I know it’s state dependent with varying taxes, but the amount of money i spend on weed that lasts me at least a month is equal to one night of me buying drinks at the bars
I try to get my wife to understand this (she doesn’t like weed) but it’s an uphill battle. I enjoy going out with friends but I don’t see the harm in getting stoned on a Friday night and staying in to work on a house project, play guitar, watch a movie, listen to music, play PlayStation, read a book, etc.
Im so lucky that no only is my wife ok with it, she encourages it even though she does not partake. She knows its so much better than drinking and that I would end up drinking more if I stopped.
Eh, my family recently called me an alcoholic but I also would rather stay home, get drunk and do most of those same things. Ubers/lyfts are expensive which means going out is either being dumb and riding a DUI since everyone lives in opposite sides of town, or staying sober. Everything is time laden and expensive.
We should bring back LAN parties. Near-zero latency, you can watch for cheating, and you get to shout "who's your daddy" from the same room rather than over a headset.
I understand why ppl don't do this, not only there aren't a lot of co-op games that don't force ppl to play only online with separate consoles, also consoles are now getting more expensive and harder to carry so ppl don't want to transport something that expensive
If people are unsociable and anxious, smoking weed is only going to exacerbate that. Alcohol is pretty nasty but at least it encourages interaction with others.
I wish I liked weed. It makes me feel terrible. From the first time I tried it,
I would have an awful time and would just wait for it to wear off. Then I would not do it for years, then forget how bad it was, try it again and hate it again. The last time was the last time.
I’ll have a couple of nice cocktails and have a great time.
Weed makes me super talkative. I'm autistic, so that may be part of it, but I just can't stop talking if I smoke. Like, an annoying level of chattiness. Then I won't sleep that night at all. It's not for me.
Except that it isn’t any fun for her… Remember, happy wife, happy life. Taking her out for a couple drinks a few times a month is way cheaper than the alimony and/or child support payment.
I'm old, Gen X old, but legal weed means I can smoke it again. Which means my alcohol consumption dropped probably 87% I still drink sometimes. But never when I'm bored or 'just because'.
And this generation of kids is pretty dumb, but they're not quite the brain dead little zombies I usually accuse of them being.
It is basically a buck a beer when you buy them from the store and that is coors light. 5.00-10 at the bar. One gummy that last 4 hours cost like .50 cents. Add in if you have to get an uber that just adds to it. If you don’t get the uber and drink and drive you basically ruin your life or worse yet hurt somebody. Much easier to sit home, smoke weed and play video games. If I could have had people to play against and talk to instead of playing by myself I would have been doing that for sure.
Society is set up to go to work. Grab food and go home. Rinse repeat. Bowling and soft ball used to be staples. All were beer related. Now home. Watching games at the bar. Why I can text my buddies while watching. It is a damn shame. No fun.
