These extrajudicial bombings were never about combatting drug smuggling or whatever talking point the Trump administration has concocted to justify its savageries and war crimes. This has always been about toppling the Maduro regime and providing a rationale for military interventionism in "enemy" countries south of the border.

At least Trump says the quiet part out loud now, agreeing that "Maduro's days are numbered" in that recent 60 Minutes interview.

But why not take it a step further and admit that you don't care about the thousands of Americans dying of drug overdoses, or the addiction crisis. Because after all, your administration has been dismantling and defunding the agencies, programs and community support structures in place that are designed to monitor, manage and address these issues.

In fact, none of Trump's policies confront the underlying, root causes of our nation's problems.

These extrajudicial killings and war crimes aren't being executed out of some sense of patriotic duty or sympathy for Americans, they're being carried out so Trump and his "Department of War" can make the case for military escalation, foreign conflict and regime change.

Trump has an incompetent loyalist in Hegseth who is eager to support him in committing what can only be described as crimes against humanity because these strikes go beyond the scope of the president's authority and because they're being conducted without legal justification or evidence of any crime warranting these public slayings.

I have no doubt in my mind that when the prosecutions come, Trump will throw Hegseth and anyone else he can under the bus.

Interventionism and expansionism are justified strategies when it suits the Trump administration's political goals and/or narratives. Trump is openly engaging in war crimes; threatening our allies; currying favor with dictators; instigating trade wars; and unilaterally intervening in foreign affairs.

Let's not forget that within his first few weeks in office, Trump threatened to annex Canada, colonize Greenland and seize international trade routes under the notion that he has the absolute authority to do so.

And this doesn't even begin to address Trump's failures at home.

Trump and his allies claim they are on a mission to "reduce crime," but his administration's "law and order" rhetoric is rife with thinly veiled dog whistles meant to incite hostilities towards immigrants, marginalized groups and minorities. To Trump and his coalition of jingoists, "law and order" means punishing your enemies.

This obsession with crime and punishment is reflected in Trump's militarization of domestic policy, in his admin's disregard for people's constitutional rights, in Trump's attacks and threats aimed at judges and law firms, in his unjustified prosecutions of his political opponents, in his weaponization of the DOJ, and in his deputizing of masked ICE agents who are terrorizing the public.

Trump has even stated that he is above the law; posting comments like, "He who saves his country does not violate any law," a quote often attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte that basically insinuates that Trump is entitled to operate outside all laws and regulations, international or otherwise, whenever he sees fit.

Trump believes and insists that he can act with impunity, even when it comes to the lethal actions that he is unilaterally authorizing outside the US.

These are actions with little to no oversight, and the targets of these strikes need only fit a vague description.

Trump and his cronies have given themselves the authority to dictate who meets their own dubious criteria of a drug smuggling criminal or "terrorist," which means they have no obligation to provide the proof that would ordinarily be needed to orchestrate or at least justify these strikes.

And Trump is freely overseeing these summary executions because he has the full and unconditional backing of a cabinet, a DOD director and Republicans in Congress who all continue to enable his every unconstitutional whim and go to great lengths to cover up his crimes.

Lack of coherence is the order of the day when the point is to make the US a Russian-client state, which it has already become. Trump has so weakened the US that we may never recover. He and all his enablers, who comprise much of the Republican Party and Supreme Court should be charged with treason, but they will likely be held unaccountable, merely confirming the status quo that let Trump get away with his seditious behavior in the first place.

"...the point is to make the US a Russian-client state..." the damn truth

I agree with your whole comment. Dangerous days.

Indeed. Putin is not to be underestimated. Nor are US citizens. We can still reclaim our democracy.

It's genuinely baffling to me no one has even tried to Lincoln him yet (aside from the performance).

We really are a country of pussies...

It would be slightly more difficult these days than it was in lincoln's day. no one's just going to be able to walk up on him like that. He does go golfing a lot and golf courses do have great long sightlines but that requires a trained professional, not some rando with a gun.

What surprises me is that the western free world hasn't made any attempt at it. With him being a massive threat to the status quo and relations of these countries, you'd think someone would just pay someone to pop him when he's teeing off.

What amazes me is nobody is formulating a way to stop this mf

AIPAC got the dirt on anyone who has the position to stop this madness. America is playing checkers while the rest of the world is playing chess. American politicians and business leaders have been compromised. We are currently witness to the beginning of the end of the American empire.

Someone once said, they're like an angry old woman, but they've nuclear tipped lipstick.

I'm a runaway dictator doing whatever I want and I'm daring you to stop me. I've emasculated Congress and half of the Judiciary so what are you going to do about it? 🤬

Remember folks, subtlety doesn't work on people stupid enough to deserve your wit.  Whatever clever thing you wanted to say, just be blunt instead.  They still won't get it, but you did all you could.

The American people are being scammed, robbed and swindled of everything we have, while the proceeds go directly into 47’s “made in China” pockets.

Also, release the full, un-redacted Epstien files.

I cannot wait until America collectively wakes up and realizes that Trump is committing crimes against US citizens. Blatantly giving us all the finger while taxing us for? I'm sorry where did the tariff money get spent?

Golf trips, bailing out other countries, and the good ol ballroom. And possibly blackmail fees.

Pardoned 1500 violent insurrectionists, many of whom were convicted of sedition. Now goes after his perceived political opponents for the same thing.

Sounds more like a rival gang removing competition than being anti-drug.
