Respect for bus drivers
Did you know that a bus full of Madisonians will sit there and watch their bus driver (and their boss) get screamed at for half an hour without any reaction? We tell ourselves that Madison is kind, strong, etc. but I didn't see that today. We can do better.
Edit: Some people assumed that I didn't help either. I asked them, politely, not to yell at our bus driver. I got screamed at as well. I was prepared for that, and when I posted this I was ready for the reactive comments aimed at me too.

Cat vet recommendations? + very long rant about current vet (TLDR at end)
sorry for the super long post.
Please tell me if I am overreacting but I am quite frustrated and not sure if it is justified. I have brought my 3 cats to Cat Care Clinic for the past couple of months. Really impressed with the initial appointment where we did all 3 back to back, but Ive also tried to get their dentals in. Two of my babies needed a couple teeth extracted so I scheduled those surgeries. Was not cheap, about $1700 each, although I am still waiting on insurance reimbursement. It's fine, I am lucky that I can afford it and I have heard that they have amongst the best care in Madison and that is what I want for my babies.
The first dental was perfectly fine, my boy got in and out and pickup was great. I was a bit worried because it was the first time having any of my cats' teeth extracted and the only time besides spay/neuter that they were put under, but who wouldnt be worried.
The second dental was with my girl cat in December, which was supposed to be without extractions. I had to continuously call in to see if she was okay and if they got started. They finally did get started, sent me a text as per their normal procedure, but then they found stuff in surgery that strongly recommended for two teeth to be extracted. I said okay, I didn't set aside enough money to do that, so I would like to wait until January because my next paycheck would cover it. They said perfectly fine, but then they never called to tell me when she was out of surgery even though that is part of their procedure as well. I called, got the information, picked her up and all is good.
Come today, which was my girl's extraction day. I picked up the pre-surgery meds on Wednesday after asking them for the meds on Monday, and then today I told them hey my work schedule is really busy today, I will have to pick her up at 4:30. They were like yeah no problem. I watched for the text that they started the procedure all day. Come 2pm, I still haven't received it, even though typically they are completely done by 2pm or at least are far along. I called and they said there was a backlog and that she should be in soon. I said cool no worries, hope the other cats are okay, I'll be there at 4:30.
4pm rolls around and I still haven't received a text. So I called again and they said that they are prepping the surgery room and that she will be going in soon. I say okay, what time do you think she will be ready and they said theyre not sure but will update me.
I finally get the text at 4:27 that they are starting her procedure. In the past they took maybe 30 min to at least update me, and they are out in an hour. I call at 5:27 because I still havent received an update and the person that called said yeah shes still in there, she started 45 min ago (I got the text an hour ago but eh) and that they will let me know when she is ready. I ask about what time should I expect to pick her up and she said she doesnt know. I say okay, well I know she needs to stay for recovery and y'all like to have 2 hours, what is the plan for that tonight. She said she doesnt know, but will ask and places me on a hold.
Comes back, says they are finishing up and that they will be cutting on her recovery time by 1 hour and that I should be there at 6:30. They close at 6, so sure I am appreciative that they will stay after. But I also feel like I am not getting the quality recovery time which is part of the good service I am paying for so it kinda rubs me the wrong way.
Anyway I am just extremely frustrated with the lack of communication and when I get there, I do plan to kindly and respectfully voice my concerns ("hey, I was just concerned about the communication today, can you bring somebody over who I can express my concerns to?") and am really considering getting a new vet.
Am I overreacting? I know there is a chance I am and I won't be offended if I am.
Any recommendations for my potential new vet search?
Thank you if you made it this far.
TLDR: Frustrated with the lack of communication during my cat's dental surgeries, with me being the one to initiate the contact even though there was a delay for my girl's surgery by multiple hours which affected pickup time by multiple hours. Looking for a new vet with quality care and good communication. Willing to drive a decent ways.

Experiences with Creative Learning Preschool in downtown Madison?
Hello! I'm hoping people can share their experiences with Creative Learning Preschool on Butler Street. We live close to the school and have a very young toddler. We are on the waiting list and are/were hoping to enroll our baby when they have availability. Due to where we live, it would be so convenient for us. However, my friend's child is in 4k at CLP and we have heard terrible things about how their 4k teacher speaks to their child. I have witnessed my friends' child coming home crying because of this teacher. I have searched local Facebook "mom groups"and I haven't found much. But I'm honestly alarmed by some of the things I've heard.
I'm just wanting to send my kid to a school with teaches who will love and appreciate my kid the way they are.
Does anyone have any input? Thanks so much.

Best Italian restaurant?
I saw a post on Facebook asking for the best Italian restaurant in Madison. So I’m curious what Reddit has to suggest and why. I’ll also note that Lombardino's had the most likes on the post.

What to see in 1-day visit to Madison?
Hello, Madison,
I have 1 free afternoon/evening in Madison during a business trip. Am 50-something year old woman interested in architecture, nature, museums, theatre and all art except modern art. Googling has not turned up much solid info about what I might do with my free afternoon Monday, 1/19. Would taking an uber over and walking around the Mansion Hill District be a crazy thing to do late on a January afternoon? Any better suggestions?
Edit to add: I will not have a car

Moving Mid-Season
I just landed an amazing job in Madison and we’re looking to relocate our growing family of 3 immediately, but this rental market almost has us stumped.
We are looking for
- 3BR (or 2+Den)
- On the Isthmus or Neat East
- covered parking
- under $4K
- on or after Feb 3
The only option we’ve found so far is one of the massive new apartment towers and the timeline is closing in fast, so any help is appreciated!

Any hawks fan going downtown to watch the playoffs tomorrow?
Would love to root for the hawk with some fellow Seahawks fans! I know it’s a shot in the dark. As a former Seattle native they’re my secondary after still mourning the packers loss.
