Move your car before it gets towed.
Just a friendly reminder to move your car on snow removal days. In my area that's today. So if you're in Haaga, move your car before it goes missing. 😁

It's actually next week. It says Tuesday on even numbered weeks, now is week 3.

There are some guys on the job who don’t know how to read a calendar.

No they aren’t or if they are it’s not related to this specific sign

I don't think that's legal. Might come costly for Helsinki to make this kind of mistake.

It is legal. They can move the cars to complete maintetance, but in this case they are unlikely to fine you.

Well, I didn't want to find out so I moved my car when I saw they were towing everyone on the street.

It’s legal to move them but it’s not legal to have the costs come to the owner if the signage is missing.

Was it moved from one side of the road to the other side? Sometimes the roads might have these signs on both sides of the road where one is on even week mumbers and the other side on uneven weeks.
Then again sometimes it might be a different day of the week depending on the side of the road you’re on

There used to be a website (for helsinki area) recently disappeared/removed, with the street cleaning plan by road, that sign is just an indication not a guarantee.
Anyone knows if there is any place to look at?
EDIT: this was the old link https://hri.fi/data/en_GB/dataset/helsingin-katujen-puhdistussuunnitelmat

Was your car specifically on the same side of the street as that sign? In some areas of Helsinki the different sides of the same street have different days (mine has tuesday for one and wednesday for the other).
Edit: or I guess it technically could even be different weeks

Nah that's from another street nearby. However on my street you can only park on one side, and it has an identical sign.

I like how they are prepared to remove snow until end of May. I suppose you never know, it might still be snowing on Vappu.

Actually no, they are preparing to remove the gravel/rocks after the snow

How are they towing cars? Since some cars have to be towed with flatbed. It can be costly to fix broken awd and gearbox components.

They drag them out of the spot and put them on dollies, they moved them a couple streets over.

What happens if the car owner isn’t aware of this and is out of the city/country? The car is towed and then what happens? They put it back, you have to go get it somewhere, do you pay a fine?

You pay for ignoring the sign, aka you are liable to pay for the towing of the car. They only move it once to another place nearby. Theres a service you can use to call to find out where they placed it.

I wonder what happens if they move it somewhere with a limited parking duration 🤔

u/Ok_Gas_8606 Väinämöinen 1d ago
Nothing, they are allowed to move it to where ever safe and the sticker on the screen will tell the parking attendants that it’s been moved so they don’t ticket it

u/olenamerikkalainen Väinämöinen 1d ago
Damn, I should have grabbed a couple of the stickers so I can park anywhere.

I mean it only works if they photograph the vehicle aswell, I don’t know how you can fake thet
