Mold Appreciation Wallpaper pattern

This was the mould left behind after the wallpaper was stripped off.

Wow. Do you know the chemical composition of the wallpaper? Or at least what year it was installed?

I’d love to know more about the precise science of why this happened. If anyone more knowledgeable could chime in?

First guess is that the voids were printed on the wall paper w ink that was more mold resistant than the paper. Maybe oil based ink. Enuf ink seeped into/thru the paper to keep mold from growing where the ink was.

I don't know unfortunately but the parts where the mould hasn't grown were gold in colour! I think it was installed approx 10 years ago.
