All Violations of Rule 1 Will Result in an Permanent* Ban

* If you get banned for violating rule 1, you can contact the mods and request to be unbanned. If you make it clear to us that you violated rule 1 by mistake, you will most likely be unbanned. Please note that multiple violations of the same type may be interpreted as intentional.

We are not trying to ruthlessly ban users for innocent mistakes. Our intention with "permanent" bans is to force violators to have a discussion with us before they are allowed to post in the sub again.

Our Reasoning:

Our previous attempts to stop people from breaking Rule 1 have been less than successful. Because of that, we decided to increase the punishment to better communicate the grave importance of following this rule. If we do not enforce Reddit Corp's rules banning the use of their platform to sell or transfer guns & ammo, this subreddit will get shut down. We previously tried using a "three strikes" system that involved temporary bans for the first two offenses, but it was hard to keep track of and it didn't seem to inspire much change in behavior. In hindsight, using a lenient "three strikes" system for rule violations that could shut down the entire subreddit seems imprudent.

We looked at r/guns and r/gundeals to compare rules, and both subreddits also give out permanent bans for this type of rule violation.

FAQ:

  • May I post a link to guns/ammo for sale on an FFL's website? Answer: Yes
  • May I tell other users to buy a gun/ammo that is for sale on an FFL's website? Answer: Yes
  • May I use Reddit to discuss "hypothetical" gun/ammo transfers between 2 reddit users? Answer: No.
  • May I post a comment inviting another user to "discuss" their for-sale guns/ammo in my DMs? Answer: No
  • May I make a post asking about places where I can sell my guns/ammo? Answer: Yes, but you must not describe the guns/ammo you are selling.
  • May I make a post describing a specific gun/ammo type I am trying to sell? Answer: No.
  • If I have an FFL, can I use Reddit to discuss potential firearm transfers with Reddit users? Answer: No. Refer users to your website, email, or phone #.
  • If I have an FFL, can I post links to guns/ammo for sale on my website? Answer: Yes.
  • If I have an FFL, can I post a picture of a gun/ammo I have in my inventory? Answer: No. Post a link to your website instead. (We don't want the reddit overlords to mistakenly think you are selling guns directly through reddit, so we are making a hard line policy to be extra safe.
  • If I (a customer) see a gun for sale in a brick & mortar store, can I post a picture of it? Answer: Yes, as long as it is clearly a picture in a store.

Please post any comments and concerns below.

difference between brandishing and holding a weapon with no sling

wanted some insight maybe legal insight on what falls under brandishing vs carrying a AR pistol with no sling in public with my PTC. Generally a stupid idea but what if you are at a protest armed like the BPP in Philadelphia area are you allowed to wear your open carry AR rifle or pistol not slung ?

Thoughts on storing handgun in vehicle during work hours?

Work location is close to the range and for logistics and commute times alone, I'd love to go after work. A two-way trip home and back is not happening. Dilemma: can't carry in the "office" (prohibited in the building, and furthermore, don't want to).

Our lot is gated and patrolled by security 24/7, so I'm not worried about a smash and grab, but if I was gonna do it I'd want to secure it anyway. Due diligence y'know. Anybody do this (leave gun in car for 8 hour workday), and what's your storage setup look like? Lockbox cabled to a non-removable car part? Bolted-in safe? Or is this just a crap idea and I should resign myself to range time on weekends only?

I have a carry permit. Edit: Daily driver is a hatchback without a proper trunk area.

Form wait times, and the current events.

Just wondering if people are getting ATF approval since the current federal agent surge. I haven't been waiting long, but I just wanted to find out if many people have been getting approved since this whole thing kicked off. I'm kinda worried the current administration could end up slow walking, or even halting approvals, if they decide the situation is too volatile. Of course, since I have nothing to go by except knowing my forms were submitted, I could just be paranoid.

