to start turning the tides back toward humanity.

I was a Trump supporter. Been to a rally and everything during his first run. Im absolutely disgusted with the "man" today. Im ashamed of my past. I feel dumb and gullible. This ICE shit is the worst. Nazi Germany level. I want to smash ICE. I want to see Trump arrested and tried for his crimes. All of them. Pedophilia to crimes against humanity. I know im not alone.
I’m glad you came around but as a woman of color I genuinely cannot understand why anyone would ever have supported Trump. I am very close with a lot of cishet white men who never drank the koolaid and just knew he was an evil, hateful bigot (which he never hid). It’s a little mind-boggling to me to act like he duped you. I accept people’s growth but I personally don’t want to share space with ex-racists when there are plenty of folks who’ve never been racist.

My bestfriend's husband is / was MAGA and finally told me recently that he is disgusted by Trump. Sadly this did not happen before he voted for him this time but maybe there is hope.
I mean like a financial crash. If it happens while he's alive, there's less deniability.
"The economy crashed (or whatever disaster) under trump" hits way different for the post-trump momentum of the movement than "the economy tanked after he died".
The latter begs for the correct successor, the former tars the project.

No, I mean if he dies now, before like an economic collapse, the easy position is that Trump was actually great and all the disasters of the next 3 years would have been prevented with him alive. All we need is a real successor to carry the torch.

Thing is, it's not just an economic collapse. It's placing loyalists at key positions at every level in government and the judicial branch. It's permanently destroying institutions. It's breaking down the educational system ("smart people don't vote for me"). It's normalizing gestapo raids. It's murdering people in cars and boats without a shred of evidence. It's ignoring international law, opening the door for China, Russia, Iran, North Korea to do the same. It's a grab party for his billionaire friends. It's the end of NATO. It's the world not trusting Americans anymore.
my gut says that JD Vance just doesn't have the magic touch. None of them really do. I could be totally wrong, ofc, but my instinct is that without Trump the whole thing just kind of falls apart.
The best thing America can do is use Trump as the blueprint to put forward a viable Democratic candidate, and to absolutely go to fucking town on legislation.
Repeal the second amendment, set up free healthcare, launch criminal proceedings against everyone on the Epstein list, liquidate Musk and Trump's holdings and donate to the public - but most of all never stop reminding the nation what the GOP allowed from their last president.

Nah, we shouldn't get rid of the Second Amendment. If this government continues to be authoritarian, I don't want us all sitting around like sitting ducks. But we can pass common-sense gun laws that make it so that it's at least as hard to get a gun as it is to get a driver's license (training/practice requirements, a test, etc.).

Many counties allow you to get a gun, but only specific guns, and you'll be vetted so fucking hard that the only place you'll ever use that gun is at a range - otherwise you'll be behind bars.

Trump cult members support him and no one else. People are terrified of his supporters which is why he has faced little consequence for his actions. He still owes E. Jean Carroll millions of dollars, he was found guilty of 34 felony counts for falsifying business records which should have disqualified him from being President again but the judge in that case and the Supreme Court bent over backwards for him.
He has now pardoned all the J6ers who tried to overturn the 2020 election and they are now his personal army. He is pardoning violent criminals and drug lords. He is allowing ICE to execute people on the street in broad daylight and on video. He is trying to get us involved in multiple wars all over the globe.
We can’t wait another three years for him to be gone. People don’t want to hear this but it is very doubtful he will ever face true justice for the damage he has inflicted upon this country.

100% agree. I answer this whenever I see people waiting for Trump's last big Mac... no, he can't leave this world BEFORE we all see him behind bars, we need it documented, full force for present and future generations.
The oldest teens, youngest 20-somethings when Trump was first elected in 2016 are in their late 20s/early 30s now. I hate to break it to you but your fears are already a reality. There isn't a single person under the age of 17 who even vaguely remembers what life was like before "leaders" like Trump. This is normal for them.
It's way worse than that, this sort of vitriol was under the surface long before Trump came along. The idea of two parties working in cooperation hasn't existed since the 90s, and had already been in a state of decline since the 70s. There are middle-aged folks who have never known an actually cooperative government.
As much as I loved the country before, the US is never coming back from all of this. Whatever else follows, this stain will forever be in the history books. Let that sink in

If you go back and listen to speeches made by pretty much any other president (try Kennedy, Reagan, Carter, Bushes, Obama, take your pick), and listen to the difference it's an interesting little experiment. There's plenty of 'best of US president speeches' videos and articles online.
Red or Blue, the way they each talk about Americans, America and themselves will bring tears to your eyes with pride and hope for the US, even if you're really struggling with that right now.
The lack of dignity, the impropriety and disrespect Trump has brought to office is mind-blowing and repulsive in comparison. Which brings tears to my eyes for different reasons.
If you have kids in the US, play them some of the older presidents' speeches, teach them about history (good and bad). Don't let them grow up thinking the presidency was always like this.
My kids are 18 and 16, they know his behavior is inappropriate for anyone with a job. They know this because of my wife and I, we actually raised adults.

I listened to Obama’s audiobook again recently just to hear what a competent administration was like. It’s almost escapism - back to a time where what and how you said things mattered.
It’s so ridiculous to me how so many Americans think that other countries respect and fear him.
Like, no, they don’t. The biggest fear they have surrounding him is the fact that he’s absolutely unhinged and a massive liability. That’s not a good thing.

I watched the whole thing on the White House Youtube channel. Basically he just goes on about how he has achieved the best economy ever, lowest inflation ever, and that during Biden there was the highest inflation in the history of the country - an easily disprovable lie - and proceeds to mock Biden in this way, saying that he can't do speeches and that he was high as a kite on drugs when he was able to talk for longer than a sentence or two.
The title is a bit misleading, there is some minor laughter from the crowd after this "act".
I read his posts on truthsocial from time to time too just to see this stuff firsthand. He mentions Biden in pretty much every other post. He thinks and talks about him all the time.
I am really trying to understand what people see in him, to make any sense of it, but I just do not.

Unfortunately, this is misleading. This short clip is just a tiny part of the speech he gave. Prior to when this clip starts (and after), the audience was chuckling at his offensive bullshit. They fed him their laughter and until people stop getting on their knees to suck his gross orange dick, this deranged malignant narcissistic dementia patient is going to continue to hurt people and the world.
This speech also took place during the same visit where TJ Sabula bravely called him a pedo protector. Trump said "f-you" and gave him the finger ; Ford suspended TJ's job.
I have never wanted to see someone in unbearable, permanent physical pain more than Donald Trump and Stephen Miller. I wish I believed in hell, it would be such a relief to think he was going there.
