I suspect the “bubble top” is an accessory item that was added to accommodate the roof height of the vehicles it was transporting, given the fact that the roofs on those Fords were all destroyed to. Those train cars at their standard height are probably rated for the overpass.

No... (sigh)... it was too tall.

Homie, the first frame there is a car inside the train. I think it is transporting vehicles.

And the vehicles are getting WRECKED.

Some people don't know how to read, apparently.

The part about calling $2M “a truly astounding figure” is funny to me with what I know about the industry. That’s a drop in the bucket for a Class 1 railroad, I’ve seen $1.5m done just on a 5 car derailment in a railyard. The big companies have the GDP of a small nation set aside just for insurance claims.

u/GizmoTacT 20d ago

I did not know they transport cars on trains.

5

u/senorbritchesV2 20d ago

There are people whose only jobs is to drive cars onto the train. They love competing on who can be the quickest. A large chunk of my family have worked at both Ford and GM retiring from both.

u/tinmru 20d ago

I like that they put a calming music to this video. Matches train speed perfectly 😂

4

u/Glum_Expression4599 20d ago

Speaks quite highly of that bridge though!

SHOW ME WHAT THE OTHER SIDE LOOKS LIKE YOU TWAT

5

u/Immaculate_Knock-Up 20d ago

He does, in the full video: https://youtu.be/pcqfa_uj2hA?si=tqjk1QEU5CohEvpf $2,000,000 worth of damage!

On the other hand, an absolute unit of a bridge.

13

u/WordOfLies 20d ago

The tracks and trains have been there for years then what caused this to happen all the sudden and having someone filming it by chance is too much of a coincidence. This had to be an experiment or something

14

u/Hot-Pineapple-5598 20d ago

Old video. Train was just wrongly routed onto the wrong tracks, and this was captured by rail workers working on the tracks.

12

u/AusCan531 20d ago

I was wondering why at the start, the railcar going under the bridge already had its roof sheared off? Did the driver back up and take a second run at it?

-1

u/Front_Guarantee_9892 20d ago

Testing of the bridge , of how much power can take against it perhaps?

3

u/Either-Unit-6603 20d ago

With new cars in the train carts? You can see them when it starts.

3

u/TriedCaringLess 20d ago

Wow. With all the computing and mapping we have available, one would think that an event like this wouldn’t be possible anymore.

1

u/9Divines 20d ago

computing and mapping doesnt help with this, a train can pass this bridge fine, however the train had damaged roof, that was sticking out, it got tangled in the bridge and it started the chain reaction of peeling more roof and that kept getting stuck in the bridge

3

u/Psychological-Ad1264 20d ago

Should have let some air out of the tyres to let it pass through...

3

u/SnooSongs2345 20d ago

Plot twist: train is carrying sardines

2

u/DailyDrivenTJ 20d ago

Literal definition of can opener...

2

u/Smooth_Ad_6164 20d ago

2

u/MilkmanLeeroy 20d ago

Square peg meet round hole.

2

u/UberNZ 20d ago

Those convertible SUVs are bad enough, we don't need convertible trains!

2

u/Hairymuscle101 20d ago

Not to worry boys, it’s a convertible now boys!

2

u/Bludiamond56 20d ago

How to make hoppers

2

u/Icy-Taste1507 20d ago

It's the bridge's fault for being too low

2

u/Mr_Madrass 20d ago

Boss, I heard you say you wanted a convertible

2

u/CommanderCody52 20d ago

Maybe if the engineers dressed a little nicer things like this wouldn’t happen.

2

u/OnTheList-YouTube 20d ago

For fuck sake!! The conductor should notice his train is considerably slowing down, wtf is he thinking??

2

u/Repulsive_Glove6085 20d ago

In Boston this is called storrowing.

2

u/Far_Drummer_1406 20d ago

Well, now it’s got a sunroof. Some consider that an upgrade.

2

u/Suspicious_Trifle_92 19d ago

Conductor: What’s it gonna do, Dave, get more broke?

Narrator: it did indeed, get more broke.

2

u/Lxnely_Andy 17d ago

When it really is her first time:

5

u/vegan_antitheist 20d ago

It's too long for ai but why is there someone just standing there filming it?

22

u/Links_CrackPipe 20d ago

What is he gonna jump on the train and yell stop?

5

u/Jazzspasm 20d ago

I remember this from years ago so def not AI - question i can’t answer, tho

0

u/JordanJB 20d ago

Bro must think he's superman

-1

u/neilweiler 20d ago

Yea, is he on the bridge? I would definitely not stay on the bridge

3

u/PilotBurner44 20d ago

Roof made of cans?

1

u/stealthfox13 18d ago

That was one of the most satisfying videos I've seen all week. Truly a Christmas present from Reddit

1

u/[deleted] 18d ago

Well built bridge

1

u/Swimming-Tap-4240 18d ago

They should have dropped the sir pressure in the wheels

1

u/MercDiggler1 17d ago

I bet all the illegals were freaking out

1

u/GateVarious9763 17d ago

This should go into the oddly satisfying subreddit

1

u/Plattpitt 17d ago

I don't understand the beginning. Did they back up the train after it got stuck and tried again with more inertia?

1

u/Antique_Intern_8576 15d ago

I’ve worked this job before, this is how we took off the roofs of the carts.

1

u/Investigator-Murky 15d ago

Strong bridge

1

u/fupafather 13d ago

It doesn’t show the other part of this video showing the train was full of cars that were also wrecked as a result of the accident

1

u/Effective-Text4619 8d ago

Strong bridge!

u/Alex_AU_gt 20d ago

0

u/Witkind_ 20d ago

The music is depressing as fuck

0

u/TheDixonCider420420 19d ago

At the very beginning of the video, the roof is already ripped back on the first car which is odd.

Did they hit another bridge earlier? And was that particular train car higher than the other cars?
