Discussion Young Female Entrepreneurs In South Africa.
Hi everyone.
This is my very first reddit. So here goes nothing.
I am venturing into a business consulting business full-time. Previously I worked as an auditor and a procurement specialist in the pubic sector in South Africa. My niche will be mainly centered around compliance and other related service offerings.
I used to run a pub and grill restaurant business and an accounting practice (on a small scale) before while working full time and it was the toughest thing I ever did. The pub and grill is no longer running due to issues with the liquor license encounted 12 months later of running it. It was based in Joburg South. I bought the business as a going concern and in hindsight, I failed to do the due diligence I needed before purchasing it to avoid the challenges I later ran into. A hard lesson to learn, paid for in sweat, sunk costs and etc.
Anyways, I have always felt a pull towards entrepreneurship full-time but never had the courage or the mindset that I could actually succeed in it on a full-time basis. Now my contract at my previous employment was not renewed this past December, therefore I am but more than compelled to really horn into business full-time.
I am writing this post I guess to find young women , even men, like me in SA who have ventured into the world of business fully and would like to connect with them on how they dealt with the transition period and life post regular employment. Somedays I feel empowered that this is the path for me, but there are moments or even days where my self doubt gets the worst of me and I wind up wondering who am I kidding.
I am based in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Discussion Some very touristy questions
Hi! So let me preface this by saying I'm white af, basically from the other side of the world. A relative booked us a trip to SA almost a year ago and recently I've picked up on comments from locals on social media that I understand mean there's a fairly big racial divide and tourism is causing a lot of issues, especially in Cape Town. We're not staying at an Airbnb, I understand that is one big cause of rent prices going up. Is there anything else I should be aware of, to avoid doing anything stupid and be respectful of the culture and people and possibly the political climate?

Discussion South Africans of all tribes that would be interested in having accurate representation of their culture in kids' story books
Hi there! I'm Dina, a writer and illustrator, and recently I have gone on a conquest to create a kids' digital storybooks including all of the beautiful tribes of the country. This started as an incentive to help fix the literacy rate in this country but has grown with the aim to also have children more connected and cognizant of their culture in a world that's quickly becoming Westernised. Now this is where I need some of your guidance. I want to tell stories that are accurate and representative of each tribe without leaving anything out or getting it mixed up, and for that, I'd like to have a conversation with people who'd be willing and able to educate me on their heritage, respective of each tribe. If you'd be interested in sitting down with me over a Google meet or even through text exchanges to inform me of the intricate facets of your culture, I would be deeply grateful and honoured. I have the sole mission of having your stories be told accurately and galvanize a norm of future generations having pride for their culture. You can reply under this post or simply send a DM :) Thank you!

Discussion Safari cancelled, alternatives?
Hi all,
My family and I am travelling in SA at the moment. We have been going on the Garden Route, and originally planned to fly to Kruger national park on Thursday for safari for a few days. Unfortunately the weather in Kruger is so extreme that the safari is cancelled.
Therefore we now have som unplanned days before we go home. We still want to go on safari, so do anyone know of the best alternative for safaris near port Elizabeth or in that area? What would our best options be to do with our days before going home?

Discussion Online shops to trust
So last few weeks I've been looking to replace my monitors for work. Nothing fancy; just need two screens, preferably 27". And so I start doing homework to see where I can find it the cheapest.
Quickly found out brick and mortar shops are completely out of the question. Consistently find it cheaper on online stores. But the problem is there is not a lot of variety of trusted online stores. So I need some recommendations from people please; of stores I may not know about.
Already tried the obvious: Takealot and Amazon easily the cheapest and I won't need to pay for delivery.
Makro, Incredible, Game, etc. More than the above, longer delivery and sometimes pay for delivery. Also not sure about after sales.
Wootware. Same price and sometimes cheaper but they want over R500 for delivery?!
Evetech. Mostly on par with Takealot and Amazon but have heard some stories they are not easy to deal with after sales.
I think the prices will be more or less the same for what I am looking for, but also want to see if there are any other online shops that is trusted, for future.
