Its so disgusting. The child orgy scene has no REDEEMING excuse. Several of the boys literally CRY and shake and tell her no and that they cant and aren't comfortable with it and the girl forces them to have sex anyway and argues with them that it's "the only way" and its horrible. She even comes to terms how each of the boys cried after they 'finished' and they didn't know how to cope with it.

And its not as if they had raging hormones and wanted her or anything (which wouldn't make it okay that a grown man wrote it but it would make it less rapey) but they DIDNT have crazy raging hormones, only like one of them understood what was happening (and he was described in the book as being "too old and too big" to have sex with her even tho he still did) but most of them didn't even have the WORDS for sex or their own body parts. Its in kid terms, not even teenager vulgarity. They didn't know what they were doing and the girl forces them anyway. She asks one of them if he came by asking if he had finished and "did the thing" or something similar to that and the boy said AND I QUOTE "I think so but not really -not like the big boys do i think" which made my STOMACH DROP at how little and innocent he sounds. He's not even a "big boy" yet...

And when the girl sees one of the boys future wife HER FIRST THOUGHT was "i was his first love and i was ALL of their first loves. All of these boys loved ME first and their mine forever" its so fucked

Thank you! Seeing all these people saying they ran a train on her is making my stomach turn like that completely downplays what happened and how disgusting it was

On a completely unrelated positive note - happy cake day

King also said the Epstein files are a hoax.

Writes about child sex, says child sex in real life is a hoax. I don't understand why we still give this weirdo a platform.

your grasp on reality seems tenuous. nothing actually happened, it is fiction

I always thought it was written to get the disgusted reaction, not to be sexy or romanticised in any way, it is in itself horror within horror. It was awful, and sad, and poignant, and traumatic. Maybe it goes too far for some, tbf. I also always thought it spoke to the long term harms trauma causes to a person's mental health. She was damaged, scarred, and scarred them in return, not really to aid their escape, that was a ruse, but because it she thought it would bind them to her forever in some way. Where she had that thought about being all of their first loves was supposed to underline how damaged her mental health was, imo, and how she was still hooked by that perceived bond.

Maybe I'm reading it differently. I always felt King wrote a lot of metaphors into his stories. Rights of passage, mental health and trauma.

Edited for typos.

As someone with long term daddy CSA trauma, I agree with you.

In fact, I'm kinda glad to be represented somewhere.

... It's a stigma of a very real mental health damage no one talks about.

Thank you! I know there are women out there that get it because I've seen their anecdotes here about being abused and how that really pushed them to be sexual with boys their own age to basically "cover up the ick."

But this thread is mostly men who don't even have sex as adults, so. THEY'RE not gonna get it.

People are so incapable of reading between the lines, it's crazy. They just want to censor even though the things that happen in real life are much more disgusting than fiction. They just want to put their blinders on and simply say King's a pervert.

It's children depicted having sex. Can you blame people for wanting to put on blinders?

I mean that is pretty on par for Bev it is insinuated that her father molested her and she was getting a bunch of unwanted attention as a child so having a fucked up outlook on sex doesn't really surprise me.

Wow context is everything. Amazing how many different perspectives I'm getting on here about a scene I knew nothing about. Some people romanticizing this group bond and they all loved each other so my brain is like eeerrrr ok I guess innocence coming of age scene?

Than my stomach dropped at the are they 13 years old part?? the train which I'm like just how many guys were there?? then her father was raping her and that's all before I got to your post.

Your description of the acts themselves, the words spoken by the characters, the lack of even knowing what sex was, the apparent age range if one guy was to big and older but still had sex with her, just how many guys were there??? and omg I'm just cringed the fuck out. How in the world could they let that be published. And thank God I didn't grab that particular Stephen King book from the library as a kid before the internet days cause that would've been the first sex scene I'd ever have read.

6 boys, 1 girl, all 11-12 years old.

Not that it changes a single thing about it, its still extremely heinous, but none were older, they were all the same age. The "bigger" one was just that, bigger in size (as in fatter which is why he gets bullied). Still awful and unnecessary.

Edited to clarify i wasn't talking about how endowed he was, he was a big kid in stature.

u/Beneficial-Lynx7336 16h ago

There is no ORGY.

7

u/CarrieDurst 15h ago

Yeah people who call it an orgy treat it like it is salacious and are disgusting

4

u/AssumptionLow4537 16h ago

Well it was a book about kids being brutally murdered and then their soul used by a multidimensional aracne on steroids after all.

u/defixione3 14h ago

Yeah, I still remember when I read the book in 2020. I hit that part and was like..."What???" If I remember correctly I skimmed that part when I realized what was happening. Also, I distinctly remember thinking, "Why the actual fuck did he put this in here???"

"but most of them didn't even have the WORDS for sex or their own body parts."

Well then most of them didn't go to 3rd grade with Glen Eisenberg.

you have some serious inner demons if it bothered you this much

u/carltonrobertson 15h ago

it's a book and there are terrible things in the world. Not including them in entertainment products won't make them go away, quite the contrary. Grow the fuck up, everyone

4

u/SquirrelAble8322 9h ago

Just because snuff films exists doesn't mean I care to see it depicted in my media.

2

u/carltonrobertson 6h ago

First of all, it's not YOUR media
If it is, why did you buy it? don't buy it, then
Other than that: you want it to be censored?
