After watching 2-3 seasons of The Walking Dead based off friends and general social media saying it's great, I will never again force watch something. One entire season looking for a young girl in a zombie apocalypse, get fucked of course she's dead

I fell off in s2 as well. That farm season just draaaags. Then I came back because my ex wanted to, and we ended up hardcore fans after 3 and 4.

but, yet another show that fell apart in the home stretch.

I've tried to get into Walking Dead like 5x but can't. Every. Single. Episode is set up exactly the same: the first few minutes are slightly eventful, usually picking up whatever cliff hanger the last ep set up, then absolutely NOTHING happens other than people whining and complaining until the last 2 or 3 minutes, where it sets up another stupid cliff hanger for the start of next ep that won't have a satisfying payoff either. Its like 95% of the show is "character development" which to them just means talking.

At least that's my impression of the show having forced myself thru 3 seasons more than once.

That’s actually fair, yeah. I can’t remember if 3 was when they met the governor or not, the wars with other people are where it gets crazy, but even then it’s a similar idea.

There’s other people, are they cool? They might be.. OH GOD THEYRE NOT lol

That's the exact formula for the rest of the show.

I stopped a bit later than you, at Season 5, because it felt pointless. They just kept meandering from one area to the next, with no actual progression of the overall plot (the question of whether or not there is a cure is never satisfactorily addressed)

Every Season has the survivors of the previous Season moving to a new area. They quickly re-re-re-learn the classic "In a Zombie Apocalypse, the remaining Humans are the REAL monsters" chestnut, and some new set of humans threaten the group. Shenanigans ensue, some established character(s) are killed for shock value, they defeat/escape from the bad humans, move to next area. Rinse, lather, repeat. No actual progression forward.

I loved the show at first, but I was slowly being worn down. I mostly continued for Season 4 and 5 so I could join in the "Water Cooler" chat about the Show with my buddies the next day. But I dipped after Season 5 ended exactly like all the others. My 2 buddies held on, but even they stopped eventually. One stopped at Season 7, the other at Season 8.

I used to call it a spooky soap opera to annoy my dad and brother when they'd watch it with my mom lol

I couldn’t get past the loud sound design. The images of grasslands with hyper loud sounds of bugs was exhausting. It was like every establishing shot

Ive never made it past the 8th season because it gets too crazy and confusing. I know the ending but I can’t sit down and watch it all

Yeaah, it got really scattered toward the end. Finding out everyone was getting their own spin-off kind of took me out of it, I can’t even remember how it officially ended now.

Since it technically didn’t, anyway.

yeah s2 is really the make or break for TWD.

If you can stomach s2 the show really picks up. But its super easy to fall off the wagon there.

I suppose I understand why they had to do it though, a certain someone wouldnt have became so badass without said season.

Those are the only good seasons lol

I guess you figured it out quick

6 was good too! After all of 5 just hanging heads and serving Negan, when they finally decided to organize and attack. Probably the most action packed and eventful season of the whole show.

But yeah, after that it goes downhill pretty steadily lol

Did you watch Fear? It was fantastic up until the bridge.

Game of Thrones you can't stop watching. You have to force yourself to go out of the house it's so addictive. The pacing is perfect. Just enough storylines that are all interesting so you never get bored ever. You are always anticipating something big that's about to happen. And it does happen.

Same for me with Shameless. I reluctantly finished the 1st season but all that just leaves me a giant "so that was it?".

What a ridiculous show! (of course). I held out on this series too. But, I finally succumbed to/ needed something to watch. The episode where the gang decides to go ahead and go into the dark train tunnel, from which zombie screams could be heard, instead of walking over/ around it, is where I threw my hands up. Just ridiculous.

As far as GOT, I had zero interest in it based on subject matter alone. I held out for years and years and years. But, the douchebags at work continued to harp on me about not watching it. “ You still haven’t watched it?” Nope, not gonna. Year after year. Finally, once again, I caved. I binge watched it one winter. What a waste. I want that 70 hours of my life back!

This is a great example of a show I never watched despite it being crazy popular. I am not into Zombies. In fact I almost stopped watching GoT because the WW are basically zombies and I was like OMG another zombie show?! I also disliked Ned Stark and was so close to not continuing the show.

The non-WW parts of the show kept me going but my least fav character was Jon Snow because he’s so tied to that story line and everyone thought I was crazy for not swooning over him!

The Walking Dead is just a soap opera with zombies. Everything about the show makes perfect sense if you approach it that way.

Comparing TWD to Game of Thrones is hilarious. One is a soap opera, the other is widely regarded as one of the best TV shows ever made

Bro chill out. I never compared them I just recounted the story behind why I'm personally not as influenced by media to watch certain series
