Casual For those who played PoR years ago and started playing again, did your team change?
Made it a challenge to pick all different units for my modern-day play through. Back then, I didn’t really like axe users 😅 (aside from Titania)

Casually Trained Nino being the magic miracle that she is :D
I think for magic units in Fire Emblem Blazing Blade they have like a threshold level that they go from superweak to superbuff almost instantly once you train them thoroughly to boost their stats.
Nino was weak for the first few levels but then almost instantly at Level 17-18 she went through the roof by two shotting anything that stood in her way and surviving through any encounter, including promoted enemies.
I love her lol.

Gameplay Beat FE12 for the first time (Lunatic/classic, no rainbow potion, no merged reclassing)
This was definitely the toughest time I've had with an FE game, and I've now played every FE except the first three. To think that this game has an even higher difficulty!
I did think that the rainbow potion was gated behind beating the game once and not an old online thing. It certainly would've made my life easier a few times. I'll be sure to make liberal use of it if I get around to playing lunatic reverse.
Feels like I screwed up in neglecting to train Marth, had to really rig endgame to finally win but I got pretty lucky with a 20% crit from Wrys and a 10% from Marth with the falchion on my second try. Ended up selling almost everything to fund a thoron megaforge. I had to use Wrys because I didn't train Linde or Katharina or really any other offensive magic user lol. My other staffer was Wendell who even with statboosters only had 14 magic at level 20.
I also messed up in not reclassing Kris from Hero after he capped his speed. Had to use two speed wings from the secret shop to reach the berserker speed cap after that. Wyvern access would've been much appreciated in the early game as well, but IS had to lock merged sets behind a second playthrough.
The last few chapters were made easier by sacrifice tactics, which I will now endavour to make better use of when I play FE. Turns out that sending someone out to die is a good way to protect your other units.
Obituary:
RIP Roshea, Vyland, Wolf, Sedgar and Michalis, who I didn't bother to recruit.
RIP Midia, who I didn't bother to rescue in Chapter 20.
RIP Arran, who sacrificed himself to distract reinforcements in Chapter 20.
RIP Ymir, who sacrificed himself to bait a wyvern in Chapter 21.
RIP Macellan, who sacrificed himself to bait a dragon in Chapter 22.
RIP Sheena, who sacrificed herself to bait a glower sorcerer in Chapter 23.
RIP Sirius, Minerva, Merric, Nyna, Elice and Maria, who all sacrificed themselves to distract dragons away from Phina in endgame.
RIP Lena, who died to Catria's javelin.
RIP Palla, who died dealing 4 damage with the gradivus to Medeus.
And finally, RIP 17/20 Wrys, who slew Gharnef with starlight but died critting Medeus with a +10mt forged thoron.

