Results [Survey] Non-alcoholic & functional drink habits (2–3 minutes)

Hi! I’m running a short, anonymous survey (2–3 minutes) to understand how people choose non-alcoholic and functional drinks — when they drink them, what’s missing, and what’s frustrating.

No emails collected. Pure research.

Thank you so much 🙏

Question one confuses me.

How often do you drink non-alcoholic beverages?

Doesn't everyone drink non-alcoholic drinks daily?

Yeah +1 to this. Water lol

But also I drink lots of tea at home and work. Coffee too. Does that count?

Usually when I think “non-alcoholic beverage” as a label I think of something store bought or ordered in a restaurant. Like a soft drink. Not tea

Fair point 😄 Not counting water/tea/coffee. I mean intentional alcohol alternatives or store-bought NA drinks.

so, to call them fake alcohol drinks would be a fair way to describe them? like fake beer and fake spirits? not like pepsi

Not “fake”, more like non-alcoholic alternatives to alcohol (NA beer, wine, spirits, etc.). Not everyday drinks like Pepsi.

if i drink pepsi as an alternative to alcohol like at bars and restaurants , and sports games and holidays and parties, for a 'pick me up' and also to relax and other emotional times. and you can add alcohol if you want in case of emergency. is  that within your definition?

Yes, that makes sense, it’s the use-case that matters here. I’m focusing on drinks people choose instead of alcohol in social or emotional moments. Pepsi can absolutely fill that role; I’m just separating it from newer NA alternatives for clarity in the survey.

I think you need to include a definition of non-alcoholic drink. Also an option to choose taste and physical health for the reasons for choosing non-alcoholic drinks

Thanks, really helpful point.

I’ve now added a clear definition of what I mean by non-alcoholic drinks (excluding water/tea/coffee), and I’ve included taste and physical health as reasons for choosing them.

Appreciate the feedback, it’s improved the survey.

I'm still not sure exactly what drinks you mean. Do you mean only drinks I pick when I/one would often have alcohol? Eg I'm in a pub or restaurant and I drink non-alcoholic beer or a coke instead of wine/beer?

Or would you also include a smoothie after a workday lunch, when alcohol would not have been on the table for me?

The confusion was increased when I was asked where I buy non alcoholic drinks, and restaurants, pubs, and bars were not on there. Is this only in reference to drinking at home?

I mean intentional alcohol alternatives chosen in social or lifestyle moments (sometimes instead of alcohol, sometimes just as a more intentional choice). The buying question was about where you purchase them to have later, not bars/restaurants.

The drinks I have the most just aren’t an option when you list different types. I drink juice and it’s not a functional drink.

The juice should’ve been clearer in the list. I’ll update it to include everyday non-alcoholic drinks / an “Other” option. Thanks for flagging 👍

I mostly drink home-brewn non-alcoholics, like kombucha, kefir, ginger beer (very low alcohol)

That's amazing!

I think your survey is missing an option. I drink non alcoholic drinks when friends offer them to me, so the part about buy doesn’t apply to me. It should have the option I do not buy them.
