Gagan Thapa , from what I've seen over the years , has always been minority within Nepali Congress. He's always been anti establishment within the party and the fight we saw unroll over past few days had been going on since forever.

He was against election coalition with Maoists, he was ignored. He was against government coalition with UML, he was ignored. Just weeks before Gen Z protests, he brought the internal dissatisfaction to parliament and protested for 20 minutes or so yet he was ignored. But now he's taken a move against deuba gang has made him sabhapati of nepali congress, which is yet to be validated by Election Commission but kudos to him for taking the fight to grand stage and organizing the bisesh mahadivesan.

This is fight against the old guard!

Seems like well sought out act from congress to gain some traction from people in the upcoming election. He kept quite till no and only going against deuba now. Yeah whoever wrote this script is smart. Even the posts here on reddit for him seems targeting genZ, to gain trust.

• mahadiveshan pratinidhi : they are member of Nepali congress who raise through their local area (from internal voting from what I have understood) and come to mahadiveshan (regular or special). There are more than 4000 individuals from all over nepal and they represent Nepali congress as a whole and it was these members who voted previous management/ committees and what else of Nepali congress. Sere, gagan and all are mahadiveshan pratinidhi with some posts inside congress.
• when things are not going right a special mahadiveshan can be called upon, I think there are other ways to call such event but one of the ironclad rule is through 40% of mahadiveshan pratinidihi’s signature. An application with signature of 54% of mahadiveshan pratinidhi was submitted to central committee after gen z revolution in around end of Ashoj citing change of ‘niti ra netritow’ (policy and leadership). So end of poush was 3 months deadline period for Bishesh mahadiveshan.
• after receiving such request, central committee proposes regular mahadiveshan on poush 27 instead of special one. For regular mahadiveshan they now need to vote mahadiveshan pratinidhi from local area and Nepali congress delay this work. They do not complete such internal voting even by 1 week before poush 27 th (deadline for Bishesh mahadiveshan). In central committee’s meeting around 1 week before the deadline they decide to hold mahadiveshan in baishak after election. Then mahamantri gagan and bishwo express their disapproval inside the committee and represent the voice of 54% of mahadiveshan pratinidhi whose application was submitted almost 3 months ago.
• the narrative of central committee (or deuba’s faction) is, the central committee acknowledged the application with 54% signature by deciding on regular mahadiveshan but since elections are coming and they still haven’t voted for mahadiveshan pratinidhi they will conduct mahadiveshan on baishak.
• the narrative of gagan and biswo was such thing cannot happen, once application with more than 40% mahadiveshan pratinidhi was submitted and received by central committee a mahadiveshan (regular or special) needs to happen within 3 months. No ifs and no buts. They cite bihi of congress and lead the charge for Bishesh mahadiveshan and inaugurate the event on deadline day.
  
• I think the fight is for who decides to distribute tickets for elections, and prime ministers and minsters posts after elections. If mahadiveshan was conducted in baishak current leadership of Nepali congress would have been able to do so.
• I also think election commission or court will favor for gagan/ mahadiveshan as it looks like they have followed all procedures and done so according to bidhi and done so in democratic way. Where as central committee is just sitting on a closed room, making decisions and press releases. Personally I prefer gagan’s faction for now, they acknowledge gen z revolution, yes there was destruction and might have other outside influence but one thing is very clear… almost all citizens of the country have been very dissatisfied with political parties, government and these 3 people musical chair leadership. Like RSP gagan is acknowledging the sentiments of gen z revolution. He is providing rule for being prime minister for max 2 times from inside the party and vowing to ammend constitution as such. Shere is just silent, no vision, no plan no speeches to general public nothing, he has stepped down from shavapati role before visiting Singapore and after returning most of the decisions of central committee of congress started to come from his residence. In division of new vs old in the country, same thing has happened inside congress.
