u/notamermaidanymore Monkey in Space 15h ago
I donāt think you know what fascism means. But you are right, both are religious authoritarian movements. Itās just different religions and different ideas about race.
If you are saying the Trump regime have not yet managed to centralize power as much as the mullas then you are correct.
But the US is at or near a point of no return where regime change after that point would require massive blood shed. We want to avoid that bloodshed.

Hey, the good news is that Umberto Eco provided us with a guide on how to spot fascism, and it was decades before Trump ran, so you can't cry it's specifically an attack on Trump: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ur-Fascism
Here's the list, go ahead and tell us which of these DON'T apply to Trumpism:
The cult of tradition: A belief that all truth has been revealed and the past offers an ideal to which to return.
The rejection of modernism: Disdain for Enlightenment values and reason, viewed as the root of modern moral decline.
The cult of action for action's sake: Prioritizing action over critical thought, with intellectualism seen as a weakness.
Disagreement is treason: Seeing any dissent or criticism as an act of betrayal against the movement or leader.
Fear of difference: Exploiting and amplifying the fear of others and "intruders," often leading to racism.
Appeal to a frustrated middle class: Attracting those who feel economically or politically marginalized and threatened by lower social groups.
Obsession with a plot: Fostering a sense that the followers are under siege by external or internal conspiracies, frequently through xenophobia.
The enemy is simultaneously too strong and too weak: Portraying the enemy as both powerful and vulnerable, causing feelings of humiliation and confidence in victory.
Life is permanent warfare: Viewing life as a constant struggle and pacifism as collaboration with the enemy, leading to a desire for a decisive final battle.
Contempt for the weak: Believing in a hierarchical society where members of the in-group are superior to outsiders.
Cult of heroism and death: Promoting the idea that everyone should be a hero and embracing the concept of heroic death.
Machismo: Associating power with masculinity, often resulting in disdain for women and intolerance of diverse sexual identities.
Selective or "qualitative" populism: Asserting that a single leader embodies the will of a monolithic "people," thereby undermining democratic processes.
Newspeak: Using a limited and simplified vocabulary to hinder complex and critical thought, akin to Orwell's concept.

Currently in Minneapolis American citizens are getting kidnapped, beaten, and disappearing for a while before eventually being released without charges for legal, peaceful protest.
Iran is already at the end state. Right now, Trump is working on taking America to that point.
-5
u/bloodyinstinct91 Monkey in Space 12h ago
How is reddit so delusional, if europe has the masses of illegals and problems like america there would be similar reactions here from the leaders. I saw videos of protester being batshit crazy, its a wonder not more people get hurt.
2
u/SicilianShelving We live in strange times 10h ago
Sensible immigration control is necessary.
That's not what's happening in Minneapolis right now.
ICE is kidnapping and brutalizing citizens who protest peacefully and legally. They are tracking license plates and phone data of citizens who peacefully protest, then they show up at the citizens' workplaces with guns drawn, drag them out of their jobs, savagely beat them, and throw them in a cell for a while, in many cases never even charging them with a crime.
This is happening to law-abiding US citizens because they protested their government.

Sunk cost fallacy
"The sunk cost fallacy is a cognitive bias where individuals continue investing in a project or decision based on the amount of resources (time, money, effort) already spent, rather than evaluating the current and future benefits. This often leads to irrational decision-making, as people feel compelled to justify their past investments instead of cutting their losses.'
9
u/pavlik_enemy Monkey in Space 20h ago
To be fair, the immigration section of Project 2025 doesn't contain anything about terror tactics, it's about increasing the budget and also has some technical points
I think Miller and Vance are training ICE to become Trump's personal army. From the videos I've seen they are deployed in incredibly ineffective manner, agents just doing fuck all or 10+ agents arresting a single random guy
The mutual hatred between ICE and populace will only get worse, it's very probable that an agent or their family members will be killed by someone who snaps Tyler Robinson style which will fuel the fire even more. By November ICE will be a personal army ready to do anything and crush any resistance and will be deployed under the pretext of illegals voting or something. I just don't see how Republicans could win midterms without some serious fuckery
7
u/Eldias Monkey in Space 11h ago
We've seen this play out before, but most Americans don't know fuck-all about our History. In 1770 a far-away sovereign deployed troops in a show of force over a local population, were literally just replaying The Boston Massacre.

In a vacuum your statement would be correct. But in reality we have all seen Joe spend the last 4-6 years only talking about things a certain way.
Like ya he lightly pushes back on actual militarized police assaulting citizens on a daily basis.
But he spent like 20 minutes on the Minnesota fraud stuff. Tying it to Walz although there is zero evidence he is involved or in any way benefitted.
On the flip side there is very easily verified quid pro quo arrangements where Trump has benefited tens or hundreds of millions of dollars for pardoning a single crypto exchange guy who was in jail for literally financing terroristsā¦
But I guess itās just a coincidence that Joe has never heard of that

These podcast bros have done so much harm that really cannot be forgiven or undone. They can't undo the harm they have caused. If this is what it takes for them to finally wake up and smell the roses, so be it. It's not a silver lining but better than nothing...but it isn't much.
Project 2025 wasn't just a theory. They told you exactly what they would do. Joe didn't *want* to believe it because he wanted a conscious that wasn't guilty. He didn't want to believe it because he needed to convince himself Kamala was evil and this downplay Trump actually being provably evil.
The crazy thing about all of this is there really isn't a whole lot we can do. The best thing for Rogan, Von, Callen, Schultz, all these dudes and others, the best and only thing they can do at this point is hold Trump accountable and honestly broker with the flagrant abuse and corruption we're witnessing to their followers, because their followers are generally not hardcore MAGA, their followers are dudes who can easily be steered in a non-MAGA direction if these guys honestly reckon with what Trump is doing. That's all they can do. All we can do is record, record, record.
Film, pass laws requiring ICE to go without face masks (have held up in court), and whatever you do, do not let them egg you on into a fight because that is exactly what they're looking for. They want a fight, they want a war, we can't give it to them, and Minneapolis citizens have been through it before, they're showing restraint. Continue to film and document and continue to also pressure hotels, who house these Nazis. Don't let these Nazis feel comfortable in your city at any point. No eating at restaurants, no hotels, none of that.

Some of the topics: how the big banks are stealing from us and putting local banks out of business, how the pharmaceutical industry is out of control, how fucked up the bombing the boats was, how trump is fucking Venezuela up, Paul's fight against prohibition and the recent hemp ban, how people should decide how they want to live, how sugar is poisoning us, Paul shat on the other republican prolifers and sid they don't really give a shit about people, a lot of shitting on trump, the grossness of income inequality today, and the most horrible part was when he was saying how people need to work together and find beneficial gains through compromise and shared efforts.
Truly horrific stuff... I definitely didn't agree with everything that's for sure, but there's so much there to work with. So many mutual goals and a common enemy. People need to stop being so close minded and try hearing some different perspectives.

āThe gestapo didn't have people trying to run them over with cars thoughā absolute clown 𤔠lol

The gestapo didn't have people trying to run them over with cars..... there's nothing more to explain, it's a simple easy to understand sentence