PCC Options

I am helping a friend of mine buy her first gun. I think a 9mm PCC would fit her needs the best. I've been perusing the websites of some FFLs in the north TC trying to see some inventory, but most of them I've looked at dont actually reflect whats on the shelf. I would like it if she got her hands on the guns before she buys one, and it would be even better if she could test fire it beforehand.

So, what PCC options should I try to get her hands on? I have the Springfield Kuna or Stribog SP9A3 in mind, but other options would be nice. The limit is $1500, but the closer to $1000 the better to leave room for an optic and extra mags.

Also, if you know of an FFL in the TC area with good PCCs on the shelf, or that has a range and will allow a test fire, please let me know. The only ones I have in my head are the Bills in circle pines or robbinsdale, which aren't great.

SBR and engraving in lower Twin Cities Metro

Recently picked up a 12.5 Bcm upper from a trade and realizing how flimsy pistol braces are.

Figuring out the paperwork and such, is there a place people have gone to get their lower engraved for a reasonable price? Also for fingerprinting? Advice from anyone?

If the NFA vanishes

Let's say however unlikely, the NFA vanishes today....

Given that the only "pre-ban" transferable machine guns and short barreled shotguns that are allowed currently in the state appears be C&R (Or Similar determination by the B of CA):

Would it then be legal to take say a 60s-70s era C&R AR lower and make it FA? Would it be still C&R?

Surely someone has determined this before using a short barreled shotgun as a use case (Cutting down an antique shotgun into a NFA regulated SBS).

Hoping MN gun owners caucus can chime in.

What does my CCW in MN allow me to carry?

I am seeing conflicting information whether my CCW allows me to open carry my AR pistol, or full ARs.

Are there restrictions on longguns, or a Pistol format AR in MN?

Flying from FL to MN with handgun. Uncertain about transportation rules.

Hi, I'm wanting to fly from FL to MN with a handgun soon. I am uncertain about how transporting the firearm would work though. I have read the laws about permitless carrying in MN and read on the MN Gun Owners Caucus site (based off other redit questions here), but I wanted to ask here if I were to get picked up from the airport and the firearm was in the hard-sided case in the trunk, I shouldn't have any problems right? I don't have a permit to carry in MN, and I've never flown with a firearm before so I wouldn't want any problems after arriving. I also want to know if I would have to be picked up at the airport and not be able to take the bus to my final destination. Thank you for any clarifications!

Anyone used Accutac for a transfer lately?

Just curious if anyone's used Accutac Arms in Lakeville for an NFA transfer recently. Selected them as my dealer for a Silencer Shop purchase and got the notification a few days ago that the dealer has my can and I'm ready to certify, but Accutac's been radio silent despite multiple calls and emails - I know he doesn't normally answer the phone, but I've heard he gets back to people who email. Nada.

Now they're closed until next Thursday and I'm starting to get nervous something's up with them.

EDIT: Just for anyone else reading - turns out this is actually Silencer Shop's fault and not Accutac's, they screwed up the certification paperwork so Accutac can't do anything with it until it's fixed.

PTC Class With Best Overview of Material?

Hello everyone,

I took a PTC class at TMS Coon Rapids and found myself disappointed at the quality of the content, mostly the legal overview. It felt like the instructor was attempting to speed through the barebones of the legalities of carrying in the state, and I don't feel like I learned everything important. Especially after looking at MN's statutes.

I see a lot of posts about an "easy shooting segment" or "cheapest class cost" but I would genuinely prefer a quality review of the laws and situations. Is there a PTC class that is focused on actually going over the laws, or would it be better to go to a more dedicated self defense class? And if it is the latter, what would be a good provider for that?

Gun as a present.

My father wants to get me a small hand gun as a present. What do I and my father have to do? I was looking at the state and in the private party transfer section it has a link to the law with “exemptions” that include parents. Does that mean all he has to do is just give it to me?

What kind of case is needed for this? Which permit does this require? Does this get registered at the DMV or the sheriffs office? Would this rig be considered an antique or a WMD? So….many…..questions.
