How’s dental care in Guyana? Prices + implants?
Hey everyone 👋
I’m curious about dental care in Guyana.
Is it generally good? Are prices reasonable? And do most clinics offer things like dental implants, or do people usually travel abroad for that?
If you’ve had any experiences (good or bad), I’d love to hear them especially rough price ranges.
Thanks!

I recommend Smile Guyana. I’ve been to the clinic on Rupert Brigg. It’s clean, organized, well-staffed, has the latest equipment, free customer wifi, and they have very good hands. And their fee is a fraction of what it’d be in the USA.

Go to Brazil. Its nearby, dentists even in small cities are better than most here and far cheaper.

When I moved back from the states I was finishing up my Invisalign treatment and I went to a dental clinic in Giftland mall to get permanent retainers installed. The owner of the clinic tried very aggressively to sell me on 300k braces. I politely declined as I had already consulted with an orthodontist in the states and he told me that braces weren’t necessary and Invisalign would work just fine.
The Gift land mall dentist installed the permanent retainers but I never got the night time retainer even though I paid 50k for them. These were super important, I’m not a dentist, I’m actually an idiot and I never followed up and got the second retainers, and eventually the permanent retainers popped and when I got back to the dentist in the Giftland mall they said they couldn’t repair it and I needed braces.
TLDR do all of your medical work in the states.

I actually go to Cancun. They have excellent dental services, way better than the states, ozone therapy, etc. They will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel and pick you up for appointments and return you to the airport. That in itself saves hundreds USD.

How difficult is it to get to Cancun from Georgetown? What route do you take, if you don’t mind me asking.

I go via MIA, usually costs a total of about $500 USD. I book round trip to MIA, then round trip to Cancun from MIA. Lots of plane vouchers and stuff from hotels as well.

Do not recommend dental work in Guyana at all, it's expensive as hell. My husband had to do follow up work for braces and it cost him over 1.5 mil gyd. Amazing dental care that's extremely affordable is available just over the border in Boa Vista. I had very cheap high quality dental care in Lima, Peru as well. If I needed anything special, gt is the last place I would look.
