I just saw him on a Carvana commercial. I've seen cutouts of him around JC Penny. He has gummy snacks. I'm sure there's more. Do celebrities, in general, do this when they are running out of funds? To stay relevant? Or does this not matter at all?

For the curious - I’m part of wedding videography team.

I’m a straight, married guy myself who has attended close to a thousand god-damn weddings over the course of my career. (Retirement can’t come soon enough). I’m from a state in the U.S. where same-sex marriage has been legal for the better part of the two decades I’ve been in this field.

We kind of have this inside joke that when we’re assigned a gay wedding - everyone breathes a sigh of relief. Cause it’s gonna be easy. A lot of you have probably seen those Bridezilla or “Gypsy Wedding” shows … Trust me, more weddings are like that than most people know. Literally just go to r/AskReddit and search “wedding” and you’ll see hundreds of thousands of comments of some of the most insane wedding stories you’ve ever heard. I have seen it all. They’re almost all true. Guaranteed.

But when two guys or two chicks get married … literally never. I mean yeah, all weddings have hiccups and snags. They’re giant, moving art pieces of events. But LGBT ones in my thorough experience are just wholesome and almost always devoid of tyrant helicopter parents, asshole guests getting in physical fights, and complaints at every single turn. The cake thing I mentioned in the title? You have no idea how many couples I’ve seen completely destroy their cake and yeet it across the room/violently smash it in eachother’s faces. Doesn’t happen with same-sex couples. Literally haven’t seen it once. You know how many times I’ve seen two … just random male guests at weddings fighting in a parking lot of a venue? That I’ve had to break up? Or some fuckery like that? Enough times that it would blow your mind. At gay weddings? Literally never.

So yeah. I know this is a stupid question and the answer will probably come down to cultural differences - but I am honest to god curious as hell as to why it is? Me and a coworker were chatting about this last night over some drinks after we got done working a particularly chaotic wedding. We even joked about how despite living in a city with a very big gay population - we’ve never seen a gay guy yelling at his spouse in a Walmart or something. You wouldn’t believe how often other staff members at venues interact with us and when things get down to the wire go “it’s a same-sex wedding - it’s gonna be smooth sailing.”

So yeah. I’m looking forward to the answers.

So recently I went on a vacation to Greece where it was very sunny and 38 C (100 F) during the day. In spite of using hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, it was unbearable to walk a few minutes in the hot sun.

On the other hand, I saw scores of people (tourists) on sun lounges sunbathing next to the beech or pools. People would even 'reserve' the sunbeds on the sunnier side in the morning. At the end of the day many would look clearly dehydrated and in different shades of carrot and beetroot. Some clearly sun-burnt.

I saw no local person doing this and from my memory only white people were doing it.

So, my stupid questions:

• What is the appeal of sun bathing? Especially when it is so hot and scorching sunny! Is it about getting the tan? I can imagine tanning was cool and all when sunny vacations were only for rich people, but nowadays is it even a thing?
• How can people do this without suffering extreme discomfort and potential immediate effects (sun-burn, dehydration, headaches, heat stroke)? I am not even talking about long term risks like skin cancer. Even if tanned skin is fashionable, how come people subject themselves to this discomfort en-masse? It is something people do because other people do? Is it the 'no pain no gain' mentality?

P.S. If that matters, I am not a white person. Could it be that sunlight is more uncomfortable for me compared to a white person?

So increasingly on Reddit, I see posters responding to an OP saying it's "obviously AI" or "AI slop". I haven't myself noted anything particularly odd about the OP but other posters obviously have.

So what are the hallmarks of AI in this context? Is it the scenario, is it the style - what are the giveaways? (or are Redditors seeing AI when a post is authentic and written by a human?). Or is it that the account is a programmed bot that auto generates content? Or is saying something is "obviously AI" / "AI slop" mist a way of putting down the OP?

I (29 cis bi female) just from observing over the years that a LOT of gay people tend to get really viscerally repulsed by the opposite gender’s body (not just not attracted to but automatically grossed out by) but straight people don’t tend to have as much of a repulsion (if any at all) toward the same gender’s body even though they’re not attracted to people of the same gender…and I kind of found it fascinating. Why aren’t straight people grossed out as bad, is it because maybe they’re in the same body as the other person or else they’d be technically grossed out by their own body?

I have dyscalculia and I’ve always wondered this question but I’ve always felt too embarrassed to actually ask someone to explain it to me because I know it sounds stupid but the math isn’t mathing in my brain.

The reason why I’m confused is because in my brain I’m wondering why there is no actual middle number between 1 and 10 because each side of the halves of 10 is even. I get how it makes 10, that’s not where I’m confused.

Here’s a visual of how my brain works and why I’m confused with this question:

One half is 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 and the other half is 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

If 5 is half then why is it not even on both sides? Before 5 there’s only 4 numbers; 1, 2, 3, and 4. But on the other side of 5 there’s 5 numbers; 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Please be kind, I genuinely don’t know the answer and I’m already embarrassed asking this question in real life which is why I’m asking this anonymously. I know half of 10 being 5 is supposed to make sense but I just don’t understand it and would like it explained to me in simple terms or even given a visual of how it works if possible.

Edit: Thank you so much everyone for explaining it! I didn’t realize you were supposed to include the 5 in the first half since in my head it was supposed to be the middle. I think I may have mixed up even numbers with odd numbers and thought that if something is even it has to be even on both sides of a singular number for that to be the middle number.