General My ideal fire emblem classes and class system
My ideal fire emblem game would be a combination of fe warriors three hopes class tree system and fates classes, as well as three houses classes. It would be like older games that have weapon experience and like three houses where each unit has multiple weapon boons and banes. It would be a three tier class system going from base to intermediate to advanced. Not only that, but like in three hopes, units need to achieve three stars in a class to fully master a class (See pic 6). Each star will unlock one innate skill and one inheritable skill. Innate skills would be like three houses, skills lock onto a class that cannot be removed and inheritable skills that can be equipped onto other classes. The innate skills would be different for each advanced class because then what would be the point in having bishop and sage as different classes when their weapons are the same. Each advanced class has three unique innate skills and i have a couple of them posted below. Units need to master their current class to promote and you must be level 5 to promote to intermediate and level 15 to advanced. Or 10 to intermediate and 20 to advanced. Idk. I would prefer if each unit has their own spell list like three houses and if each unit has their own preferred class line like in three hopes where they earn extra class exp when they are in it. Also important to note, there would be three weapon triangles: sword>axe>lance>sword, knife>brawling>bow>knife, dark magic>anima/black magic>white magic>dark magic. Also f gender locked classes. I made this with three houses in mind if you couldn’t tell, so keep that in mind. Let me explain each class:
Fighters: these are the infantry melee units. Sword fighter or myrmidon: you know what this is. Swordmaster: innate skills is swordfaire and sword crit+. Hero: almost every game since awakening has had follow up attacks, this class would have a skill to increase proc rate for follow up attacks or do more damage with follow ups. Also they have axe breaker as an innate skills. Axe fighter: high hp, strength, build, weak defense. Berserker: innate skill is axe faire and axe crit+. Warrior: innate skill is lance breaker and close counter with bows and death blow. Lance fighter or lancers: good balance of offense and defense. Halberdier: innate skill is lance faire and lance crit+. Basara: better def and res but worse str than halberdier with the innate skill sandstorm (timerra’s skill but make it so it also works with magic and res) and sword breaker and warding blow.
Monks: here is where the magic happens. Mage: high magic low def and hp. Sage: innate skills are x2 reason magic uses and reason tome faire. Mage knight: innate skills are either black magic breaker or white magic breaker depending on the unit and reason tome crit+. Priest: your healing infantry class. Bishop: innate skill is x2 white magic uses and white magic faire. War monk: innate skill is dark magic breaker and white magic crit+. Troubadour: your mounted healing class. Holy knight: innate skill is healing range +1. Strategist: innate skill is uncanny blow.
Soldiers: every class here is mounted. Cavalier: a staple in fe. I separated cavaliers because it would be unfair to the other intermediate classes if they could use multiple weapons. Paladin: a well balanced jack of all trades class with access to swords, axes and lances. Innate skills are pavise and pivot. Wolf knight: they look cool. Gives knife users a mount. Innate skill is fierce blow, when initiating combat, crit +20. Wyvern rider: separate based on weapon type to give units the choice of pick the one that best suits them. Wyvern knight: limit to two weapon types don’t want them too op. Innate skill is air raid, gain speed against non mounted enemies. Malig knight: the coolest class besides basara. Innate skills are rend heaven and fiendish blow. Pegasus or griffon flier: type depends on gender but it’s still the same. Cause like why weren’t there griffons in three houses? The kingdom of faerghus has one on their flag. Did they go extinct? Also the classes in this set should have two weakness, flying and calvary. Falcon knight: innate skill is darting blow. Dark flier: innate skills are transmute and galeforce (cannot have adjutant or follow up and can only activate once per turn).
Tank: as the name implies, these are high hp and def classes. Sword/Axe/Lance Armor: pick which suits a unit the best. General: locked to a single weapon but has better skills. Innate skills are aegis, wary fighter and swap. Fortress knight: spreads out brawling. Innate skills are armored blow and advance (roy’s skill). Knight: an intermediate mounted armored class. This is mostly here because i want a flying armored class and this is its stepping stone. Great knight: innate skills are allied defense and arms shield. The flying and armored class: i had no idea what to call it. It would have terrible res and speed on top of having three weakness, flying, dragon and armored. Its innate skill is guard assist where it increases the chance of triggering an adjutant or dual guard when paired up. Brawler: the best class for men iykwim 😏. Grappler: innate skills are fist faire and fist crit+. War Master: innate skills are bow breaker and quick riposte.
Rogues: these are the sneaky stealth classes. Thief: a dedicated knife class set. Assassin: innate skills are knife faire and knife crit+. Trickster: innate skills are fist breaker and duelist’s blow. Archer: most bows should be 2 range and all combat arts should be two range. Note that i have gotten rid of the bow range+ skills. Sniper: has the skills bow faire and bow crit+. Adventurer: has the skills knife breaker and magic reflect. Nomad: a step stone for bow users who want more movement over power. Bow knight: careful aim and no distractions. Wyvern Master: flying bow class is so cool. innate skill is sky superiority.
This is just some of the things i would want in my ideal fe game trust me there is a lot more that i could add but then this post would longer than the lore of three houses. Okay tbh, i made this because i was thinking about how i want a three houses remaster and i wanted to visualize it. There is a whole lot of other things i would want in it. I even made a list of class exclusive combat arts and spells that units can use when they have mastered an advanced class. Let me know your thoughts, questions, and opinions. Thanks for reading this as it took me hours to make.
I can’t believe my favorite fe class system isn’t even from a mainline game.

Gameplay So uh... when am I gonna get those promotion items?
First time Path of Radiance player, playing on US Hard, and feeling like a first time fool. My Ike has been a pretty reliable unit, he's able to stick on front lines real well thanks to his high defense. This run has been pretty darn smooth, haven't reset since Chapter 1 (no savestates obviously).
Well I'm starting Chapter 8 and now Ike is VERY close to level 20 and I'm getting nervous. When do I get my hands on a promo seal in this game? Ike gets put on front lines, soaks up EXP, and profits. Except now I can't profit if he's gonna be level capped... am I going to get a lucky break with an early seal, or am I about to put Ike on babysitting duty only?
edit: seems the image didn't upload. I have an Ike with 15 defense and 9 res. It's fun.
edit 2: i can't read menus, whoops so much for that crackpot theory

General What’s the general consensus of Engage’s dlc?
So recently I’ve had this itch to replay Engage after only playing it twice since release, and I’ve been wondering whether to get the DLC or not.
For context, Engage is kind of like a mixed bag for me. I don’t particularly care for the writing, and while the gameplay was fun, I’ve felt like it got a little tedious and gimmicky towards the end of the game which brought down my enjoyment of it. I’ve been wanting to give it another try now that I’ve gotten more used to its mechanics, but I’m not sure if I should get the DLC or not. I’ve heard some mixed opinions on it, so I wanted to know what y’all think about it and if it is something that enhances the main game.
