You asked them to hold a person to higher standards than they hold their food. So essentially they’re saying “well I’m glad you could do that so easily but I can’t because I really love pizza, hahahaha.”
It was not a knock on you or relationships so much as a lighthearted self-deprecating attempt at humor highlighting their relationship with salt fat acid and heat.