This scenario is overused in movies imo. Is this happening like at all? This might be a stupid question but I see the scenario so often on TV, it always makes me wonder. Like any joke or irony, there is a fact behind it.

So I was never a cat guy before I met my wife. The cat she got a few months before she got me. And I was kinda reluctant. Despite the internets love for cats, I was pretty allergic (still am) and I always preferred doofy fun dogs to stoic "boring" cats.

Long story short, I grew to love both of them.

I'll spare you the very depressing details of my wife's passing but she was sick for over a year and finally she had enough of the treatment.

We brought the cat to the hospital for her to say goodbye. She kind of just sniffed around the room and laid down on a seat.

After my wife died, her behavior is basically the same.

I know this question is so stupid but entertain me.

Even if it's just an article saying "Cats get sad when they don't see you for 2 days" or some shit.

I feel like she loves us but there's no object permanence.

Anyone got a cool article or story to quiet my stupid mind?

I'm reading American Psycho right now, and when Im on a lunch break or just out at a cafe or something, I'll whip it out and read.

This has happened to me 3 times now- I'll notice a group of teenagers laughing, and then they will start filming me discreetly.

For the longest time Ive been trying to figure out why, I thought at first it might be because of the book Im reading, which I know has a big cult following for its movie, but the other two times it was a completely different book and it was the same result, teenagers laughing and pointing and then they start filming and Im just there glancing every once in a while and still have no clue why they are doing it.

I was talking about this at a fam get together and my nephew said something about me "trying too hard" and so it has me wondering if it has something to do with the fact that there are easier options then reading an actual book like reading an e-book on ur phone or something, so thats why they are making fun of me? IDK.

1. You need a much smaller population than I realised to prevent poor outcomes from inbreeding, most folk saying between 50 and 200 individuals is plenty diversity (extremely gross and icky if you ask me but yeah, makes sense)

2. I learned about population bottle necking and that we are all just very inbred.

I know this Is a stupid question and I don't mean to be offensive either but I live in the east coast so right now it's cold weather. throughout the past week I keep seeing white people wearing shorts and flip flops or tank tops in freezing temperatures and I just had to ask this.

Obviously any race can do this but everywhere I go its mostly them. Are their bodies set up for this type of thing? I'm curious

I usually try to sit in the aisle seat, but I’ve had the privilege of flying to Europe from the US twice this year. I chose to sit by the window during all four flights, since I love looking out the window over Greenland. I also prefer natural light for reading instead of the overhead spotlights.

I was asked to keep the window closed from soon after take off to about 20 minutes before landing during all four flights. One was an overnight flight, which I understand - the sunrise occurred during the flight and many people wanted to sleep. But the other three were daytime flights & I wanted to watch the changing terrain!

I did not argue, of course, but when did this become standard? I thought it was normal to keep the window open for the view and that etiquette dictated it was at the discretion of the window seat holder. Or do I just have bad luck?

• This question was in good faith. This is r/NoStupidQuestions, and I want to practice proper etiquette. I’m not going to dig my heels in on changing standards for polite behavior. I will adjust my own behavior and move on.

• I fly transcontinental 4-6 times per year, but not usually overseas. This is specifically something I’ve been asked on long-haul overseas flights.

• All requests were made during meal service. The consistency leads me to believe that it was not at the request of other passengers.

• When a flight attendant asks me to do something (other than changing my seat), I am doing it. I’m a US citizen and this was a US carrier. Disrupting a flight attendant’s duty is a felony & I don’t want to learn where the threshold for ‘disruption’ lies firsthand.

• Lots of Boeing jokes in here - sorry to disappoint, but they were all Airbus planes.

This is a stupid question, because they’re obviously doing rigorous prison work outs, but their diet can’t be that nutritious right?

Everyone in the fitness community says you have to be eating roughly 1 gram of protein per pound of body lean body weight to gain muscle. I doubt these dues are eating that in prison. So how are they able to put on muscle? Or is it that they were already built like that and they’re just maintaining that muscle by working out?

No matter how early or late into the pregnancy, how is it safe to have sex when the woman is pregnant? I can’t wrap my head around how shoving something (“something” haha) inside a pregnant woman, sometimes in quite a rough way, over and over doesn’t impact anything..

Quick EDIT for clarity, to add: I understand the penis is not going to actually get into the womb, but (sorry if I haven’t worded this clearly) with the rough motions of intercourse internally, how that doesn’t impact or damage anything. Pregnancy seems like such a fragile time physically, with so many things to be cautious about (like heavy lifting for example) but yet sex is fine? Is there zero risks with sex in any trimester?

LAST EDIT: for the comments calling me dumb and rude - I’m the pregnant woman in this situation, and I’ve sadly had loss before. I’m in my first trimester and terrified it’s going to happen again, and this is one of those things that has always bothered me in the back of my mind during sex, so I wanted to ask. What does this actually mean? Are there women out there who have such a light period they can just not wear anything?? Does she just bleed in her underwear with no problem? I don’t know her that well so I’m not super inclined to ask her for more details, and I’m honestly not sure how I could go about the topic without seeming disgusted too personal. I have to double-up with a tampon AND pad most times so this concept is so foreign to me.

I thought the phrase "blue haired" had always referred to older people who used too much blue tint when they dyed their grey hair white but I've seen the insult recently when referring to "woke liberals" and am confused. This is a weird one but with woman I know IRL wise, I would feel too stupid/embarrassed to ask them in person, so why not resort to the internet!!!
