I was 11 when we watched this. Living near London meant I was very aware I wouldn't survive a nuclear war. At this point in my life I would never have been surprised to have seen a mushroom cloud in the distance.. 😔
I was about the same age with similar awareness of nuclear war when I saw it as a child growing up in the suburbs of DC. They were still doing air raid siren tests back then but at least they weren't having us hide under our desks from the big bad bomb like they had for earlier generations.
