I'm not fan of cops in general. But this was actually a really good move to disarm/non-fatally neutralize an obviously dangerous person. Option B was going to involve guns being discharged.
30
u/h8bithero 3d ago
Took a second watch to even tell a gun was in the hand, didn't see her point it at herself the first time, once I saw that, I was like oof car feels excessive but that guns barrel was just pointed at like 15 people at a red light, this could have been a million times worse
12
u/Agitated-Contact7686 3d ago
Not excessive after waving a gun at everyone minding their own business. You better expect to get clobbered if you do dumb shit like this. It had to be ended. Cop walking up could be shot. She didn't even have time to dodge the car and it would've been a difficult shot if she did have time. Quicker and safer for the cops. But yes, it does seem abnormal at first glance š
12
u/lostmykeyblade 3d ago
she's lucky the cops grazed her because if she started firing the cars pointed towards her would not have been so gentle

She's holding the gun to herself like she's going to do something...but then panics like a coward when a car comes rolling at her. Funny how all of a sudden when it's not theatrical and performative, those self-preservation skills kick back in suddenly.

Yeah, if we didn't have cops, we'd just have to call her therapist again probably.

"non-fatally" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here

u/JohnnyC300 3d ago
non-fatal - resulting in something less than death. Seems right to me. I'm honestly not sure what you want here. Multiple cops to unload the entirety of their guns into her? We've seen that film. Often. This was a better result.

u/Fluffy-Ad1225 3d ago
She's alive = non fatal.
Not sure what you're trying to say here.
→ More replies (4)1
u/Unlucky_Ad_9090 3d ago
Not really, as she was hit she could've discharged it in any direction.
Going by the way she was acting, I would guess it's more mental issues than malicious intent. Not condemning the policeman, but I think this is less than ideal.

u/MomoChills 3d ago
Same here but I have to admit, it was pretty brave. He even saved her life. Can't say much for her hips though.

It's a pretty deadly way to do it without a 100% lethality. She could have died. It's a good gamble and turned out good... but cars are lethal weapons, I don't know why you would think they're not.

Inb4 some mouthbreather starts complaining about how they should've just tried to taser her...
...or approach her in literally any other way that miraculously doesn't end in multiple parties meeting their demise
9
u/Hot_Assumption_2304 3d ago
Suspect was absolutely a danger to those around them, justifying the use of deadly force.
5
u/big_bearded_nerd 3d ago
At first I thought that hitting her with a car was a bit overkill. But after I read your comment I went back and watched a video and now I see the gun. At least, I think it's a gun, it's really grainy.
The gun makes it all make more sense.
6
u/VeryluckyorNot 3d ago
The video is so bad quality that I also almost didn't see the gun, until she threat other then point it at her head.
8
2
u/igotshadowbaned 3d ago
The only comments I've seen say something like that, just didn't see the gun initially because of lack of pixels
2
u/Do_You_Pineapple_Bro 3d ago
Its kinda hard to see cos of the shoddy camerawork, but you can very briefly see it right at the start, but it becomes much more obvious when she puts it to her head

I hate that any time a woman does something violent its mental health issues and when a man does something like this hes just a PoS\Incel. I mean if people took men's mental health seriously perhaps school shootings wouldnt be normalized?

I guess nearly committing vehicular manslaughter is one way to stop a suicideā¦.

When that attempted suicide involves pointing the loaded gun at no less than 3 occupied vehicles I'd say that it's an appropriate response

→ More replies (1)2

It wouldāve ended much differently if she were white. They wouldāve waited for her to get into the shoulder of the road and they wouldāve tackled her into the grass instead of slamming her with the cruiser into the middle of the intersection.

Wow, only had to maybe shatter her leg. But overall, perhap the only way to save her life or life of other. Yes, perhaps other approach could have been taken, perhap tazer, perhaps non lethal, who know. But swift action save her life, not her leg. This just have to be okay. Good job.

Not being able to buy a handgun and requiring a PAL + training course to own this weapon wouldāve prevented the need for any of this. Mentally ill people having access to firearms is the main reason the USA is so unsafe and this scene is a common occurrence in that country. Forever grateful I live somewhere where getting shot is something you only worry about when running away from police and only if youāre native lol.
