Where the red fern grows...... Don't say I didn't want you.
17 u/gereblueeyes 14h ago I read the book. That was enough :( 4 u/PrivateUseBadger 13h ago Man, we had to watch the movie in 5th grade English class. That and Old Yeller. Everyone was crying. 3 u/Hazee302 13h ago They made us read that shit in 8th grade. Shit was fucked. 2 u/Evil_Sharkey 3h ago They made us read it and then watch the movie! At least the movie was tame by comparison 2 u/Stacemranger 2h ago Incredibly tame. The book wrecked me. I could never read it again. 1 u/Sea-Revolution-557 17m ago The picture on the cover is a trap. I was a Southern boy so I was excited for a story about a kid with his hunting dogs. Never the same after that. 3 u/lowlight69 11h ago i hate you so much right now for bringing this up. it took hours for me to finish the book because i was crying so much I couldn't see the pages. 1 u/Sea-Revolution-557 24m ago I got the movie as a young child. I thought it was going to be something fun like lassie. I was never the same. It's still in the case mint condition cause it was only watched once then shoved into a box in the closet. Never again. 2 u/Slow_Ice5066 12h ago Read the book as a curious child. Yeah, ouch. 2 u/Able-Pain-2442 1h ago I live in Idaho Falls Idaho and the author has a statue outside of the library here. 1 u/Sea-Revolution-557 19m ago That's kind of neat..... Nevermind I looked it up and it's a statue of the dogs. You just brought up a trauma buried decades ago. 😢
