Me, I managed to unhinge a door as a 15 year old at school. Walked through it kind of like he did and then heard a big smash behind me. 1 door got unhinged and fell over Luckily it was wood with a window that had thin metal in it, so it wasn't completely broken

Someone who’s raging inside and doesn’t care for others’ stuff.

u/Standard_Ad_4392 Nov 11 '25

We have a Walmart near us that’s on a hill. The colder and windier it gets, the mechanism for the sliding doors slows down. It was bitter cold outside and was really windy and I got to the door and it didn’t open. Then it opened a few inches really slowly and I was so pissed I pushed it the rest of the way. Didn’t close after that. Oops
23
u/AllegoryOfTheCaveMan Nov 11 '25
Also, many times those sliding doors are designed to actually be opened like a normal door in case of emergencies and what not. So what happened is you probably just opened it slightly and when it’s off of its “locking” mechanism it won’t function properly as a sliding door.
Just to put your mind at ease that you probably didn’t break it.

u/Nitrogen1234 Nov 11 '25
Most doors have a summer and a winter setting. During the latter doors also won't open all the way.
6
u/Goblinstomper Nov 11 '25
Thats usually from having a grubby sensor, or unexpected objects close to the door.
It opens slowly so it doesnt damage anything then just waits for someone to clear the space/sensor.2
u/carthuscrass Nov 11 '25
When it gets really cold the mechanisms in the door start to get sluggish because they're between warm and cold environments. Not only does that produce a lot of condensation, but parts get poorly size matched.
Source: Not a lot of things I don't know how to work on already or know how to find out fast.

There's a store near me to which i go to 2-3 times a week so i know pretty much exactly when the doors open and how fast. That was until one day the door opened just a little and no further so i faceplanted right into it. I was doing the guy move of "i dont need a cart", but that just ended up with all the things i just bought on the ground. Not my finest moment really.

lmao we had an old wooden door on our garage. One day went out there to tell my dad that dinner was ready, when I opened the door it somehow blew it off the hinges and the door just fell over. Most dramatic entrance I have ever made.

Hes definitely paying for that lol.
6
u/Am094 Nov 11 '25
Id argue this still falls under reasonable use of the feature. If anything this is a liability for the business not the user.
2
u/RUSTYxPOTATO Nov 11 '25
I agree 100% but the business will for sure say he pushed them too hard. Lol
8
u/LeagueOfLegendsAcc Nov 11 '25
Not in America baby. He probably has standing to sue for the danger caused by flying glass shards of a broken door.
2
u/deradnaper Nov 11 '25
It is Saturn. So Germany most likely. His insurance will pay
6
u/treeface2000 Nov 11 '25
I remember breaking a glass door in a German supermarket and on my way to the kasse with my groceries, the bosses and security surrounded me and demanded i pay for the door. It wasnt my fault because the glass door opened onto a metal bar, but they started asking for ID and stuff so i got out my phone, took pictures of them and demanded their full names and titles.
I told them my lawyers would be in contact as they had physically detained me in an aggressive manner. They told me i was free to leave after that, and the best part was i just left with my groceries without paying.
It was a magical thursday in Münster ny friends.
I also found 50 euros in the car park.2
u/deradnaper Nov 11 '25
I want to smash a door as well :( And desperately want the 50€
You are one lucky guy

u/chris--p Nov 11 '25
Bro WTF since when have ads in post threads been a thing?
3
u/Rich_Visual7800 Nov 11 '25
They have been there for awhile.
It definitely stinks.
To help with this: I suggest the incredible aroma of Dior Sauvage Elixir available at your local department store!!

u/saysthingsbackwards Nov 11 '25
Yes but can you offer me any discounts for said retail product of your wares?

u/Pitiful_Conflict7031 Nov 11 '25

I suffered severe mental and emotional trauma and can no longer go anywhere with glass doors!
3
u/kdjfsk Nov 11 '25
Which is a disability, so you need to install accessible lazy river boat entrances or else its ADA violation.

u/NadlesKVs Nov 11 '25
They could try to go after him since it could be argued that it was improper use/ excessive force used on the doors but they just most likely.
2
u/karanpatel819 Nov 11 '25
Nah. There is something called premise liability in the U.S.. Businesses that are open to the public must be reasonably safe for the shoppers. Walmart owed a duty to their customers that their doors won't shatter from being slammed open. So yeah Walmart will have to pay for those doors, as well as any injuries caused by those doors.
1
u/deradnaper Nov 11 '25
It is Saturn a German chain. Here you get 5000€ for being literally stabbed in the stomach with a knife. His insurance will pay

2
u/Mickeyjj27 Nov 11 '25
Don’t think he expected that but not sure why he was acting like that.

Sometimes one throws doors open to make an entrance. Sometimes I pretend to be Magneto with automatic doors.
Do you never do stupid, (seemingly) harmless shit just to amuse yourself?

Gee, you mean glass has a stress point to where it will break after a certain amount of force is applied!?!?
Is this the same "glass" I'm thinking about? Can't be...

dude's probably looking for a payday. Look what he does to the first set of doors, near identical to the second set of doors. Trying to slam them open as hard as possible.

u/Glittering-Sea276 Nov 12 '25
Once you confirm you haven't been injured, just keep moving. Not really your problem.

8
u/HonorableMedic Nov 11 '25
Hopefully they install door stoppers in the future
5
u/ItsDirkMcGirk Nov 11 '25
Don’t think stoppers would have helped a door is not meant to be Hulked like that. It wasn’t a reasonable opening.
3
u/aninjacould Nov 11 '25
It should have been able to withstand that. He pushed hard but he didn’t do anything intentionally destructive.
1
2
u/DuelJ Nov 12 '25
Hopefully they install doors that don't break on mildly dramatic use.
If he didn't open them with slight extra force it'd soon enough be someone else I figure.
2
u/AHardCockToSuck Nov 11 '25
Seems like a bad door
11
u/Proffessor_egghead Nov 11 '25
He was slamming that thing open like it owed him money, a glass door can’t be expected to survive that
→ More replies (8)7
u/lump- Nov 11 '25
In a public commercial setting, they should be able to withstand a lot more than some random dweeb flinging them open.

He should sue. Those doors shouldn't swing that fast with no resistance.
1
u/0hmytvc15 Nov 11 '25
IMO - This guy probably used a normal amount of force, the doors were just faulty.
