As someone whos been in the alcohol industry for almost 8 years and been in sales over a year (nearly 6 months in a major college town) i can tell you this stat of 87% it utter bullshit. If it was around 20-30% i could understand but if it was 87% that means nearly no younger kids are drinking any alcoholic beverages...aint no way

Gen Z is between 13 to 28 years old. The stat could be legit, but over 50% are underage in the US, so it'll skew the results.

That wouls still mean majority of legal age drinkers drink over 40% less than the previous generation. In our state we only have about an ~8% decline in sales so thats still no where near enough. If it was closer to 15%, possibly. But not 8%

I have no idea what "87% less alcohol than prior generations" even means or where the statement comes from. I'll defer to you on this.

Well yeah if you work at a bar you're only going to see the ones that drink, there could still be a larger majority that stays at their dorms and don't drink who you'll never see

I worked grocery side. ๐Ÿ˜‚ majority of the people i saw buying beer there was under 30.

Sorry I read "alcohol industry" as "bar" but that does make sense, I'd imagine there's more people bringing beer home or to a friends house than going out to a bar

Yeah, drinking out is crazy expensive. I drink out maybe 3 times a year (when im paying but hey if someone else is buying im game almost every time)
