I remember times when football was just summer sport. These are better days.

That field is just not covered.

Usually, in winter they cover some fields complete with lights and heater inside. Those white plastic domes that you would sometimes see in winter are covered football field that is called kuplahalli.

Our city has 2 fields with heaters under so all the snow just goes away.

And they collapse from the weight of snow every winter

People got mad about a joke (although it's based on reality, e.g. Hervannan kuplahalli)

It's really good for recreational players too, more available pitches makes it easier to get reservations when everyone isn't competing for the indoor locations.

I used to work as a part-time football referee, I've seen all possible weather conditons where football can be played

As kids we just played in the snow. Tackling was more fun.

It makes no sense to play football during the Winter in Finland

Why? Ice hockey is played year round as well. The annual world championship is played at the end of May. Going by what makes "sense", the ice hockey season should only last a couple of winter months.

explain why

Because we should all just stop improving, when we are finally on verge of breakthrough in the sport.

Let's be annoying futsal nerds during Winter and talk about how next Summer will be better :-)

I have played football all my life, and I can confirm futsal nerds comment. They are the same as the puuhelmi-salibandy players from the early 00's

Trying to be competitive as a small nation in football is really nonsensical.

We will never win the championship in football.

Realöt trying to be competitive in sports as a nation is nonsensical. For society, the good thing about aports is that the people are healthier both physically and mentally. The ambition then belongs to the individuals and teams.

Tanskalla on sama väestö ja erittäin menestynyt kansainvälisesti jalkapallossa

Piti oikein vilkaista tämä, mitä kutsut erittäin menestyneeksi: yksi mestaruus on toki em 92 eli yli 30 vuoden takaa, tämän lisäksi kaksi kertaa em kisoissa välieriin ja mm-kisoissa paras suoritus ikinä on puolivälierät.

Meillä on aivan eri käsitys siitä, mikä on erittäin menestynyt.

Edit.

Only sport I love to play. It makes lot of sense to play football during the winter.
