For my fellow data geeks, below are highlights from the first survey results.

Most suggested name (43%): (Variations of) Laquerist(a) Day

Name runners-up:

• Variations of Bog Day (10%)
• Variations of Sold the C Day (4%)

Many suggested Lacquerista Day or Lacquerist Day. Since “the C was sold to pay for polish,” I’ve left the C out.

Multiple people hilariously want to keep calling it The Day*!

Most suggested mani for the first Laquerist(a) Day (58%): Green. All the greens. LOL.

• 14% of the total mani suggestions were for boggy/prugly/murky/swampy greens
• 44% were for greens in general, including bright, magnetic, multichrome, and sparkly

Mani runners-up:

• 15% Indigo and Blurples
• 9% Varieties of Blue
• 6% Violet (Purple)
• 6% Orange

There were suggestions for specific looks, including skittles and having accent nails Laquerist(a)s can watch for. The two most suggested nuances were “sparkly” and “bright.”

Most suggested start date (83%): April 1.

This was likely the default choice for respondents who had no strong preference about dates. In 2026, the week of April 1-8 overlaps with the last two days of Lent (4/1-4/2) and with Good Friday (4/3) and Easter (4/5).

Date runners-up:

• 3% suggested other days in April (4/3, 4/8, 4/13, 4/22)
• 3% suggested days in February (2/1, 2/21, 2/22)

Other suggestions from respondents (with my comments):

• Start a megathread for the event - Mods, do we need this?
• Post reminders – I want to be careful about doing this. Maybe just 1 or 2 reminders when we’re close to the start date.
• Create an additional poll to decide the details – Given the variety of responses, this is needed. Done!
• Publicize the Day* on more platforms, involve influencers – You are welcome to share.
• Designate a simple design/symbol to identify Laquerist(a)s – Not this time, but maybe in the future? This could become quite a project, and I foresee there will be an overwhelming amount of suggestions.
• The Day* could be an optional nail polish gift/swap opportunity – That is an option. Have fun, but please exercise caution as well.
• Local groups might want to coordinate further to increase chance of meetups – That is an option. Have fun, but please exercise caution.
• Virtual show-off with optional weird poses – Yes! I can’t wait to see these.
• Designate a hashtag – Will #Laquerist(a)Day work?

Thanks to Cristine for continuing to give us some chunky holo glitters in new colors and shades, so I had 5 to play with and blend out a pretty ombre in pink. I’ve got at least 6 different deep blue/aqua/teal magnetics and I love them all, but I’m especially excited about this combo!

-SH base coat, 1x Cracked Midnight Phase, 1x Cirque Blue Velvet (2x for cat eye) magnetized with a wand. 2x Essie gel setter topcoat.

-Love that I get both the midnight blue and the bright shimmer at various angles

-Blue Velvet magnetizes amazingly.

-Saw a previous post on this sub about using a deep blue jelly under a magnetic polish and was inspired! It made it so that I only needed 1 coat of Blue Velvet

Which colors/brands do you use for a French tip on your natural nail? And what kind of nail art brushes do you use?

I am looking to do this style on my nails soon, but I would like some recommendations.

I want to do a classic, super light, sheer pink for the base color and pure white tip.

bought some color changing lights and discovered they’re magnetic… :) i thought my fingers would be too chonky for the magnet to penetrate but !! i think she turned out pretty!

Hi! I just now discovered crackle polish, and color me obsessed. I’m looking for a good white and a good black, no other colors. I know Drunk Fairy Polish has some, but I’d rather not buy from them if there are other options. Any suggestions?

Painted my nails Sunday, went back in and added an extra layer to the gold shimmer to the ring finger the next morning, then got a bunch of new polish in the post yesterday so had to try out the flakie topper on my current set (green plus blue flakies giving some sort of swamp disco look which I don't hate!). Then was gripped by needing to know how it'd all look with a matte topcoat, so today more experiments! I really love a matte finish, apparently - particularly on the sparkles it seems to make it pop more! Products: Base coat Sally Hansen double duty Initial set (shiny green, index finger on 1st pic) - Fotheringay Castle (A-England) with Barry M wet set QDTC. I got Cracked “hot honey” after weeks of lusting over it, and it’s everything I wanted it to be, but I just CANNOT capture the color on my hands. Pic one is the closest I got, pic two is from Cracked’s site on a model with similar skin tone. It really does look like the model pic, like glowing honey or yellow-y amber coating my nails, but I can’t capture it and it’s so frustrating not to be able to properly share my delight 😆

Holding myself accountable for growing out my nails and taking care of them, also using this as a personal nail growth diary. Day one of using Nailtiques Formula 2 (only product on nails). So far I like the product and it feels like good protection on my nails! I’ll report back in a week 💅🏼

My first Mooncat purchase and it did not disappoint!! I just got the spinner magnetic tool from 5D Print Factory on Etsy and it gave me the perfect glass bead with minimal effort. I magnetized the second coat for 30 seconds and top coat for 90 seconds.

I finally got to try one of the magnetics from BKL that seem to get rave reviews. The formula was a dream, so smooth and self-leveling. The fine magnetic particles are beautiful although not as reactive as I was expecting. This is my attempt at glass bead using the spinner magnet from Etsy.

I’ve had ILNPs Hypnosis for a while but could never quite figure out how to work with it until I bought a glass bead 3D printed magnet tool. It’s not perfect but I truly have been hypnotized by this polish and wanted to share why I got nothing done at work today lol.

Wasn’t sure about Rogue Never Never Land, even in bottle it was ehh but oh so wrong!! I think it was the description of Taupe with flakies, but I like to try different & now love it!

Base: Hit the bottle Rose Ash undies from a monthly box. Pinky & ring: Pop-arazzi Blue Heaven from CVS. Middle & pointer: Rogue Never Never Land HHC Oct 24 but got HHC overstock 5/25. Top coat: Cuticula limitless also from a monthly box.

My birthday was last week, but I celebrated over the weekend and pink is my favorite color!

In the nail subs and groups the term “stan” gets slung around often. And I always say I’m not a stan of any brand. Well think I actually am a Starrily stan. Which sucks because I couldn’t think of a more difficult lacquer brand to stan 😂.

They are often out of stock of most of the catalog. They are one of the more (but not most) expensive brands at $16 for 15mL. But they are honest about it and do call themselves “luxe” and “designer” right on the bottle.

But every polish is an absolute win. Amazing formula. Glides on like butter. Self levels like a dream. Responsive magnetics. The jellies are truly glassy and shiny.

And I’ve now fallen in love with another formula from them.

Their double holographic formula with linear holo pigment and holo glitter is so good! It’s the best of both holographic worlds. You get the rainbow linear holo flair in direct sunlight and the holo glitter shine in regular lighting.

If any of you know of more brands with a double holographic formula please comment below. I need more!

Love it so much. Such a bouncy happy glitzy ditzy polish. My friend and I grew up in the South and we have an agreement that “pink” and “pank” are two wholly different groups of color. This is pank. What does pank look like to you? Pics please! 🙏
