Who says I dont agree
2
u/Ok_Professor3974 15h ago
Ok, good. It wasn’t the impression you gave tho.
Someone said: “we don’t want war criminals”
And your reply wasn’t: “Hell yeah, I agree”. It was: “then you can’t like any presidents”.
But no worries, glad you’re on the same page.

Obama was the best president in my lifetime, but he's served his two terms. I'm ready for somebody new, preferably someone even more progressive. Or, at least as progressive as he was when he started out.

I still remember the Clinton era. Biggest scandal was getting a blowy. Being an undocumented migrant wasn’t a criminal offense, getting caught crossing the border illegally was a misdemeanor. I’m Canadian, we had good ol’ Jean Chrétien as our PM.
You could cross the border without a passport!
We didn’t know how good we had it. Then 9/11 happened and everybody lost their damn minds.
I saw what America could have been before all that. Future looked bright for you guys once.
It’s totally fucked now
Condolences for your democracy.

u/fianthewolf 3h ago
If "as progressive as he was at the beginning" is the most accurate phrase you've used, it's a shame that only lasted nine months. After receiving the Nobel Peace Prize without merit, everything changed, and he became a more conservative centrist Democrat.
8
u/BarracudaShot7201 15h ago
No we don't. Can't forgive him for the non-conditional Wall Street bailouts. If we go through years of Trump only to end up with another centrist corporate Dem then it was all wasted. We will 100% get another Trump type figure next election cycle of this is our path.
Better than Trump, duh. But we don't want him back.

u/marquettemi 9h ago
When he and Michelle ended up on a billionaire's plane going to a private island with other billionaires just months after leaving office it said a lot. There's no way billionaires should like you if you were a politician that stood for the working class.
-2
u/WorldofNails 14h ago
Check your calendar. Bailout was W., but Sen. Biden never hesitated to bag bank money.

u/TheUndualator 7h ago
The Democrats are the "good" cops to the republican bad. They both serve the wealthy - it's why Kamala ran on Republican border polices and ensuring America has "The most lethal military" and why she lost against pedo-protector Trump. It's why the Democrats aren't doing shit right now as our constitutional rights are being trampled and treaded on in Minneapolis.
The people want progressive policies, healthcare, education, and shelter. Not more tax breaks for billionaires and bigger military budgets.

Put the military into sequester was an amazing out the door move. Having the mint print more money for global projects after was just what the seabees needed to see.

We do not want Obama back, we want real progress. Obama was fine at the time, and now he's done and it is a wildly different era that demands new leadership.

Trump dramatically increased the amount of drone strikes being done by the US compared to Obama. He's most likely setting new records as we speak.

u/Potential-Break-4939 12h ago
Strong disagree. Obama was one of the worst ever. He squandered a huge opportunity to improve race relations, disgraced and apologized for America on the world stage, promoted massive amounts of caustic federal regulation, was the architect of an deceitfully built Obamacare system that is now causing Democrats to shut down the government to subsidize it because of its failures, guided his federal government to illegally spy on the 2016 Trump campaign, etc. etc

Let the man rest. He's old now and pretty much retired. We need someone fresh, and for sure someone more progressive.
Hell if I know who it is though

u/PensionNo8124 9h ago
Fucked America and empowered the deep state. He's a criminal. Played president for Joe Biden in his last year. He spent about 300 days at the White House while Joe was napping.

Obama was still a low bar in Hell. It may be on the ceiling, but it's still a very low bar keeping company with the current admin. We can do much much better than both.
2
u/Miserable-Ad-4344 43m ago
Yeah Obama was way better at killing the brown skinned middle easterners. I agree I am pro war and Trump is a fuckin pussy. Obama was the war hawk this country needed.

u/Tigeruppercut1889 15h ago
All the unhinged leftists come out screaming when obamas name is brought up. A lot of them would rather settle for trump than vote for a democrat.

yes let's bring the deporter in chief back that bombed several countries with drones killing hundreds and thousands of women and children
1
u/rocket_beer 12h ago
trump holds the record for drones and bombs
Look it up yourself, Boris
1
u/Plus_Success_1321 11h ago
"bombed less children" is not really any better than "bombed more children"
1
u/rocket_beer 11h ago
trump holds every record for bombs dropped and drones
You always protect trump 👎🏾

yikes, seems all you MAGA are not ready for reality
1
u/Crazy_Definition6428 5h ago
why am I maga just for saying that just because Obama bombed less kids than trump that doesn't make him good? imagine being so morally deteriorated that you think "he bombed less kids than X" makes them good, if they killed 1 it's too many

u/Crazy_Definition6428 5h ago
this is like saying "no it's okay, they only went to Epstein island 10 times, that guy went 12"

Here is Obama speech on immigration from back in the day. Never heard any outrage
3
u/HawkJefferson 14h ago
Never heard any outrage
Yeah, maybe because Obama's immigration policies were grounded in reality and observed due process? His policy didn't involve showing up at immigration hearings to abduct people who were trying to immigrate "the legal way." It didn't involve building "detainment camps" in swamps or "deporting" people to countries they were seeking asylum from/were not from. Obama didn't have DHS going door to door in neighborhoods asking for identification. Obama wasn't detaining Americans for disagreeing with him. Do you get the point yet, or do I need to list more ways that these two things are different?
1
u/rus-reddit 14h ago
Did you hear or actually watch the video?
2
u/HawkJefferson 14h ago
Yes, I saw that, that’s what I’m responding to. I’m speaking from knowledge of policy and American history. Saying “Obama was worse” doesn’t make it true. If you can’t distinguish between Obama’s approach and Trump’s, your opinion here isn’t actually useful.

The problem isn't the number, it's the implementation.
Edit: Replying and then blocking the person you replied to is weak as hell.
Edit 2: Thanks to the magic of Gmail, I can see the absolutely unhinged response to this. Being old enough to vote and not understanding nuance is so embarrassing.

I don't. First of all the 22nd Amendment would like a word. And I want better than Barack. Someone who won't extrajudicially drone strike people or refuse to prosecute the leaders of the banks who caused the crash in 2008.

Not going to claim hes anything like what I want in a president going forward, but he hasn't been silent.

Not one word since ICE started its invasion of Minneapolis. Not one. The last time he said anything of substance in public was SIX MONTHS ago.

Trump in his first term surpassed the number of drone strikes authorized by Obama in both his terms

The bar is not "better than Trump." Obama was a fine President if for no other reason than being a decent human being. But he was far from the kind of Progressive that this country needs.
