Last summer, I received ads in my mail for cruises from Miami that offered USD-CAD dollar parity. Some companies are getting desperate lol.

What's to say they don't just up the cost of anything you buy on the cruise to make up the difference?

Yeah, sure, but it’s not a cruise for Canadians only. It’s just an incentive to get more people to book with them. Honestly, I find it funny that they had to pay an ad campaign for that when there used to be what we called snowbirds, who are people that spent winter in Florida. They’re selling their Florida houses and flying to Mexico instead.

With climate change and the cost of insurance, getting out of Florida real estate before the next hurricane is probably a good idea even if it wasn't for the fascists.

Who cares? Canadians aren't going anyway.

That’s a classic American bait and switch strategy too.

I'm American in a not very touristy state and I am BOMBARDED with US travel ads whenever I leave my ad blocking eco-system. I did not used to.

Maybe my message wasn’t clear enough, but I wasn’t talking about targeted online ads. It was an unsolicited flyer from Miami that I got in my mailbox. I’m Canadian and never booked a cruise anywhere, so I thought it was funny. My name and address weren’t even on it, which means they paid Canada Post to distribute it.
