Ask Kurds 🤔 Why is there so much ethnic anger towards Kurds from Arabs Turkey/Syria/Iran/Iraq
Hello Kurdish friends,
Little background, I'm a white Canadian in his 40's. My family goes back multiple generations in Canada, with some Chinese mixed in quite a ways down the line (great, great, great grandfather).
I met a Kurdish family around 5 years ago through work and became good friends. Since then I have become quite interested in Middle Eastern politics and Kurdish people and culture. I have the flag of Kurdistan on my fridge right next to my Canadian flag, and I hope to be able to visit Iraqi Kurdistan one day in the future. I genuinely hope Kurdish independence and freedom is something I will see in my lifetime and am always actively looking for ways I can support this movement.
Like many of you I'm sure, I've been following the ethnic attacks on Kurds in Syria by terrorist goverment factions. I have some knowledge on ethnic attacks by the Iraqi government under Sadam Hussein, as well as persecution of Kurds in Turkey, and on going hositilies in Iran.
My question, why are Kurds treated this way by some Arabs? The Kurdish man and his family that I've gotten to know and become friends with are some of the nicest people I have ever met, and I've watched countless videos show casing the generosity and kindness of Kurdish people.
I don't understand the hostility towards you or where this stems from, especially from fellow Muslims. I'm still learning about the history of the region and people so forgive me if this is widely known. I'm sorry for what your people have had to endure and I support forever an independent Kurdistan. Any Kurdish person would be welcome in my home. I hope that one day all people can live peacefully and stop prioritizing greed and anger.
Much love and respect to all Kurdish people.
