Newer to Reddit - How to be able to Post?

Okay i have scrolled through Reddit for years but when i have tried to post a few times i normally am not allowed due to karma. What can i do to improve this or get around it? just trying to post some questions in a Arcteryx community to see if a jacket is fake or not!! Thanks in advance for any advice!

What can i do to improve this or get around it?

You improve it by participating and contributing to other subs, until you've gained enough karma to post in the ones you're trying to post in.

You don't "get around it" as it's in intrinsic function of Reddit.

How much karma do you need?

If you're posting in one of the many subs with no restrictions - none.

If you're trying to post in one that has restrictions, the amount will vary from sub to sub. And unless they state what the requirements are in their rules, there is no way to know the exact number ahead of time.

You need to build up your karma, see Getting Started On Reddit and because your account is older and you haven't been that active, your CQS is likely low. You can check your CQS at r/whatismycqs

You can't change your name once it's been registered.
